Excellent channel! I ordered my Starlink because I made only bad experiences with the local ISPs, Ridiculous promises, non-existent service and total failure during brown-outs. We often have digital nomads as guests, Starlink will soon be one good argument to stay with us. We expect the break-even in less than 6 months.
The only major flaw Starlink has that I can think of is its vulnerability to CMEs (Coronal Mass Ejections). Something that GA touches on, but needs to be emphasized, is the fact that Starlink allows you access beyond what local telcos offer, regardless of location. You'll probably have experienced asking "anong ISP ung malakas dito" before committing to an install - Starlink takes that out of the equation entirely.

Very useful and very informative. Thanks. Believe it or not, after watching about 5 or 6 previous videos from other content providers, yours is the first one that bothered to show the inside equipment (router). As far as cost, here's a valuable comparison. I recently moved to the Philippines from central Florida. The best service I could pay for in my semi-urban rural area was 25Mbps at $50 USD per month, To obtain this "cheap" rate, (discounted for a senior citizen) I had to provide my own modem ... using the provider's modem would have cost me $15 additional per month. So for sure, speeds in the 200 Mbps range for 2700 Pesos per month will be a real bargain.

In PPC Palawan we have the choice of two fiber connections. Outages happen often. Also the contractor/installers when adding a new customer just disconnect one person to add another in the junction box. This is because they don’t know who is still subscribed or not at the box and they are not marked. So you get disconnected every so often and wait a day or two to turn it back on. So starlink is for some of us in cities and I am getting about 190Mbps and fiber 110 Mbps on a promised 600 connection.
I used to have that problem with my DSL. They'd disconnect my line when they connect a new customer. Then a few days or even up to a couple of weeks later, they'd disconnect someone else, and reconnect me. It seemed to go on forever 🤦

Usually in evening I'm down to less than 1kb/s in both 4G and 5G.... I bet they are still on traditional Microwave links. DICT is now even looking into Starlink Satelite Internet as an ISP in Unreachable areas in the country, and as far as competetion to the existing telcos, Starlink wont be a threat to them because they too dont want to invest in hard to reach areas in the country for the reason that is "Low ROI" because they believe that far flung areas have low numbers of subcribers, and also, as an archipelagic country, satelite internet is very much needed.
Have you tested the range of the router? How far from the router can you go? For example, I'd like to know if you have a farm and want to connect IP CCTV cameras around your property.
there are YT vids showing Google/TPLink Mesh with Starlink and it works fine. that's what they can do on public schools and relief centers during typhoons
Simple its for rural people in rural areas and NTC are expediting populated areas faster than rural areas. So far I have a 3 week delay and counting to receive my starlink.
as he said in the video, it's miles cheaper against its satellite competitors.. plus it's a billion dollar business and launching tens of thousands of satellites.. they need to ROI, its not charity.

Mr. Gadget, there have been recent studies that Starlink satellite transmissions can significantly damage the Ozone layer. Would you care to comment on that ?
With your comparison of Cignal and how they charge shows that the same tech can be acquired but since these Philippine companies we have like Globe, Smart, etc. they charging far too expensive tech and Starlink will quash and evidently shows their tech is much better than locally "PROFITEERING / CAPILATALISTIC" in business. This Starlink should change the game of such local telco companies. For small far flung barangays for sure they (LGU) can acquire a telco experienced IT to reverse the use iof those pico cells from acquiring internet and making it work like a small cellsite for a vicinity of a barangay but with a user pax of 120 devices. Would help schools and govt services to far flug areas indeed.
Sir, have you try "Gomo" powered by Globe? Gomo Sim costs P549.00, guaranteed connection is 5mbps (can reach up to 70 mbps, signal connection dependent) for only P599.00 a month. Those who live in the "far flung places" but has Globe connection opt to use this for one reason - CHEAPER, in fact the cheapest. If you can make a comparisson of both, I am eager to hear it. Thank you Starlink is on my "wishist", too. Perhaps when it is not that expensive. 😊
Well, I’m glad early adopters in the Philippines (and SEA?) will experience it while it’s still not crowded. I’m already getting massive slowdowns during “peak hours”. Not unusable but I’m expecting it to get worse and worse as more people use the service. There’s just not enough satellites and they don’t have the capacity to launch satellites faster.
@@kevinxsavagegm I think that the way satellite orbits work, they have to go around the globe -- so they need multiple satellites timed to always be above each area that has coverage.

People here in Texas are canceling their fiber optic internet, I am on the wait list for the Starlink network service and we’re about 45 northwest of Austin just outside of Ft. Hood US Army Base. And I have fiber optic internet and it’s sucks.
Excelent explaination! I wonder how can i buy that or where? Im a seafarer and we are struggling to get that kind of internet connection especially when we are in the middle of the ocean..
Thank you for this video.
The monthly fee is reasonable. The equipments and the installation is an investment.
Have you tested the range of the router? How far from the router can you go? For example, I'd like to know if you have a farm and want to connect IP CCTV cameras around your property.
The default router sucks. Best you buy a better modem for your wifi.
there are YT vids showing Google/TPLink Mesh with Starlink and it works fine. that's what they can do on public schools and relief centers during typhoons
attn dep ed, suitable for shools in the hinterland where connectivity is difficult due to remoteness😊
Simple its for rural people in rural areas and NTC are expediting populated areas faster than rural areas. So far I have a 3 week delay and counting to receive my starlink.
Thanks for the useful and deep information as always.
Can you do in the future a QOS test .
its worth it for rural area
Thank you sir
We need this..
It's good for business for rural area like wifi vendo..
The only thing that's stopping it from being main stream is the price, if they can cut the price in half I would see a lot of people jumping on this.
as he said in the video, it's miles cheaper against its satellite competitors.. plus it's a billion dollar business and launching tens of thousands of satellites.. they need to ROI, its not charity.
@@lanmacalintal9128 nothing wrong with my comment I was listening to him I'm just saying I understand Elon needs an roi of course and it's target market are remote places. I'm saying this can expand and have city folks take advantage of this new tech because if the price went down, other companies would follow suit.
@@BLAKEEATS1988 It is not a sound strategy to compete with existing TelCom monopolies. Pag saturated na ng StarLink ang rural areas, saka pa yan mag shift papuntang urban and may possibility na bababa konti ang price.
The best review so far. Thank you!
So I can bring this to camping right? I just need to wait for signal to stabilized correct?
Got to get one for my province home
The best talaga Starlink pag sa province.
Dito nga sa Basilan, malakas halos always 200mb pataas lang.
Starlink is a very interesting alternative to problematic fixed line setup...
Great info. Tnx
Our company did the NTC Approval for the Starlink owned by Elon Musk. Enjoy the service🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Buddy
Sir, have you try "Gomo" powered by Globe? Gomo Sim costs P549.00, guaranteed connection is 5mbps (can reach up to 70 mbps, signal connection dependent) for only P599.00 a month. Those who live in the "far flung places" but has Globe connection opt to use this for one reason - CHEAPER, in fact the cheapest. If you can make a comparisson of both, I am eager to hear it. Thank you
Starlink is on my "wishist", too. Perhaps when it is not that expensive. 😊
I REALLY hope this grows and becomes cheaper. About time to challenge PLDT's shitty internet and customer service
They have a promo right now... 30% off the hardware cost
ca u do a live travel vlog with the car and the mobile starlink to see if u can make a stable conection ?
Well, I’m glad early adopters in the Philippines (and SEA?) will experience it while it’s still not crowded.
I’m already getting massive slowdowns during “peak hours”. Not unusable but I’m expecting it to get worse and worse as more people use the service.
There’s just not enough satellites and they don’t have the capacity to launch satellites faster.
hopefully spaceX could be able to launch and provide much needed satellites to prevent slowdowns even if many people will subscribe to the service.
They should literally just have dedicated satellites orbiting above each states or continent.
@@kevinxsavagegm I think that the way satellite orbits work, they have to go around the globe -- so they need multiple satellites timed to always be above each area that has coverage.
@@DaleKamp It's a network of satellites.
one guy commented on other creator that spacex is launching more sattelites aiming 12,000 at the end of this year from 42000 planned overall. theyre not dumb enough to not know this problem coming
as a sailor we need this kind of technology while internet onboard is very limited, but i think you can bring this world wide as a roaming like internet.. can you please give as a point of view using this international.. and how much it cost as a roaming subscription.. if ever they have.. ty!
Great for streaming and downloads but not so good for latency sensitive tasks like remote connecting with other networks and servers, with a ping of 120 and over it will only stack more the more far the server is specially if theyre not local servers
My ping is 27
i think the Star Link have a base land station with the wires and fiber connected through transmitter and send it to satellite then to the client receiver.
They have ground stations all around the world. They will also launch ground stations here in the PH.
Thanks for the review, I assume that you can bring these together with you when you travel? Given that you need to supply power for the router to operate
wow amazing thats good deal
I would love to see you if you test it in a bad weather in a windy, rainy and foggy areas. TIA
Meanwhile in US/Canada may soon impose a 1TB data cap as their Fair Usage Policy this will charge a quarter ($0.25) per GB or throttle the speeds. GA already address some questions specially for those people who didn't know the market target of satellite internet
Yeah! The Government should spend money on this cause it's really big in time national emergencies.
agreed. Vico Sotto ordered for their LGU for relief operations
Very good, thank you. I'm moving to the Philippines soon and was wondering about this.
