Much love for the PLP shirt you are wearing, David! Merida’s new Silex is definitely a bike I wanna take for a test ride. One of the most exciting updates beside Canyon‘s Grail. I really like its updated geo and how the different models are configured and priced. Reasonable at all.
I'm not buying anytime soon the prices are just nuts I used to change my bike every 2-3 years as the investment while substancial was affordable and you got a decent spec for your money. I'm sure my first carbon road bike felt Z5(?) With Ultegra 6800 was just over £2k and weighed 7-8kg. My supersix Evo hi-mod I built was under £4k with 6800 di2 and deep section wheels, the frame was clearance at 1k. Was well under 7kg with no special parts. My current bike is disc aero Ultegra mechanical 8kg and cost about the same as the first two combined which is nuts and I'm not spending that every couple of years.
Regarding gravel bikes and their tire clearance it should be noted that when manufacturers say what clearances they have they are usually referring to 1x. Very few if any bike reviews including you David don’t mention what the clearance is if you run 2x assuming the bike being reviewed can accommodate that. You’re usually very thorough and I wanted to mention this for future consideration.
Would love for you to review one of the real value bike brands (state, motobecane, Ican) i wonder if they are not reviewed since they wont ship their bikes for free 😂😂, great reviews that you do, great work
The bike industry has to be the most insane one known to man. People paying these prices have truly lost their minds. Like, as in there is truly something wrong with you if you are.
I wonder how many bikes sell at these prices and what deals are available by the time they reach local bike shops. Some people have always been indifferent to cost, so whether it's this bike, a Rolls-Royce, a fifth mansion, or a yacht, it's just another purchase for them.
Reppin Path Less Pedaled, nice... Keep the supple side down.. I have a lot of love for Russ and Laura and I like the way Russ has carved his own niche, as my daughter would say, Slay.. thanks David....also loving as you get more subscribers you are able to present that independent voice that I would imagine you've always wanted to do
The Polygon bikes look really attractive. If they were available in aluminium and available in Australia, I'd have a look. I don't think my lifestyle suits a carbon bike. My commute to work starts with me carrying my loaded bicycle down the stairs while holding the seat tube. Basically, I do a bunch of stuff to my bike frame that I think shouldn't be done with a carbon bike.
@@hippo71124 Thanks for that. Did a Google and not only found Polygon bikes in Australia but also brands that I hadn't previously heard of. When the time comes, I think that the search for my next bike is going to be interesting.
Merida deal with Specialized? Keeps them from selling into the US? I was unaware. How did that come about? I really like the Silex and was hoping I could get a direct to me sale. 😕
I live in Sri Lanka and Polygon is by far the most value for money brand for road bikes. I ride with a large group of friends who have Polygon bikes from the S2 with a Claris groupset to the A8X with an Ultegra 12speed groupset. Have a look at the pricing and you'll understand what kind of value for money these bikes really are. All of us have had positive experiences with Polygon and look forward to putting more Kms on each of our bikes 🎉🎉
BMC dropping the ball with the paint. The different color protruding onto the side of the tope tube makes that kink look so weird. Good thing the most affordable option is all black!
‘Quite a bit of difference between having a rider on the bike and not having a rider on the bike’. Jeez, I’d never have guessed. Must be getting too old for that ‘not having a rider on the bike’ technology.
This is absurd. And on top of that this alleged F1 tech has made a bike go faster as long as no one is on it. Then my dollar says if you're in the same position riding there's almost no change in anything. The fact that there is now financing available for bikes is sad. The cost of entry into this sport is going to kill it.
First light weight than aero and gravel know. It all about marketing budgets. Good luck with their marketing, when real people are budgeting their money.
You couldn't possibly be more wrong. Unless you are riding at a snail pace, wind resistance is going to account for the vast majority of drag. It's the same reason they make race cars as aero dynamic as possible. As long as you don't add too much weight the aero gains will out benefit the added weight. However, if you want the bike for climbing, then you need to go the route of saving weight over trying to achieve aero gains.
Anything over 4k for a bike you are beint robbed. The fact manufacturers want 5 6 7 8 k for a bike mKes me want to stop cycling if yiu csn buy a car for 6k then bikes should be a lot cheaper even the best ones
Nice shirt, Dave! Love to see the comradery among the RUclips Bike Channel community.
Shout out to Russ @pathlesspedaled. Nice T-shirt!

Would you be willing to review the Cervelo soloist?
Party Pace! Shut out to the Path Less Pedaled!
Review of the new Bianchi Specialissima please. 😊
It's on my list! :)
Would you be able to do a review on the Cube agree with the 105 di2 or the Rose X lite (again 105 di2 version) please@@davidarthur
Review is good bike expensive.

Bikes are not selling, 2024 will be interesting
😂😂😂😂
Agree , it gone mad, what going on . That said the world had gone mad
I think it’s everything lol
@davidarthur no canyon grail in the video ? Becuase you have reviewed the bike yet ?
Yeah - I’ll do a proper 2024 roundup in November as part of my looking ahead to next year

Non pros= go for low weight. Thanks David!

I’m pretty sure Polygon is available here in Australia - a few sites carry them. Not too sure about local shops though

Merida bought 49% of Specialized shares. Its one of the condition in the agreement of this acquisition. Its used to protect Specialized sales in US.
Merida owns Specialized 49% , and builds their higher end frames. In return they wont sell their own bike in North America.
Great shirt!
I too love the t-shirt David. Very good taste!

That ding dong noise in the background almost caused me to hurl my laptop.
Ha, I thought it was the doorbell for a while, too.
If the headset is open for the environment, I think maintenance is way more important
shame that theres no Silex frameset option :(
I'd have to take the Silex, with no mongrel headset cable routing. And with the money I'd save, buy an old lightweight Izalco. Job done.
If you're going to doll out the dollars I think Colnago, Cervelo, Specialized, Pinarello etc. would likely prove better investments over the BMC.

Hello David, Terimakasih
15000 for bmc is absolutely ridiculous... like this letter combination is worth 12000 alone
BMC have always been expensive even before Red Bull F1 tech got involved. Lovely bikes just not easy to justify the cost.
Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries in the world
This is absurd. And on top of that this alleged F1 tech has made a bike go faster as long as no one is on it. Then my dollar says if you're in the same position riding there's almost no change in anything.

HAHA! Bikes are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE these days! It's just INSANE! 💯
Even the Polygon?
Well... not the POLYGON @@davidarthur
Is that a T-shirt from Ross? small world... 😅
I've been know to throw a lot of money at a problem I don't have and that BMC would even be a stretch for me. 😋😋
First light weight than aero and gravel know. It all about marketing budgets. Good luck with their marketing, when real people are budgeting their money.
The BMC is just so silly. It's heavy, has crap tire clearance, with a pressfit bottom bracket lol
Aero is a gimmick, comfort stiff and lightness matter more

@@roadcyclist1 not wrong
And yet ... people, mostly blokes (I wonder why) pay these prices. Demand - Supply
With £15k to spend on a bicycle I'm leaning towards Mads Pedersens Madone...not that ugly bmc
Because people but them.

Polygon Sold in ..go outdoors
I'm so over road bikes.
Just like way over priced Nike air jordan's -- the wannabe's will pay these prices to feel "in"
Hi David, good to hear the BMC Teammachine SLR01 being one of your favourite bikes? @davidarthur
Go Outdoors sell Polygon bikes.
Oh really? Why did I not know that. Okay I'll get onto them
