My name is Sam and together with my girlfriend Lyanne, I am on a quest to restore the beauty of this old Italian villa from 1895. Join us as we have to let go of our Dutch habits to fit in in our Italian surroundings, were the word 'plan' gets redefined and our tastebuds are awakened.
The goal of this project is to show that with limited financial means and a lot of optimism we can resurrect the beauty of this abandoned villa in a green and sustainable way. But most of all learn from everything that we encounter and enjoy it whilst we're at it.

He's stated his preference and that's fine. For me-It's a matter of efficiency. Time and effort saved that can be applied to projects in the Villa and the grounds. It's not like splurging on a tool for a one-time use; investing now into having a functioning driveway will facilitate everything into perpetuity. But I'm not restoring that house; Sam is.

Sam, you are so lucky you're strong. Then again, you don't use any power tools for lifting ir digging. Only muscle power for you. Go for it while you can. From the plans it looks like you made the opening to the shower smaller and angled wider where the shower head will be at the other end. This will then angle the tub with a better veiw of the window. Nice adjustment. Now, what about that sun screen?😢❤❤❤

The path on the way up needs a touch with the mower.........wish I could think of a way to make it easier for you to get heavy things up that hill. Hurts to watch you struggle. A pulley system? Dan uses one to get heavy stuff like steel beams and joists to the top of his chateau why couldn't you do the same thing horizontally?🤔Looks like you could use a pulley in lots of ways. Move it around a bit and voila! l It lifts beams up to that bathroom window! And that pesky scaffolding could be pulled up to the bathroom window with the pulley instead of struggling up the stairs with it.

Sam you work so hard; however, I’ve noticed for some time now that you are apt to begin a number of projects but move on to the next before you have completed the previous one. You spent quite a bit of time removing all of the pipes and radiators in the house with the intention of replacing them to conduct heat, electrical, etc. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe that you have done so before moving on to your garden. In the process of removing all of the pipes, you drilled some significant holes in the tile floors and the walls of your villa. Did I miss seeing you fix them? You worked so hard to plant all that you have, yet the land was never properly cleared and you appear to be struggling with maintaining the garden by weeding it regularly, cutting the grass and continuing to remove the volunteer trees, bramble, ivy that you had begun to remove piecemeal but never completed. The property remains overgrown. Have you given some thought as to what you will do with all of the produce your garden is producing? I don’t know what your plans are for removing the building debris that lies in piles in your backyard nor the pile of cut branches, weeds and the like. These are but a few examples. As I’ve said, you are such a hard worker but seem to be making more work for yourself with each project that you start but don’t complete properly and in it’s entirely. I’m cheering for you to make yourself a beautiful home but encourage you to do things well, to completion and with care. Ask for input and help when you don’t know how to proceed before investing in more materials without knowing if your plan is feasible. It is a lovely villa that can be transformed into something exceptionally beautiful. I continue to wish you the very best.

Hello, thank you for consistently posting videos of your hard work. Sadly you don’t seem to have achieved an enormous amount, though ai do understand the electrics and plumbing has been huge. You seem to want to vary the content and the end result is you start something but don’t complete. The garden is an example imo it’s a disaster and in today’s video you had to clear the drive way again to get the timber upto the house. You’ve left plastic bags with ginger just discarded it’s a fluke that it’s grown meantime the plastic is deteriorating and will cause yet another problem. Your reluctance to restore/improve the driveway is at best foolish and stubborn but really just plane nuts. You are clearly not afraid of hard physical work just focus on finishing something. The rooftop terrace could be a good start and a proper clearance of the garden. Sorry that I’ve been so negative as I really would like you to achieve a beautiful home.
