Mads! Dan from Norway here! The tape could be the tape used to seam/seal vapor barrier when you are building houses in cold climates like Danmark and Norway. The shop called it "non-aging" tape Mine is from Scotch but I am sure more brands like 3M makes them as well. I have a roll in my leftovers that are now 15 years old. It is as soft and sticky as the day I used it those years ago. Super stuff. Expensive but very good!
This is the 3M version of the tape you asked about. “3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tape 8663”. We use it on helicopter blades to cover the area where the stainless steel erosion strips ends to keep any rain water when flying or washing water while on the ground from getting under the stainless steel. Without that tape sand and dirt particles really blast away the adhesives and leaves voids for the water to penetrate those areas. I’ve heard it called “Blade Tape”, “NASCAR Tape”, and “100mile an hour tape.” It comes in two thicknesses also. The thinner tape we use on the tail rotor blades and it will last about 100 hours, the thicker we use on the main rotor blades and it will last about 300 to 500 hours depending on if we are working out of dirt landing zones or using airports.

You have my sympathy for being in Florida. We lived in Florida a total of 18 years, 4 in Orlando and 14 in Coral Springs. I agree with the installation of AC something similar to what Sailing Uma installed would be the ticket
For sealing your cracks and holes for now you could use "Eternabond" Tape, which is used for RV roofs. It comes in 2" and 4" widths that I know of. It's pretty long lasting, and very "sticky." It will last years exposed to the elements, and is good enough to patch your holes and cracks temporarily while you're working on the boat. It is a pain to get off, and does leave quite a bit of glue behind after you remove it, but you can use acetone, xylene, or even ronsonol lighter fluid works good too to get the tape residue off. You could also use"Dicor" self leveling caulk for roof sealing as well. Another RV product. Good luck with the project!
Consider Shrinkwrap tape for temp sealing of cracks and openings. Is durable and highly UV resistant. Also get a big window AC off marketplace and build a shroud over deck hatch. This will both cool and dehumidify the interior nicely. Perhaps once your paperwork is sorted, build a wood frame and shrinkwrap canopy. Stay cool~

Mads, I used plumbers putty to temporarily seal holes on my job track when I was refitting my old boat. Worked well for almost a year. Also a lesson I learned on AC is that window units are way better than portable units. Portable AC units' exhaust hose gets extremely hot during our high heat days, also keeping water out of them during rainy days is almost impossible. Good luck on this project.

Happy to follow this new Herculean sanding saga that is just about to start. And in that note, I guess you have a hint for a nice name for the new boat. Will stop here to avoid the spoiler. See you!

In the UK we have a tape like that, that is used for repairing cracked glass in greenhouses. It sticks like s..t, doesn't leave a residue and lasts ages.
that tape you asking about, you can use it to seal any leaks you may have on plastic pools or water tanks it is very durable, almost anything that has a leak that tape will fix it
Hi Mads. Festo makes some pretty excellent floorgrinders where sandpaper/fiberdiscs can be attached with velcro. The dust collection system is very good and the speed of the machine can be adjusted. It is a little pricy, but it lasts forever. All best from København.
Theoretically, you could lift the entire roof of the salon and create more headroom, extend the shade to the aft, and create a 'one-room' look from inside to out with an even flow. Make those adjustments now. Also, extend the sugar scoops for a larger swim platform, a la Parlay Revival. Keep it up and looking forward to this next build.
I'm unsure if it's been said before, but the TotalBoat Fairing Compound is perfect for sealing up small holes. It's waterproof and really strong. Plus, you can mix extremely small amounts for your minor projects.

Thank you SO much for sticking around 😊 we can’t wait to share it with you 😊
You make it all look easy.
DIY is what got me hooked on SailLife Years ago. Looking forward to lots of O Glorius Sanding on the new project!
We are looking forward to sharing it with you 😊
Those leaks have a lot of nice boat attached to them.
Oh glorious sanding, let the dust storm begin! Glad you bought a cat this time, you will love the comfort and stability.
Deffo another vote for polytunnel repair tape .. easily available .. good with UV and sticks well
For RV roofs people use butyl tape, Dicor lap sealant or Eternabond tape. Those would be good for temporarily sealing water out.
I can't see that anyone else mentioned it but 'greenhouse tape' is what you're looking for. It did two years as a repair on a sail window, good stuff.
I think your roll of tape is tape for repairing rips on the plastic cover on a polytunnel. Which is very strong and doesn’t break down with UV light
Happy to follow this new Herculean sanding saga that is just about to start. And in that note, I guess you have a hint for a nice name for the new boat. Will stop here to avoid the spoiler. See you!
I hope you get this boat, I'm really looking forwards to seeing another "somewhat extensive refit". Good luck.
15:30 that's plastic repair tape. It's for greenhouse plastic sheets. They never put brand names on that stuff and it's always UV resistant. I have the green stuff and it's super resilient.
By crikey, you’re a real glutton for punishment. Athena was a monumental undertaking, but this cat is really on another planet! Looking forward to you progressing this rebuild.
Thank you so much :)
So great to see DIY mode again. You surely have a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Keep it up and I’ll peek in each week. Oh! By the way I’m out sailing out of Escanaba Michigan on Lake Michigan under auto pilot and viewing your progress. Doesn’t get much better. Gallivant Catalina 36 Jim
I am so glad to see Brian's boat being finish! I can't wait to follow you to completion! Thanks for all of the video work your doing. I know it is a complete pain to edit!
This is going to be so fun to follow along.
I love this bold, brave new chapter in the saga!
In the UK we have a tape like that, that is used for repairing cracked glass in greenhouses. It sticks like s..t, doesn't leave a residue and lasts ages.
Looks like the tape we use for our greenhouses. We use it to repair poly. Maybe look for it on a nursery supply page.
This is so exciting. I can't wait for the big catamaran cleanup - it's going to be so satisfying!
that tape you asking about, you can use it to seal any leaks you may have on plastic pools or water tanks it is very durable, almost anything that has a leak that tape will fix it
Hi Mads. Festo makes some pretty excellent floorgrinders where sandpaper/fiberdiscs can be attached with velcro. The dust collection system is very good and the speed of the machine can be adjusted. It is a little pricy, but it lasts forever. All best from København.
Love all the mending of the new hopefully fingers crossed boat x
You have a big task ahead of you, & i would be thoroughly checking the bulkheads for any damage
