Now that we know the amount of effort that Brian pours into curating the comments segment each episode, I would propose that we start calling it "The Breakfast Club".

Last week on our family vacation, while sitting all together my mother asked how our drive was up to the cabin. After we all responded with “great!” she proceeded to ask “Did you all see the dead horse on the side of the road?”. Immediately, myself as well as my brother in law, sister, and wife busted out laughing thinking she was making a joke referencing Nates dead horse story. Wiping the water from our eyes we realized she was completely lost and had no idea what we were talking about. This led to a night of watching Nate’s specials and clueing them into this fantastic podcast. We were all having a great time!

Hello folks and HEY BEAR! On a recent trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, we came out to the parking lot to find a large black bear lurking around our car. I immediately recalled my podcast training and began shouting “Hey, bear!” into the Gatlinburg night. To no surprise, it worked, and the bear scurried off into the surrounding forrest. Thank you Nateland for the podcast, the laughs, and for making the world a safer place. We love you, none of this is lost on us, and uh yeah, see you next week!

As a nerd with a degree in math, it was cool to hear the Birthday Paradox mentioned. It took them a minute to figure it out but they got it. Indeed, the paradox "works" because it's not asking the probability of YOU sharing a birthday with someone, but rather of ANY 2 people in the room sharing a birthday. With 23 randomly selected people, there are 253 possible pairs to consider. Fun fact: The probability reaches 99.9% when you reach 70 people in the room.

“Appliances Part 2” was another thing of beauty. Great episode. It inspired me to suggest a new way of naming your episodes. Start with the topic Breakfast has selected and researched, then follow it with the topic or topics the guys spend the most time actually talking about in parentheses. I wasn’t really enthused about more appliances talk, but the hidden topic of infomercials was so much fun. Keep spreading joy!

I was in the TSA Line this week, and experienced Nate's Comedy LIVE! The agent looked back and forth at the name on my ticket and the name on my license - and said, "Have you ever gone by the name "Wes"?" Confused, I confirmed I had. She said, "Well, your license has Wesley." In my mind - I was channeling Nate saying "You can see how we got there, right?!?" After having me stand there for 5 minutes and having a supervisor confirm it as OK - I was able to proceed. CRAZY!

Nate, I am an economist, and there absolutely have been permanent tax cuts in the US. Prior to the Vietnam war, the marginal federal tax rate on high income earners capped at 87%. That rate has come down throughout the decades to the 37% tax rate today. The biggest cut to that tax rate took place during Ronald Reagan, when the top income tax rate was cut from 70% to 50%, while it also cut rates for lower income brackets.

If you fail, just double down and ask for 5 additional people. The odds bump up to 81.4% with 35 individuals & most bettors will agree to this double or nothing bet. Go make free money folks!

As an EMT I'd like to explain the confusion around the "firefighter/paramedic" conversation. In most states, all firefighters go through EMT school and need to be certified/licensed emergency medical technicians in addition to completing fire academy. There are generally four levels of EMT (in order from most basic to most advanced): Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), EMT-Basic (EMT-B), Advanced EMT (AEMT), and Paramedic (EMT-P). As a resident of Tennessee, most fire departments I'm familiar with require all firefighters to be certified/licensed AEMT's. Different states have different standards.

I wonder what the Nateland Crew think of the Aaron Rodgers Achilles heel injury prediction that was posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Someone "tweeted" at 6pm that he would tear his Achilles tendon in "2.5 hours". At 8:30pm he was out of the game with that exact injury. Conspiracy? What's Dusty's take? Hey bear.

I feel great about being part of the 2 comment club! A little less great about “not being funny” being a way to get a comment read but that’s ok.

In the early days of Nateland, the stated goal was to produce "evergreen" content. This meant the fellas didn't comment on recent events. Now, there's a movement to start the Nateland News Network. What episode are they pushing this plan?
An episode recorded at least a week earlier.
As everyone knows, the only thing with higher ratings than the local news is local news reruns from the previous week. (To be fair, I'd probably still watch).
    I'll go proofread this now.

My dog died. (It gets funnier.)
Toward the end I took him out to pee. He lacked the balance, strength, and coordination to lift his leg. So he leaned his hips forward until he was done. Then, at the last minute, he picked up his leg to style it out.
It reminded me of BranFlakes’s delayed heel raise in his golf follow-through. And I laughed and laughed.
You guys don’t even know how your inane banter makes our days better. Keep doing what you’re doing.

I found a george foreman grill at a garage sale in the free bin, and now I know why it was free. It was the first or second generation of grills and it didnt have a lift on the hinge to properly close the lid. So basically it was a pac-man mouth type wedge that squishes and scorches the food to oblivion on one side, and the other side is still raw. You have to take the height of your food into serious consideration before use. Lol
