  • Today's video is a look at the 75 gallon fish tank in our classroom. We currently have a Jack Dempsey, Salvini, Green Terror, and a convict cichlid in this aquarium.
    We've needed to do a major tank cleaning on this one. I've been keeping up with weekly water changes during the pandemic, so the fish are healthy and water parameters are great- but aesthetically, there was definitely some work needed.

    Finally set up my 135 gal as an American cichlid tank. Got a huge oscar, a few convicts,a jack dempsey, a blood parrot, turquoise severum and a few synodontis catfish. This was certainly a big inspiration for that. Still looking for a good size green terror

    May I ask some questions? First question : I add tonic salt to my Malawi chiclids water but I was told to only add one tea spoon to my 4ft long tank? Am I adding to little? As you seem to add 10times the amount I was told to? And second question is : what’s the advantages of a wave maker as I’ve always been told you don’t need wave makers for fresh water fish ? Many thanks dude! Love the videos 👍🏼

    Do you think you will add anymore fish to this aquarium? I also have a 75 gallon with to Jack’s in it currently. I’m wondering what else I should add. Currently considering Sevrums and or Electric Blue Acaras. Your green terror looks awesome.

    I watched this video for a reference point for my aquarium. I have a 90 gallon bow front corner tank. I have a couple angels and a blue Acara. I had two blue Acara but lost my male on Saturday. I really miss these bigger angry Central American cichlids. I used to have a 125 full of them. Thinking of redoing my 90 gallon and putting in a couple Central Americans or a single wet pet like a Flowerhorn. Do you have any stocking suggestions???

    • @CichlidBros

    hi ther hey great video I have a question what side do the wave maker goes on the where water return or on the intake side I'm not sure what size is it at the bottom or the top

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  3 года назад

      Thanks! I usually put the wavemaker on the opposite end of the filter intakes, which pushes debris towards the filters. The one in the video is a hydor koralia pump.

    Isn't this giant root in the middle of the tank blocking the swimming space. I was told not to block the swimming area.

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  3 года назад +2

      For these cichlids, it’s been a way of managing aggression and breaking line of sight. They’re able to get away from one another when needed. For other types though, you’re right - you may need swimming space

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  3 года назад +1

      They should be okay, but aggression is the concern long term. Always something to monitor and having back up tanks is a good idea

    You guys have one of the best fish channels in my opinion. but you washed all your decorations in tap water ! Aren’t you worried about killing off your beneficial bacteria ?

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  3 года назад +8

      Thank you! And great question. Not too worried about it since the substrate and two large filters, which have the majority of the beneficial bacteria, weren’t washed in tap water. We always use tank water for our filter maintenance 👍🏻
