My kit is on the way for my 04 Silverado 2wd. Would you say that there is enough clearance to have 3” vband flanges welded on each header to X-pipe and also the x pipe cross over at trans pan and there not be clearance issues? Looks like there wouldn’t be from your video.
they actually sound very mild and not excessively loud, I might actually consider them for my 08 now. Does anyone know if there are power gains over the factory catback? Not sure how restrictive the factory catback is.
Thanks.....yea there's some decent gains there. But the reality is until you get rid of the pe delays and tm in the tune they don't really show up. Last time i had the draggy on the truck it went 15.2 at 94mph. Since then i have found more pe delays and it's more responsive. It takes off now w/o the huge dead spot. But i put a larger tire on the truck so the back to back wouldn't be accurate.
Your truck sounds badass man. How loud is the truck while pulling your camper? Is it bearable inside the cab? I know the 6.0’s gotta rev a bit to get into the power band.
I have a vid of me pulling my dump trailer i should have uploaded a long time ago so you guys could here it with a load....along with some wot runs. I meant to just never did😁 But it's not bad really. It has a bit of resonance around 60mph then it goes away as you speed up. If you put it in 3rd and the converter locks it goes away at that speed. At high rpm it's almpst like it gets quieter in the cabin. As far as 6.0s needing rpm.....well yes and no. They are capable of rpm but once you do some mods and get rid of all the nannies in the computer they really liven up down low. Once you get rid of the dead spot in the 2500-3000 rpm range on take off they really start to get it on.....and all that is the pcm constantly pulling power with various ways of tq management. My truck has draggied a best of 15.2@94mph and that was with 285/70-17s. It still had that dead spot in it on that run, i hadn't found all of it yet. On stock tires i have no doubt it would run in the 14s. Right now i have 305/70-17 on it and that did kill it a bit. It made 1st gear way to long. I may put some 4.88 gears it. That would be slightly lower than the stock 4.10s with the oe size tire vs my 305s. I think it would really get it on then.
Might want to replace or at least check your engine mounts. A lot of people have fitment issues and it’s bc of a collapse mount. I’m in the middle of getting my oarts ready for my 1500hd n I have these headers n exhaust also. Even have there intake and wires. Very pleased of the quality so far.
Yea it's pretty nice stuff. My mounts all looked good. I had to drop the spare tire to adjust the rear hanger. The tips set up more where they belong now.
Yes....no more aggravation from that stupid clutch fan going bad. The trucks temp don't creep up now and the ac works better. It no doubt accelerates better too but until you tune out the pe delay you probably won't be able to tell.
Thanks....the tires on it in the vid are 285/70 17s. I have had 295/70 17s on it before and now i have 305/70 17s on it. Overall the 295s probably fit the truck the best. I've raised it up a little to get the 305s to fit via the torsion bars but still on stock keys and I put 1.5" blocks under the back to help keep it level when loaded.
@@SloComaro oh that's right it was a option...i forgot. So i did get that option. But the headers do come with gaskets. They're not the mls gaskets tho. So you could source your own bolts and save some money there. Their plug wires are nice. I would recommend those.
I just installed this exact exhaust on my ‘08 same body style, I love the sound but it is just a bit too droney and loud!! I’m probably gonna install resonators somewhere to quiet it down some. Otherwise money well spent!!!!
My truck is meant to haul shit. I'm smart enough not to race a heavy turd. Maybe you should go to the track with your truck....or dragy it. Let the reality set in on what it really does.
@@HioSSilver1999 it's actually my work truck I put the motor in it for fun when the stock 5.3 lifters went bad. My bed is scratched to hell and the backseat is full of carpentry and masonry tools as we speak.. I've put 2k lbs in the bed and drove around for 2 days, couldn't tell it was back there until it was time to hit the brakes lol. My setup is an all around motor it's not focused on racing or hauling. Being quick was just a bonus that came with the work I did to it. The motor is a real torque monster. I already have the rings gapped so if I want to race it's no problem shooting gas to it. I'm not some dummy who doesn't know how to put a build together lol. I just wanted a fun work truck that I could also play in. If I wanted a dedicated race truck I wouldn't be using a crew cab 4x4 with leather, sunroof and TVs on big heavy all terrains 😂
@@swappedoutZ71 sounds good. I wouldn't have picked a btr stage 4 for a truck like that tho. I haul my truck camper with mine and tow my car and dump trailer. Low end tq and efficiency is more of a concern for me. It runs good for a 2500hd. The exhaust picked it up to a 15.1@ 93.8 on the same tune and 87 octane gas. Needs some tuning mostly to try to eliminate a dead spot in the 2500-2800 range when taking off. It's probably pulling timing to limit tq there.
@@HioSSilver1999 I'm a bit higher than stock LQ9 or LS2 compression and that kept me from losing much torque. If your truck is a true tow rig and you don't care to race, throw some 5.3 heads on it (862 or 706) and you'll thank me for it. Also a TBSS/NNBS intake manifold is great for picking up midrange torque over the stock NBS manifold. Or you could throw a 2800 stall converter on it and it won't be as bad. 4l80 got some dog ass gears too that's why I went built 4l60 instead of 80 swapping my truck
@@swappedoutZ71 i have thought about a set of 243s. I have a set off my ls6. But to really take advantage of the added compression i would need to run super unleaded. And that shit cost to much. I have considered a tbss intake. But i ported my oe intake and it made quite a difference. So probably not worth the cost to me. I have a set of HS 1.8 roller rockers laying here i might throw on it someday. Yea 4l80 gearing sucks. I run nearly 60mph in 1st gear with 4.10 and 33s. A a6 swap would be great or some 4.88s.....or both. But in the end it pulls pretty good as is. So i probably won't do much except play with the tune.
It absolutely sounds incredible I agree!
