Dear Miaranda, thank you for this wonderfully inspirational video. I have just started to rewatch all of your videos and making more precise reading lists (according to months and seasons) when I used to before. I always appreciate this kind of your videos so much, because they give me so many suggestions about what to read next. It is such a pleasure to think that there will always be enough books to read😊Have a wonderful week!
I enjoy when you recommend books I have loved reading - it reminds me to re-read some of them! I have many of the new to me garden ones on order! Thank you for these seasonal recommendation videos.
Hi Miranda, love seeing you with the beautiful bouquets in back ground and the books and their covers. My daughter was in Paris 7x learning language. Both of us will like Paris, My Sweet.
What a great list! And what beautiful editions of The Pursuit of Love and The Wind in the Willows. I am currently reading The Cazalet Chronicles; it's so good. Thank you for recommending it in a previous video!
Hi Miranda! It's a dark, stormy dreary day here in Maine and this video was just what I needed! I love your suggestions; I am very curious about Illyrian Spring and Little Grey Men. Elizabeth and her German Garden is on my TBR for May! I cannot wait to read it. Gardener's Nightcap sounds and looks amazing! 🌷 Thank you!💗 Love to Donna for Mother's Day💐
I love your recommendations so much! I would like to share something interesting I found. When I was reading Elizabeth and her German garden, I couldn't get rid of the silly feeling that I'm reading the thoughts of somebody who could be the Mum of Anne Shirley. I ended up researching the dates and any possible connections and here is what I found in a biography of L. M. Montgomery: "Spring was glorious that year, and the opening scenes of Anne of Green Gables were written under it's happy banner. They were also written under the felicitous influence of a popular work that Maud had picked up in the Cavendish Literary Society Library. Elizabeth von Arnim's 1898 Elizabeth and her German Garden was a thinly veiled autobiographical account of one year, from spring to spring, depicting her reveling in her secluded garden in Pomerania." from Looking for Anne of Green Gables by Irene Gammel. So Elizabeth and her German garden is a must read for Anne fans not only because it's a truly beautiful book! :)
Hi Miranda! Drinking my tea (English Afternoon w/ milk) and listening to you great reviews! I wrote down soooo many😊. Really want to read some of those "coming of age" bks. I don't usually read that genre, but they sound delightful. Words worth is one of my favorite poets and I have gathered many pictures of his lake district over many years. There are no signs of Spring yet here in Michigan, USA. The day temps are sometimes warmer, but the next day could be in the mid-high 30's. Thank you! Hello to your Mom. Starting The Secret Garden in a few min. for the Comfort Book Club😊
i always sit watching your videos with a notebook. Thank you for such wonderful videos filled with beautiful flowers, lovely stationery, china and of course your beautiful house.
Lovely spring reading video. Some of your recommendations I have or am currently reading, and joyfully, you have provided more recommendations that I have not heard of before. Always a joy to watch your videos.
Dear Miranda, As usual, your vlog is totally inspiring and up lifting. I Capture the Castle, Anne of Green Gables and the Secret Garden are among my favourites and I re read every year! Thank you so much for another wonderful experience.
It’s snowing! ❄When spring finally arrives, I like to sit in my garden and read, especially seasonal books. You’ve given us a fabulous selection of choices.
Hi Miranda! I am really enjoy listening to the Secret Garden audiobook! So much so, I want to purchase the book. I am wondering if you can recommend an illustrated copy. I purchased The Forever Flowers because of your recommendation on the illustration. I don't think The Secret Garden will be as beautifully illustrated but I trust your suggestions. I will be buying Little Night Cat because of the illustrations. Thank you sharing your recommendations with us! I am really looking forward to our Comfort Book Club! Happy Mother's Day to Donna!
Yes! I thought it was out of print, but actually I've just found the Tasha Tudor illustrated version is in print. I really love this one! blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/product/The-Secret-Garden-by-Frances-Hodgson-Burnett-author-Tasha-Tudor-illustrator/9780062981950 Also, the Mina Lima version is very beautiful and different - it's getting hard to find, but I found it here: www.fortnumandmason.com/the-secret-garden-by-frances-hodgson-burnett?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA0bWvBhBjEiwAtEsoW4t_HL32_cZcOpt8e5BH3m0jBiKJl_zltAjxUn5-NxjYEzUV1CXOxBoC0_cQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Finally, this upcoming illustrated edition looks gorgeous: blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/product/The-Secret-Garden-by-Frances-Hodgson-Burnett-author-Kate-Lewis-illustrator/9781797225180 I also like the Inga Moore version a lot, but it's now out of print: www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/642744/the-secret-garden-by-frances-hodgson-burnett-illustrated-by-inga-moore/9780763647322#:~:text=In%20this%20engaging%20unabridged%20edition,a%20nature%2Dloving%20Yorkshire%20boy.
I’m so looking forward to reading the books you listed! I’m not able to get some of them due to being in the US, but the ones I’ve read so far, I have loved. Here is a recommendation for you and other Comfort Book Club members. It’s called Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams by Susan Branch. It’s her memoir about her move to Martha’s Vineyard after her divorce and the healing that takes place there. I truly loved it and think you might too. Wishing you a good week. I’m going to read The Secret Garden again this week and looking forward the discussion ❤
Thank you for this week's recommendations, Miranda. I was planning on doing some cleaning and organizing at home today, but I discovered your new video had been uploaded so, like Mole, I said, "Hang the spring cleaning" and settled down to watch. As is always the case, it did not disappoint.
Another inspiring video….thank you. One More Croissant for the Road sounds like a fun, lovely read for spring. I am always on the lookout for a copy of Old Herbaceous as I wander through used bookstores. One day I’ll find it. It’s been on my TBR for so long. Happy Spring☘️🌸🐇
Thanks Again miranda for another lovely video and some lovely spring recommendations which I've already noted down. I capture the castle is my next read ready for the book club 📖 😊
Fabulous list of Spring Reads, some old favourites of mine in there too. Love The Secret Garden, Enchanted April and I Capture the Castle. Plenty of new to me books too that I must check out . Thank you so much for such an informative and interesting episode ❤
Hello Miranda tfs your "spring" reads 📚 . . can't wait for you and your mum adventure out and shoe beautiful flowers springing up and yes some book shopping too 😊 have a wonderful evening take care ♥️🙋♀️
Miranda, I just recently discovered your videos and I’m so happy I did. I love all your recommendations & just everything about your videos. I see that I have a lot of older videos to catch up on. I’m looking forward to many of the Spring books you mentioned.
Wonderful, Carol! Thank you so very much for all your kind support! I so much appreciate it and hope you’re having a lovely Sunday! I was unfortunately under the weather this past week, but happily better now ❤️📚💐
Thanks for all the recommendations! I read The Pursuit of Love and Darling based on your recommendations and I loved both. I then went on to read India Knight's book on beauty products and I loved it too.
I bought the Serious Readers HD cordless floor lamp last November and I love it!!! I highly recommend it to anyone and not just for reading. I do not know what I have done without it all these years. I did use your offer code Thank you for the great recommendation!!!
May I say you are looking resplendent Miranda! Must be the Spring time air! I have just finished Dear Mrs Bird and Yours Cheerfully by A.J. Pierce and I thank you so much for introducing us to this author. I also love wartime stories, London in the thirties and forties . Nancy Mitford is one of my favorite authors, I have reread The Pursuit of Love throughout the years with much pleasure. On your recommendation, I bought India Knight's book , Darling and she gets it just right..so rare in a "remake"....really loved it!
As always I really enjoyed all your wonderful recommendations, a mixture of intriguing new-to-me books and old favourites of mine that I always want to reread again soon after hearing you talk about them! I bought Illyrian Spring a while ago and have been saving it for this time of year.
What a super list. Some firm favourites of mine and also some great recommendations of books I don't know, especially in the gardening section. I'm looking forward to getting hold of some of those and reading them.
Thankyou so much for these recommendations Miranda. I have read several of them but perhaps I should be re-reading! The gardening books sound so interesting, and entertaining. Thankyou again.
Ann Bridge on my reading list now! I had never heard of her, so thank you for the recommendation! I watched again last week The Enchanted April, I just love the story, the impact a beautiful environment, a bit of sun, make to relationships and confidence, and well being. Great video with a lot of reading suggestions, too many to keep up with but never mind, one book at a time! All the best
I have a very old copy of Elizabeth and Her German Garden that I bought for pennies at a library book sale just before the pandemic and had started it but never finished it. This must be a sign that it is time to add it to my very short TBR stack for March/April.
Lovely recommendations, Miranda! I'm reading Doctor Zhivago and Don Quixote right now, and with my girls, I am reading Enid Blyton's The Caravan Family series. Hope you have a lovely Spring
Such a great collection, thanks for sharing - always love your book recommendations. Enjoying the Secret Garden right now and looking forward to our discussion. 😊
Miranda, I love and look forward to all your wonderful book videos, and I want all your dresses! 😂 Do you have any favorite brands that are available to ship to the US as well? ❤
So many favourites here - I’d already planned to reread ‘The Darling Buds of May’ in the early summer, as I do each year, and also ‘The Enchanted April’ - and now I have some new potential favourites! I think you’d enjoy ‘The Gowk Storm’ by Nancy Brysson Morrison. It’s set in and around a rural, Scottish manse and follows the fortunes in love of the two eldest daughters (narrated by the youngest) during a ‘gowk storm’, which is unseasonable stormy weather in spring. The story is so compelling and her writing is beautiful. It’s like reading about a Scottish version of the Bronte sisters!
Always love your videos, thanks 😀 I’ve already had to buy another bookcase 😂 luckily we have an amazing charity bookshop near us. I’ll have to look out for some of those suggestions, especially the gardening ones. I’m just about to finish reading Blooming Flowers by Kasia Boddy, great for dipping in and out of.
So many wonderful recommendations! I need more time!! I will listen to I Capture the Castle since you recommended so highly the version with Jenny Agutter. I read the book years ago and loved it!
Excellent list--I've read several, a few due to your recommendations in the past I think. I want to read Darling by India Knight but it hasn't been released in the USA and the used prices with shipping are too much for a "maybe." The library has a few other books by her, so I'll have to try one of those.
You're the best judge of what's suitable for your children, but I Capture the Castle is a young adult / adult book so not generally regarded as suitable.
Dear Miaranda, thank you for this wonderfully inspirational video. A classic bookish episode. My favorite kind.
Lots of books to lose yourself - thank you Miranda for all these wonderful recommendations!
Love the vase on the table.

I'm reading The Secret Garden. :)
11:04 I blurted out the name but I waited till you mentioned it.
“You’re a Lady, not Toad of Toad Hall.”
bedside companion for gardeners by jane mcmorland hunter, emily of new moon by lm montgomery, the country diary of an edwardian lady
Wonderful editions, Miranda. What's the best illustrated edition of 'the wind in the willows' in your opinion ? Thank you. 😊
How beautiful does that look. 😊

Can’t believe it’s Spring already. Already dreading the summer.
Is I Captured the Castle appropriate for an 11-13 year old? Was thinking of reading to my kids?
You're the best judge of what's suitable for your children, but I Capture the Castle is a young adult / adult book so not generally regarded as suitable.
2:27 Have you seen the adaptation of it? The story sounds like fun.
Lots of ideas!!! Thanks for all you do☘️🌷
