Meet 2021-2022 Artists In Residence: Cameron Granger

In this video, we speak with 2021-22 artist in residence Cameron Granger. Granger came up in Cleveland, Ohio, alongside his mother, Sandra, inheriting both her love of soul music, and habit of apologizing too much. A video artist, he uses his work as both a site for memory making, and as means to strategize new ways of remembrance in our age of mass media.
In It's time for me to go: Studio Museum Artists in Residence 2021-22, he explores how architecture, geography, and community function as containers for memories. The video works on view honor his late grandmother and serve as a remembrance of the house she lived in, and the memories made in community within it.
