My passion fruit pulp has separated to the top of the jars, is this ok? I did not use a vacola unit.

Sandgroper here - great vid thank you . What is the name of the unit again ? "nicola" or something ? Can you substitute it for an ordinary pot of cold water then boil them in it ? If so, how long for ? And once you open a jar , how long will the rest of the pulp last for before it goes off ? Cheers Kathryn

hi sorry for not replying sooner I have only just found your comment. the unit is called a Simple Natural unit from vacola you can buy from some hard wear shops but this is the link to the web sight fowlersvacola.com.au/shop/fowlers-kits/simple-natural-preserving-kits-2
I was not able to find a tested recipe for preserving passion fruit any other way than in the instruction book that came with the unit. so to boiling in a pot I could not tell you a time as there is not tested time. once the jar is open it is just like any store bought jar use with in seven day. sorry for the delay in responding.

sorry for the delay in replying I didn't recive a notification of your comment. The unit I am using dose not boil. The unit is turned on for 1hr from start to finish and turned off if it dose boil and left for the rest of the hour. It is designed to reach 92 deg which helps to remove the air from the jars and kill any bacteria in the food.
