      To be honest, it didn't really as seem much of a strain. He genuinely seems to love Ratchet & Clanks core gameplay which is probably why he cranked out the first 4 reviews so fast. Of course these 2 games in particular are spotty and Secret Agent Clank in particular being surprisingly draining was always an odd case. I'm curious to see his DK64 review though because... I really don't get why Nintendo never tried to expand on it with a sequel.

    Bless you Johnny, I think a lot of R&C fans like myself knew these games were going to be a real test but it's always a joy to see your own perspective when it comes to these. Generally speaking I think I largely feel the same way about both games, I really wanted to like Size Matters the compromised controls and camera is A LOT to ask and I even tried playing it on Vita to see if it's button mapping for the controller helped and unfortunately I couldn't quite get into it. Secret Agent Clank I actually do like because I do appreciate them trying to flesh out Clank with his own mechanics but even I can agree the game is drag especially over long periods.
    One thing I'm genuinely happy to say though is, it really doesn't get worse from here the R&C games are genuinely consistent going forward beyond this. The newer games do have elements people nitpick but IMO they're all fun.

    • @CassidyShadewing
      @CassidyShadewing 2 года назад +6

      I feel bad for Secret Agent Clank; it has the potential to be a good game and complete spin-off franchise. At its core it does everything well, its just they seemed to stretch things out to make a short game longer; which made it suffer. I highly repsect them trying to do something different rather then 'same gam but smaller' like Size Matters. Like this could have been a sorta -Sly Cooper-esque game if it had been made natively for a console. It would have been fun, I think, to have the occasional SAC game peppered in as something to give the series a little bit of varity.

    • @Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective
      @Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective 2 года назад +5

      @@CassidyShadewing Agreed. Like I genuinely like the fact they gave Clank his own adventure and more to a point tied it to Ratchet and Clank 3 in some form I just wish Insomniac kept the same brand of humour from the original trilogy going forward. I remember thinking the same about Daxter and his standalone game. Lost Frontier was also... not that bad IMO.

    No joke, I just got done watching a Battlebots tournament just like a week ago that was brand new. Make no mistake, that's been going since then. Some people doing it have been going since then! It was wild to me when I found that out! I watched that shit when I was a kid and then I checked it out and oop there's a few I remember, still trucking along.

    Due to the mostly negative reception of the game's by fans, Insomniac stated that both Size Matters & Secret Agent Clank are non canon so they don't have any major story impact on the other games save for a small reference or two.
    I have great memories playing Size Matters on road trips as a kid, but it doesn't hold up too well for me nowadays due to it feeling kinda janky. I beat Secret Agent Clank once when it first came out and I remember being exhausted by the end of it so I never touched it again.
    I can't wait to see what you think about the Future games, now that the series moves into a more cinematic and movie feel.

    I'm doing research on Going Commando for a future Let's Play and I found something interesting a while back: the devs basically shoehorned in Qwark into the game because they missed his brand of humor. So, they did put him in with those documentary episodes as a wya to remind people he still existed. Maybe it was the same thing here for these games, he kept getting included because the devs like working on his stuff.
    Also, I found a channel that has developer commentary from a couple guys who worked on the first 4 Ratchet and Clank games. Their GC playthrough was pretty interesting to listen to.
    As far as these games go, I never played them since I always heard negative things about them. Guess I was right to keep avoiding them.

    Always love hearing a Battlebots reference in any video I watch. Which shockingly has happened a few times with other channels I watch like Dead Meat and Mr.Sunday Movies. And in terms of your reference they were both few years to late while also being a few years to early. As Battlebots was revived way back in like 2015 by ABC. But they royally screwed it up only giving fans like 8 episodes a season with them being an hour long and only having 3 fights per episode. So you ended up with more minutes going to commercials than actually robots fighting. That lasted for two seasons and to no shock was cancelled as ABC wasn't happy with like 2 mill viewers. But thankfully Discovery Channel picked the show up after that and corrected all the issues. Giving us damn near 20 episodes a seasons with 2 hour long episodes and 7 fights per episode.

    Censored out the swearing, and tamed the graphic moments like a Red Section goon holding a kid(Logan's alleged daughter to an ex... Also censored the whole Mara and Dr Elsa making out in their lingerie scene in the extra mission that book ended The Omega Strain, which to this day, I still don't understand where that twist came from... Seriously, Mara Aramov and Dr Elsa Weissinger lovers, wut?... Like the whole Mara abandoning Dr Elsa in Australia to a cleanup squad thing in 3 never happened, rully?...

      @@IamaPERSON A number of things, but off the top of my head:
      1. The Guns are insanely overpowered to the point where you wouldn't need to use anything else, so this hack-and-slash pretty much devolves into a third-person shooter.
      2. You _shouldn't_ be using anything else anyways, because the game is badly designed and unbalanced (flying enemies and bosses, HP sponges, and sometimes both at once), so the guns are really the only thing that work.
      3. This is all on top of being about as archaic in it's design as DMC1, makes this game incredibly tedious to play.
      4. Dante hardly talks and is about as entertaining as wet cardboard, with only 1 (one) actually good line in the entire game.
      All of the above makes the game boring and simply not fun to play.
      ...Or so I've heard. As someone who already thought DMC1 wasn't my cup of tea, I thought it best for my sanity not to even EMULATE DMC2.
      Though it did give us Playable Trish and the Gun techniques that would become the Gunslinger Style in DMC3, so it's not... all... bad...?

    PS2 version of Size Matters is superior to the PSP since it has better graphics, better controls, higher quality cutscenes & extra unlockable costumes. The PS2 version of Secret Agent Clank on the other hand has awful loading issues that rival Sonic 06, glitches that don't exist on PSP, reworked textures across board but they look much more simplistic than on PSP, the cutscene quality is worse (480x272 on PSP, 256x224 on PS2) & has no extras unlike the PS2 version of Size Matters. The only real advantages of SAC on PS2 is that is has better controls & bolts are much more plentiful
