What also maybe could help is first singing along in your head while strumming, and mouthing the words along, so you don't get thrown of guard by your own voice, but you can also kinda practice that way. And then if you can sing it along in your head you can actually start to sing along.
You're the only youtuber from whom I've learnt playing ukulele. Thanks a lot for your videos.plz!!!! Do a tutorial of wolves by Marshmello and Selena gomez.
Thank you SOOOO much for your tutorials. Your rhythm for Somewhere over the Rainbow is pitch perfect. If you’re every inspired I’d love if you could do an easy tutorial for I’ll Fly Away with C, G and F
you know you've found an incredibly nice youtuber when almost all of the comments are hearted ^-^ and thanks so much for this video, today I was trying to figure out how to sing and strum at the same time... and then you uploaded lmao
Day 3 of learning to play ukulele! This was really helpful and helped me realize that it’s going to take time to sing and strum at the same time, and to not be so hard on myself 😊
i just want you to know that i know how to do this but you’re my favorite uke youtuber of all time and you help me sooo much! i’m basically pretty advanced in the uke bc of you, but you should make more videos like this but for guitar!!❤️🙂
I’ve been playing ukulele for one week now Bear in mind I have never played a musical instrument in my life I’ve just watch this video clip and nailed all the chords whistling the Tune I’m well delighted thank you
I originally chose this song to start learning for a talent show (this weekend) and I was practicing today, and I was still using only down strums, but then I seen this video. Thank you! For all of your videos! After watching this, I'm getting it down so much quicker
When I started Ukulele about a Year ago, humming the sung melody (instead of singing) helped me a lot keeping the focus on the Uke - then singing just the chorus - then sing and play together.
i find you way more clear than french teacher ! it's a little hard to learn english songs being french but thanks to you i'm capable of playing uke more or less comfortably !!!! love u :)
I got my first ukulele today and i still don't know how to do the cords, I'm kinda a difficult person to teach so this didn't help that much but it would probally when i learn the cords ty elise
Yes, thank you for the single strum advice. I found myself doing this in parts when I first tried to sing while playing.i will do it all the way now. Can’t wait to try it.
Thank you so much Elise, this is a second of your videos I watched and it's better and better. Thanks to the previous one I learned to play barre chords! I have just subscribed as you explanations are so very clear, helpful and the general tone uplifting and motivating. Your warm smile and kind words are nice too, thanks a lot and all the best! Enjoy the weekend :-)
I struggled with this when I first started (about a year ago) and learned by taking it slow, and I would start with humming while I played and sang the words later on!
i love how you are so willing to share your techniques. you have given such wonderful tips. i hope time will come that i will be able to play the ukulele as comfortable as you are playing it. all the best to your channel.
I never knew it was a struggle until I heard others complain and I was like... I WAS BLESSED (Ofc you know extra me never wanted to start with single downstrums. Went straight to complex singing and strumming) Like..how....how was I this blessed
Thanks that helped me out. I'm struggling with combining the strumming pattern and chords. But now I know better what to do and that I must slow down before adding the lyrics. I'm just a beginner and your tips have been really helpful❤
Me: ok what’s an easy song to learn My thoughts: I’m yours Me: let’s learn that My brain: learns it Me: ughhhh I cant sing and strum at the same time My thoughts: let’s see if Elise has a video about that Me: YESSSSS Me: watches video Elise: I’m going to use I’m yours as an example Me: OMG EVEN BETTER Thanks for the great vid 😊🦋
Girl thank you so much!!! I just got my own uk some weeks ago and as a beginner, I'm looking for a good reference and professors in RUclips. You are definetly one of them! Thank lots
When I watched this about 3 weeks ago, I couldn’t strums and sings together. I followed your technique and kept practising with different songs for 3 weeks and now I can do it😃. It takes a while to practise, but eventually you will get it.
the other day i was like "ughh i wanna learn how to sing and strum but i dont like how these other youtubers explain it..when is elise gonna put out a video on it" AND LITERALLY YOU DID thank you so much i needed this😂
True! Practice and feeling are everything. I started learning ukulele in 2015 and I admit that I had a hard time trying to strum and sing at the same time. I'm Yours by Jason Mraz was also the first song that I learned and I also started just by playing single down strum at first then by twos and so on and so forth. :) This is such a great video especially for those who are still beginners out there. Welcome to the ukulele club, guys! :)
My favorite strumming pattern is probably DDUDU I’ve been playing ukulele for 9 months now and I already know barre chords :) Elise you taught me a lot of tips and things which I love and I’m also self-taught, and now I’m learning guitar! (Also gonna teach myself guitar!) I love your videos so much, they really help me! :)
I loved that with my ukulele I could practice singing. For a long time I practiced only the down strums and it really gave to time to learn chords, learn how to get comfortable with playing an instrument, practice timing and practice my singing as well. Because the down strums where easy I could choose songs that where a bit harder and I could also experiment with choosing my own tempo and singing variations. To everyone that wants to play an instrument but is scared to. Buy a ukulele and just do the downstrums until you're comfortable doing more. It still sounds great and you can really practice how comfortable you are with an instrument.
Elise could you do a cover of one of Abbey Glover’s song? Her songs are incredible and I would love to hear a cover and maybe even a tutorial from you!! 💕💕 thanks for the tips loved the video
I don't even have a uke yet but you're my favourite channel and you betcha I'll be here non stop learning songs from you Absolutely incredible Elise 😍🙌
I started to watch your channel even though I hadn’t got an ukulele! And now I’m sitting with my own baby uke)) Thanks for all these help which you’re giving us ! :)
omgeee, just when im struggling in singing you belong with me with that 4 chords... Thank uuuuuuu, I knew it that I must practice single strum first... i loveeee yaaahhhhb
I bought a ukulele today bc I found this channel. Tysm I love my uke so much and I never would have gotten it if it weren’t for this channel. I used to play the guitar so I’m kinda catching on quickly. Ur videos help me so much. 💓✨👑
Thank you Elise, it's been a while since I picked up a guitar I used to play a little. I enjoyed strumming along and I do want to start playing again. I never had any lessons so your videos are helpful with good advice. I have never played a uke, but I have played a mandolin, another small 4 paired string instrument so I might pick that up again too.
