I first practiced the DDU UDU strumming pattern so much that i can't mess up when i sing and play

What also maybe could help is first singing along in your head while strumming, and mouthing the words along, so you don't get thrown of guard by your own voice, but you can also kinda practice that way. And then if you can sing it along in your head you can actually start to sing along.

Thank you Elise, it's been a while since I picked up a guitar I used to play a little. I enjoyed strumming along and I do want to start playing again. I never had any lessons so your videos are helpful with good advice. I have never played a uke, but I have played a mandolin, another small 4 paired string instrument so I might pick that up again too.
