  • Just picked up this baby Nile monitor that a person bought at the reptile expo without any knowledge of them and then started doing the research and realized how big they would get and what the care requirements were for and they called me to pick it up.

I fully admit to impulse purchasing a tegu, but I knew what I was in for and it took me about 5 minutes to finish getting a habitat set up when I got home.
I have seen so many people buy "cute little lizards" , things like Nile monitors, Tegus, Savannah monitors, and Green Iguanas, and not have any idea what was need or the size they would get to.

Exactly. I’m not really addressing people that are in the Harvey as much as people who are just starting out.

I mean for this little dude, took me 20 minutes to get the enclosure set up properly, but I had everything to do it because I’m prepared but most people aren’t prepared

@@ToddTheSnakeMan I knew I had an empty, appropriate sized enclosure, lights, bulbs, waterdish, hides and substrate just setting there ready to go, it was litterally dump the substrate and add the hides and water dish before she was in her new home
