Even the real brand names mess around with their ratings. Karcher, Sun Joe, Craftsman, Stanley, Greenworks and all the rest only rate the maximum pressure the pump is capable of producing and the maximum flow (which are inversely related and don't happen at the same time). They don't accurately state what the working pressure and flow is at the nozzle under normal operating conditions. Obsessed Garage did a series of videos a year or two ago, they tested practically all of the electric pressure washers on the market. They measured actual pressure at the gun and what the real output was (along with amp draw) under operating conditions, both with the stock gun/nozzles and an aftermarket gun/nozzle (optimized for washing cars).
I even tested a Chinese battery charger with a fluke 87v and measured much lower charge rates then advertised. That’s what you get for $10. Also If you read Chinese battery specs their cheaper then the best, lighter then the rest, and have 3-5x more capacity then anyone else.
You get what you pay for, I've had over 50 pressure washers over the past year(Covid hobby to repair and resell) just about all manufacturers overrate their PSI and even so many overate their HP if you look at motors that are rated in HP instead of Ft-Lbs of torque from back in the day. This is nothing new, marketing gimmicks to sell products. It's up to the consumer to educate themselves and if a consumer really thinks they are getting 3800 Psi out of an electric unit they didn't do even 5 minutes of research and it's their problem. Recently I got a Subaru EX13 on a unit and it's labeled on the unit as 5 hp...well Subaru rates it at 4.3 hp so..... When it comes to pressure washers they don't break from use they break from lack of maintenance and using them incorrectly. If you're in a cold climate and you don't winterize it or the pump is going to crack, and on electrics your plastic fittings are going to. Next if the unit has an always on motor you better not let it sit with the motor going and pressure built up. You will kill the pump valves/seals before you know it. My main lesson learned from the units I've bought is for the most part it's completely arbitrary if you have a cheap Chinese pump or a high quality pump(still most likely made in China) consumer misuse is going to kill it. I've literally had brand new units with fried pumps because the owner ran it without water or took a break while it was running. In fact I just picked up a 6 year old Vortexx that the guy broke 2 pumps because he ran them without water. I think he ran them dry to run the tanks out of gas at the end of the year and fried the seals. It's the only scenario that makes sense to me. I've only owned 1 electric unit, it's made by Vortexx out of Michigan and has the AR630TSS Hot pump on it by AR. It's an awesome unit that I bought new because the dealer had only this one left. Granted it was $1,000 so it's not competing with any big box store pressure washers and any normal consumer is not going to buy it...heck I still don't know why I bought it... If I was going to buy a normal electric unit I'd buy either a Karcher, DeWalt or Briggs unit. They are made to last 5-10 years then replace them. It's sad but that's the product life cycle consumers are willing to pay for.
What a great explanation on why the specs can't be accurate based on the specs of the hose capacity, GFI rating, and power cable wire gage. It seems credible and makes sense. I almost bought a 3800 psi electric pressure washer until I saw its true performance in a YT video. No way that was 3800 psi. Thanks for the clear explanation!
Would really like to purchase an electric power washer made in the US, but I'm really having trouble finding one. Generac makes one, supposedly in the US, but the Amazon page says it was made in China. Simpson makes one in the US, but 20% of buyers give it 1 star. Any reason you didn't provide a list here?
Same with aftermarket batteries. The price tag and warranty are very appealing. Unfortunately when the battery quits a year into the 5 year warranty, you won't get a response. Thanks for the great video 👍
I have never had good luck with electric pressure washers every single one had has failed The best one I’ve ever owned has been a gas powered Honda that I paid over $800 for over 15 years and I just change the oil in the pump and the engine and I maintain it if you maintain the damn pressure washer it will last a long time put stabilizer in the gas when you’re not using it occasionally go start it up let it run for a couple minutes and then turn it off if you’re not gonna use it make sure you connect the water hose or it will burn up the pump but other than that don’t buy an electric pressure washer in my opinion
I fell for this scam with a "4000 PSI" PowRyte electric pressure washer on Amazon. What a total joke. That thing isn't any better than a focused garden hose spray nozzle with no pressure washer at all. I don't think it was more than 150 PSI. Fortunately it was an easy return, but what a waste of time!
I made a huge mistake and bought a electric power washer . The biggest problem is that it has a electric . Cord management is a problem . You have the cord , the water hose to deal with . The water hose at the connection point to the washer sometimes leaks . You can only use it relatively close to the car or fence .
It’s such a. A shame, i wish they made things in this country, my grandfather told me once that things made in house usually las a lot longer and the people who make it Standby their products. I think amazon needs to remove that pressure washer from their website for false advertising.

I've had the Greenworks and ended up going with a Dewalt. Nothing against Greenworks but the Dewalt is just better.

I'm glad I watched ur videos on these junk power washers before buying one. I went with the 1900 psi Ryobi electric instead. 3 yr warranty for $149
Where you’re talking about 110v. Max psi 2300. If you have a 220v, would it still be lying if the psi claim is more?
Like the video👍👍
