    Every company that makes Electric Pressure Washers seems to have misleading marketing!!
    We all have different budgets and wants for tools! Regardless of your budget, we want the tool to last longer than the second use. Since the introduction of Amazon, we have all been introduced to many new companies that do not have to deal with a return rate in a store or fight for shelf space. These companies can change names overnight and even sell the same tools under multiple names.
    If that is not bad enough, these companies find people willing to give them a 5-star review if they send them a free tool. So, Amazon Reviews are not accurate? Yeah, there was a legal issue over that a few years ago and it "should" have stopped. Did it? Hell no. But the good news is the people who are fooled into buying the junk are speaking out with 1-star reviews. Pay attention to bad reviews and if you buy stuff, please leave reviews as it helps all of us.
    These pressure washers are full of marketing BS claiming 3,000 PSI and showing a rated PSI of 2,300. The gallons per minute are rated with the soap nozzle. There is so much junk and poor English in the manual that it is hard to read. If I can make one suggestion, stay a long way from these pressure washers as they are total garbage.
    Watch the video. Leave a comment. Help your Neighbor. But Do NOT buy one of these!

    Great video and thanks for the mention! I would like to add that the Greenworks and Ryobi seemed to be 2 among the best electric pressure washers that actually were close to their claims. The GWP3000 DOES make 3000 psi, but the maximum WORKING pressure with water flowing out the nozzle was about 2400. There’s so many variables to the numbers provided like you mentioned, and I think manufacturers need to start being more modest with their ratings. It’s also important for consumers to understand these ratings by doing their research and watching videos like this 😃 Like you mentioned at the beginning of the video, if you want x amount of pressure and x amount of GPM, you’re just going to need a gas unit, period. It seems most of these non-commercial electric washers are limited by the amperage they can draw, typically 15 amps on a typical house breaker. Anything above that, and a commercial 220-240v electric washer, or a gas unit would be needed. That being said, I would say that for MOST people, the Ryobi or Greenworks units would be enough for their personal needs around the house.

    I have my little electric (SunJoe) for very small things... but I have a 4000 PSI, 4 gallon/minute Simpson gas pressure washer for the real work
    I did swap out my fittings for quick disconnects on my electric washer and it never leaks plus I have the better hose that is wrapped in nylon or Kevlar whatever that is so that when I unwrapped that line and lay it straight it stays straight
    Good Stuff Brian...👍

    If you want electric power, you need 240 volts. But be prepared to pay 2-3 times the price of a gas one.
    I had all of them, cheap electric 120v most expensive electric 120v, small gas powered one. I finally settled on a stationary 240v unit in my garage. It's powerful, quiet for the neighbors, i can use it whenever i want. No need to winterize it, no maintenance, but it was pretty expensive. As most garage tool, buy once, cry once.

    Fantastic video you put together! I am glad I came across it while searching for a pressure washer. I have been spending a few weeks looking for a sale and comparing models. I had a gas pressure washer before that was 3200 PSI and was very powerful. I now regret getting rid of it (I only used it once or twice a year). I figured this time around with an electric one I wouldn't have to worry about the pump freezing in the winter because I could bring the whole unit into the house. You don't want to try that with a gas washer. Also with gas units you need to keep the water running or you can damage the pump. My manual said to shut off after 5 minutes of sitting idle or damage can result in the pump. With the electric pressure washers they shut off when you release the trigger so no damage.
    The sad thing about electric pressure washer while searching on-line is you are one 100% right. They lie about their specs! Even the famous big stores and on-line favourite shopping sites have electric pressure washers that can't possibly reach their advertised ratings. Anyone that knows anything about voltage, current and power knows they are out to lunch with their specs.
    I might have to go back to a gas pressure washer because I really don't want to reward dishonest advertising. So much for cutting back on fossil fuel.

    Thanks man. I need to replace my old broken 4000 psi gas pressure washer and I was considering upgrading by switching to electric and going up to 4500 psi unit on 120 volts but those numbers sounded way too good to be true. I actually seen some electric 4500 psi units on Amazon thats 4x cheaper that the gas types. So, I start doing my due diligence and the illusion started to unravel. Then I seen your video and it confirmed my suspensions. The only way I get 4500 psi with an electric pressure washer is probably to step up to a 240 volt or a 460 volt unit and that still may not even exceed 3000 psi using a 25° tip. Plus I'm not about to install several 460 volt outlets around the outside my house just to make it work and find out it still dont work. That dream is crushed. I'm going to stick to what I know and get a 4500 psi gas washer. At least with that, I should get a true 4000+ psi using a 25° tip. 😎👍

    This is my 3rd gas pressure washer from dewalt to ryobi brand with 4000 psi we used it at my work and I also have electric sunjoe and marcher 1700psi for cars only cause anything above 2k psi are not recommended for car washing, my electric one outlast my gas pressure washer. I like my electric pressure washer it’s better than using regular hose and less water if I compare.

    It's pretty frustrating for naive consumers like myself. The Kärcher K 5 unit I bought has "2300 psi" plastered all over the marketing info, but the user's guide reveals the true working pressure is only 12 MPa (1740 PSI), with a flow of 6.8 L/min (about 1.8 GPM). And I guess that's only achievable with the ideal orifice size (which I believe would be a #3).

  • @andrewhornfeck7421
    @andrewhornfeck7421 2 года назад +1

    GreenWorks Pro stated 2.3 GPM w/100 psi water input yet 1.2 GPM at some “unstated” water psi. What psi input water have you used for your testing?

    • @brandonbonewell9972
      @brandonbonewell9972 Год назад

      He shows in another video he has a comercial water line which far exceeds anything available at a residence. That was both flow and pressure.

    • @brandonbonewell9972
      @brandonbonewell9972 Год назад

      Also I believe the 100 PSI reference is outflow pressure. This means when you have the low pressure (100 PSI) soap nozzle , you get 2.3 GPM flow. When you use the other high pressure nozzles, you get 1.2 GPM flow.

    Thanks, i can put this equation 0.6 watt/psi (note different gpm nozzle make the running psi differently) to shop, @2:25 summary of the power output theory, this electronic unit 2500psi, 2.5 GPM, 1800 watt ~ 2HP (100% efficient) but a gas unit required 5HP for 2500psi, 2.5 GPM output. I have seen another video, the running psi for this kind of design is about 900-1100 psi running pressure with 1.76GPM. AND I've seen 4000psi max output unit on ebay, and the unit specification is running at 3000psi, 1.6GPM (6.1 LPM), 2500w ~3HP (100% efficient) , are they able to produce this output? or by ratio it run at 2500w, 1350-1650psi and never pass the watt number? last thought, smaller nozzle GPM output may increase the psi such as the new ryobi 3000psi running at 2700psi and using 1.1GPM nozzle

    I did notice that sometimes lights on the same extension cord will dim a bit.
    After doing the horsepower to watts conversion, I see that it’s trying to draw over 30A. No wonder my wimpy 12 ga extension cord isn’t sufficient.
    Or, perhaps, the motor is measured in 5 *newborn horse* power :)

      In electric, you will not find it unless you pay big bucks. 1800 watts... 120 volts at 15 amps can only get you so much. You might find 2300 psi at 1.0 gpm even though it is advertised at much more.

    • @Methodical2
      @Methodical2 2 года назад +1

      These type units will work to clean cars, but no pressure washer is going to clean dirt off paint like soap and water and cleaning rag. Those touchless car washes can't even remove dirt from a car. You still need the old fashion soap, water and cleaning rage. Plus, you don't want to be sitting on the paint with too high pressure. You can use it to spray on a soapy foam and to clean some heavy dirt and grit off the paint and under the wheel weld etc. before apply a cleaning rag to the pain to reduce the change of scratches. I hope you don't expect it to remove dirt from the car without you using soap, water and cleaning rag.

    • @l00nybin

      @@Methodical2 no, more like a high pressure soap dispenser to really pound the soapy water onto the grime and then rinse it.
