Very cool list! 🧡 Personally, I've read more of the comics than books in Star Wars, but a lot of those were good as well. The Darth Vader comics, Darth Vader Dark Lord of the Sith, Doctor Aphra, Obi-wan and Anakin, Son of Dathomir, and Star Wars the title print were all so good and dove me into a part of the galaxy I wasn't too familiar with and were all so fantastic for rekindling my love of the franchise. It helped to find a place that didnt feel to big to catch up and understand more with good stories.
I’m looking to read my first Star Wars book after I finish reading The Way of Kings! Going to jump in with Lost Stars, as a YA adventure sounds like a great cooldown from the beast that is Stormlight Archive!
Love these kind of lists! Here's my own limited Cannon tier list so far since I haven't read very many yet: S - Lost Stars, Into the Dark A - The Rising Storm, Vader (2017), Master and Apprentice, Lando (2015) B - Vader (2015), Star Wars (2015), High Republic Comics Vol1. C - Shadows of the Sith, Light of the Jedi
@@Youtini Ha, guilty as charged, though I've never actually actively sought out books because she was the author on them. I'd never heard of her before I started reading Cannon books, Lost Stars was just a free one I got access to from Kindle Unlimited, Master and Apprentice was just a story about 2 characters I wanted to read more about, and Into the Dark was just the next book on the recommended read order for the High Republic. That said, at this point I know I like her style enough that if I had to choose between two books that both sounded interesting, but one was written by her and another was written by anyone else short of maybe Brandon Sanderson, I'm probably going to pick up her book. Same situation I had with Christie Golden back in the day, basically all my favorite Blizzard tie in books were written by her so I started to target her books specifically once I realized the connective tissue between the ones I liked was her authorship, which, speaking of which, makes me excited to learn from your video Golden has done star wars books as well. But back on Gray, she's quite literally the reason I'm now open to reading YA books regardless of author despite being a man in his 40s, as she proved to multiple times that YA can be enjoyed by all ages when written well.
The only political-ish/spy thriller book that hangs with Bloodline is Rogue One: Catalyst. I feel like a crazy person with how good that book was, and not seeing it in other peoples top 10/5/3 haha. Loved everything on this list, the only one's I haven't touched yet are the Aftermath Trilogy (book 1 was rough to try and get through) and Alphabet Squadron is still on my list.
Catalyst is SO good!! We went back and forth on putting it in here too, but it expands Rogue so beautifully. And there's nothing wrong with books on your reading list! Just means you have more to look forward to
I am reading bloodline now and am about halfway through. I love it so far - I’m a big fan of the political intrigue type books. Did you read aftermath? I keep hearing bad things about that one. I still need to read Catalyst.
@@InBetweenSound I have tried and failed to get through aftermath several times... but I hear the 2nd and 3rd installments in the trilogy improve greatly. It will almost certainly be relevant with the new stretch of marvel comics we are expecting. That said, Catalyst is so good lmfao
@@Simplyhaack Yea, I think the first Aftermath book was just okay, but the second and third get SIGNIFICANTLY better, so I'd say they're absolutely worth reading!!
This was such a great list! You’ve really inspired me to read more. And I’m so glad you mentioned Dark Disciple. That’s absolutely one of my all time favorites!
Rising Storm is my favorite book I have ever read, the emotions and excitement I got when reading it have yet to be matched. However, I can not complain about this list at all, Light of the Jedi is awesome and the Rising Storm just continues that awesomeness.
SW Canon gets a lot of flak, and sometimes rightfully so. But I will always appreciate the intent behind it's creation... the EU was an undeniable mess. Things needed to be standardized. I personally enjoy the Ohasma novel quite a bit, as well as all the new Thrawn books (which, to be very honest, fleshed him out far better that the original trilogy), and the Dooku novel. Ooh, Canto Bight was also surprisingly enjoyable and very underrated, in my opinion. The anthology-type style they went through with it made it an easy, enjoyable, and thrilling read
Master and apprentice is an all timer for me. However, the former, LOTJ, Thrawn, and Dark Disciple are all 10/10’s. Even though I like Rising Storm more than LOTJ and don’t think Lost Stars is a perfect book. These are still phenomenal books that have shaped me as a SW fan. Some of my honorable mentions would be Brotherhood, Rise of the red blade, and Shadow of the Sith.
Good list. A little surprised Rebel Rising ranked so well. I read that book, but couldn't tell you a single thing about it. Jyn Erso is just not very interesting to me. I much prefer Beth Revis's adult novel, The Princess and the Scoundrel.
Bloodline is one of the few books that has made me stop in my tracks ... that late, emotional twist. Ugh. Still gets me. Incredible writing.
I just wanna know about the napkin.

Those are all SUPER solid entries. Dark Lord of the Sith is still one of the best pieces of Star Wars content, period.

It'll definitely be a shift! You can probably fit 5 Lost Stars inside of The Way of Kings 😂 Both fantastic journeys.

I see a lot of Claudia Gray near the top there!! 👀

I mean how can you argue with a book that includes Elzar Mann throwing a lightsaber on the back of a dragon?
Oh man the Alphabet Squadron had me hooked! What a fantastic series. But easily my favorite is the Ascendancy trilogy happy to see it make the cut!
Both belong in the Hall of Fame!
I absolutley love Youtini :)
Thank you so much!! We LOVE our community!
Great list, no objections

There are so many different types of cool books in Canon right now. Sometimes an anthology is just what you need in the midst of longer journeys.
Sees the blue pages and instantly knows
Didn’t disappoint.
However. I’d swap our Lost Stars with Phasma.
And id prob add living Force but not sure what I’d take out.
That's exactly the conundrum we have so often. There are so many good books that it's hard to see what you wanna take out!

I love that your HMs are all from the past year or so! So much great stuff coming out so recently
A New Dawn is underrated.
VERY underrated. Set the tone for all of Canon
Good list.

That one was SO much fun! Definitely need more Han and Leia in Canon.
