Both the canon book and tales of the jedi is teaching the same story but dramatized differently and shorten it's the same outline but different POV it's not the same like when TCW retcon the Mulitmedia project because C Canon EU material was never canon to george and large potions of that tier of canon was retcon into S canon.

In my opinion, if you go back and watch A New Hope, the quality does NOT hold up. Yes, the story is there, but it's so familiar it's stale at this point. You can tell this was never meant to launch a mega franchise.

The High republic is quite good. I just think that its having teh same problem than the EU had in its later years...Character overbloating. Too many Characters with strange names and less time to develop them. Those Characters are standing in each others way to some extend. I think a little less would have been more.
