thank you so much. I care for my son's labrador three days a week. Due to mobility problems I cant really walk him and distance, and the only place I feel I can take him is to an enclosed dog park. I would love to take him to the beach, an open park etc, but I am too scared he would wander off and I would never get him back. He thinks everything is a game of chasey so I would never catch him once I let him go. Thanks again.

This was a great start for me to do recall work with an adult standard poodle I adopted recently. I really appreciate it a lot, so thank you. There was one thing that bothered me though. It’s that you called out specific breeds as very aggressive dogs. Please don’t do this, it attaches and reinforces the stigma to a specific breed, when the reality is that all dogs are capable of aggression. Any dog with the drive for it is completely capable of chasing down a critter and hurting it. As it happens i previously had a (different) standard poodle and a rottweiler: the poodle is the one I had to watch as he loved chasing rats and rabbits, while the rottweiler would just chase the poodle and ignore the rats. Also, it can potentially set people up to trust animals on sight that maybe are not trustworthy - evidenced by the bite statistics of certain smaller breeds.

I need to break her habit of wanting to chase vehicles when she is off leash. I am working on improving recall, but it is not working when a car comes down our country road, any suggestions as to a good video to watch to resolve this habit.
Is a dog ever too old to learn this? I have a 1 year old pit bull boxer mix. He is naturally a great family dog but I am trying to make up for lost time with training due to working. Just wondering if it’s too late
Have you ever thought of doing a series for new owners? I'll be getting a dog soon (we have an older one, that is thankfully very gentle and easy to work with) but I know the new dog won't be the same. I'm educating myself on puppy training etc. But I'd really love a guide like week by week what to do to have a well behaved dog. I'm scared that I'd forget to teach something
Thank you for this video! My husband and I are adopting a stray puppy and are currently teaching her recall. My question is, do you think it would be ok if we take turns training her, or do you think that would confuse her to have two handlers.
Hello, At which month should I start working with this type of collars? I have a Cane Corso 4 months old. However, I have some issues with recalling him, after 15 to 20 minutes he starts to bite the leash and trying to go back home. I dont know if its normal on puppies.
As always a great video! I thought my 7 month old Tamaskan had amazing recall by 4 months but instinct is kicking in a lot and he loves to meet other dogs. Although saying that, when we go to obedience class and he's working he's amazing again. I know others have asked about the slip lead but I only see the normal length slip lead and the training leash on the website. The training leash doesn't look like a slip lead, do you use a combo of both or is the long slip out of stock?
I love Puppy!! :) In another video you were using the clicker. It seems that the same principle applies with both the "Puppy come" and "clicker" that the initial training for recall means, 1) get the dog's attention and 2) when the dog started to come to you (or whatever behavior) you either click or say "Puppy come/heal/etc" to reinforce the behavior. Is that correct?
What happens when using a slip lead and your puppy charges for a bird or something, how would it work then? Or if they are so intense smelling the blade of grass that you have to pull them? My puppy ignores me & I have to pull on the long line.
So the last step is to cement all the learned training with an e-collar. So if you don't mind me asking, what used to happen b4 there were e-collars. Did dog owners and the police dog handlers call their dogs back being content that their dogs would "most probably" come back to them, not 20minutes later with a little dead dog dripping blood, hanging from it's blood soaked jaws?
I just want to to say thanks for your videos. I had a dog when I was a child but he "zach" ran away/stolen...pretty sure he was stolen because we lived in such a place he would have no where to go but plenty of people would get drunk and come loieter because it was right beside a big lake. And he was a teddy bear just beautiful lab. Anyway it broke my heart as a kid. And these videos as an adult now has taught me how to properly care for one and am proud i will be receiving an ausssieshererd/bernese mountain mix,..."Liea" soon. Can't wait so thanks for the info and courage. Cheers.
I bet you the dog was too much work for your parents and they gave him away or worse. They could not tell you because doing this might cause you to resent them . Don't take this the wrong way but as the other reasons you gave are plausible so is this.
My English Staffordshire just pulls and pulls. If I use a collar she just chokes herself terribly. This is a wonderful guide. How do I get my dog to get calm like yours?
Certainly, just be prepared for a longer time to implement your plan, and understand that dependent upon the amount of "instinct " the dog has, it may take more time for the results your looking for.
For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕

Thank you for this video! My husband and I are adopting a stray puppy and are currently teaching her recall. My question is, do you think it would be ok if we take turns training her, or do you think that would confuse her to have two handlers.
can you tell me what treats you use please?
i always tell everyone here/come/recall will save your dogs life!
Hello,
At which month should I start working with this type of collars? I have a Cane Corso 4 months old. However, I have some issues with recalling him, after 15 to 20 minutes he starts to bite the leash and trying to go back home. I dont know if its normal on puppies.
She looks like a little tosa 😊
When will your training slip lead be available
As always a great video! I thought my 7 month old Tamaskan had amazing recall by 4 months but instinct is kicking in a lot and he loves to meet other dogs. Although saying that, when we go to obedience class and he's working he's amazing again. I know others have asked about the slip lead but I only see the normal length slip lead and the training leash on the website. The training leash doesn't look like a slip lead, do you use a combo of both or is the long slip out of stock?
CLASS!!! Will those long slip leads be for sale any time?? It’ll be great to help with my German Shorthair that I’ve re-homed
As a R+ trainer myself, your using negative reinforcement with pressure on lead. Why would you then use a shock collar??
I love Puppy!! :)
In another video you were using the clicker.
Nice video
What happens when using a slip lead and your puppy charges for a bird or something, how would it work then? Or if they are so intense smelling the blade of grass that you have to pull them? My puppy ignores me & I have to pull on the long line.
Great video
Congrats on getting Puppy back
Would you use the prong collar for this 1st stage recall training?
Cheers
Pete
Oh you are perfect
He has loads of videos for pulling, check the other videos out on his channel
Hey Ric, check out our video with Sandy and how Will managed to get him to stop pulling in just one session: ruclips.net/video/DU1Kz7NWrWc/видео.html
Can you train a low content wolfdog this way
Certainly, just be prepared for a longer time to implement your plan, and understand that dependent upon the amount of "instinct " the dog has, it may take more time for the results your looking for.
Can you still train 2.5 years old dog to come on cue? Or will this be too old? Thank you ❤
never too old, never too late.
could just take a litte longer
@@hanswurst2220 thank you! I will try as soon as I can.
