K... 2 things on peppers: 1: It's a joke. 2: We add coal or charcoal to pig iron to add carbon content... while the peppers burn down to near pure carbon at forging temp - it is a miniscule amount as he is already using high carbon steel. Brings us back to 1. Next (process steps): - Weld - Draw - Repeat X Times for Pattern - Final Draw - Hog* (hogging off excess/low carbon steel, especially for Cannister Damascus) - Shape (Tip, Tang, Trailing Edge, Edge (or edges)) - Initial Cleanup/Polish - Anneal - Thermocycle - Quench - Form, Fit, Finish.

Guys the reason he added the chilli peppers is because in Russian the word for “spicy” is also the same as “sharp” ( ostriy ) so essentially he added “sharpness” to the blade 😂. It’s a play on words. Hope that clears it up 👍

The chain mail was probably made from either stainless or nickel steel and the powder steel was one of the 10 series high carbon steels. The nickel or stainless steel does not darken in the acid wash, but the carbon steel does, so you see the contrasting pattern. The blu coloration was created by heating the balde to a specific temperature. Steel changes color depending on the temperature it is raised to. As temps rise, first it turns a straw color, then a darker straw/bronzish, then deep purple/blue then to lighter blue, then grey. To get really even color it takes an oven with precise temp control, or a really skilled hand with a torch. While that blue is pretty, unfortunately, it makes the steel too soft to hold a good edge. That blade would be strictly decorative and not really useful. Although, it is a dagger design, so it would still stab you quite easily.

Dear Sir, I am a knife maker myself, and I like the look of this, however I am inquiring as to the type of steel used in the gloves.....? I know in my area most are made of 316 stainless, and that would not forge weld together although maybe in a canister without oxygen....I have not tried...If you could share any tips it would be appreciated...Love your work

This is SO cool. Do you sell anything that you make? I come from a long line of knife grinders from Italy and I LOVE IT. I love that it's such a different and interesting skill to have. I've had the pleasure of sharpening some awesome stuff, antique blades and very old relics. We don't get to forge our own blades though, because we're not supposed to be a monopoly, but I wish we could. You do amazing work you're very talented I hope you keep at it 🔪🔪🔪

Meaning that nobody else can join in on the market, due to your influence. Even if you had a supply chain of different businesses making and delivering the knives. There is nothing stopping other people from also doing the same thing. Unless your business has such a large market share that you essentially control the market price and can bully other businesses out of the market. Simplest example is drug cartels, they control everything, they essentially own the market and nobody else can just start selling drugs.

The stuff he sprinkles onto it is not pepper, if you mean the powder stuff, it's usually iron filings, plus stuff like borax, sometimes fine silica sand, which acts like a flux and helps keep down oxidation so the surfaces (in this case, all the rings) weld together during the forging process. Everyone uses various amounts of different substances so you would have to ask him specifically what is in the mix. The chili pepper will burn up the oxygen in the box.

Это уже не кустарная "резьба то табуретке на наждаке", это инкрустация золотом. И если автор ножичка сможет собрать для своего ножичка ТАКУЮ рукоять, то честь ему и хвала. When you put peppers on the metal, it preheats it so it takes less time to get hot

Иещё у меня вопрос -придание основной формы клинку после цементации и закалки разве не стачивает самую прочную часть клинка?
Было бы здорово увидеть на этих клинках такие же фантастичные рукояти, наверняка есть пару фоток, которые надо выставить в конце какого-нибудь ролика. А? 👍

@@АнатолийКондров 6ыдлo, тише вопли! "Гонишь"- это когда на телеге поедешь. Я ролик смотрел, потому и запостил. Рукоятка клинка вместе с гардой и навершием, которая меня поразила качеством и аккуратностью исполнения, в видео по ссылке на 28-58. Это уже не кустарная "резьба то табуретке на наждаке", это инкрустация золотом. И если автор ножичка сможет собрать для своего ножичка ТАКУЮ рукоять, то честь ему и хвала. А нахерачить на клинок накладки из паркетины, закрепить их заклёпками и обточить на наждаке и я могу. Доступно?

Unsure what he paints the canister with, but the peppers make sure its sharp.
