    Awesome work John, the knife looks great! 😍👌🏻🔪 .... really enjoyed the Director's cut, that main bevel scene brings a whole new angle to the video! 😉 ..... Chock full of funny bits, but also a lot of great information and it's definitely something I will use as a reference when I'm ready to make a knife! 👍🏻👊🏻

    Looking at the comments, I can see this is a 4ish year old video, so if you manage to see this, I guess I'd be lucky. But an idea I had while I was watching your video, I came across a question for kitchen knives in general. In sword making, they have a blood groove, The reason being not only to let the blood out, but to make an uneven part so air can get in, releasing any sort of vacuum. Something like this would also benefit in the kitchen for when you're, say, cutting an union, so the onion slices don't stick to the blade. Could you put either a blood groove, or just a straight hole halfway in the blade to help things release from the knife while chopping? Another idea, would be instead of a flat 20 degree angle when making the blade.. have it start at, say 10 degrees, and work up to 20 for an ever so slight curve, and eliminating the huge flat area.
    Just questions from a curious person. Thank you if you do see this.

      I must not be very observant. The only thing I think I noticed was the tape on the sandpaper trick. But, I watch videos when they come out for entertainment purposes. When I actually get around to building something, I go back and watch much more carefully.

    • @GrazMakes
      @GrazMakes  4 года назад +1

      ha, its the section where i put the main bevel on the knife with the bevel jig. its only about a minutes long, but its one of the most important steps!

    Do you have a specific angle you like setting your bevel guide to? Or do you go just based off the knife?

    • @GrazMakes
      @GrazMakes  4 года назад

      It really depends on the knife and how abused it’s going to be, for a chopper/bushcraft knife I would go like a 30 degree bevel and for a kitchen style knife I would go 15-20 degree. Thanks for the question and for watching!!
