There's no doubt that Justin is the best guitar teacher on the Internet. This is the place to study Crossroads! I slowed down the original tape and Justin's performance was perfectly accurate. The explanations are clear and friendly. My score: 100%
Excellent. This is the best instructional video for this solo that I have found. Thanks. Just spent about a week with this video and have got it nailed down. The key is to take it slow and play it clean and then slowly speed up to the correct tempo. If you can't play it clean at a slow speed you will never play it clean at the normal speed. Now, WHERE IS THE 2ND SOLO!!!!!! lol
Justin, i have been playing for decades, and watching you for years. AWESOME job, not only on this, but every lesson you pull off. it's a pleasure to watch you, and even learn a few things, its also fun to play right along with your lesson in real time LOL Show me once and I'm on it. We would have made great band mates.Take care and keep up the great work.
Just came across this, ur note by note lessons are Awesome!! And No Ego for as good as u are! I see guys with a lot less to offer, sportin Big Heads. You're one of my Heros, Thanks
This wasn't even close to being on my radar as a song/lick I wanted to learn. You teach it so well that I am compelled to sit and learn it. You break down each lick in a way that is so easy to follow. You are using terms that I understand. Thank you!!!!!!!!!! Great Video.
On my first go at this lesson when it was first posted, I got through the first part, but lost steam into the second because of the noticeable shift in pace. Since then a bit of time has passed and I've improved as a player. Now I've come back and managed to follow through with the whole thing! So, long story short, I find your pace to be very good now that I have improved as a player myself. I would even prefer your future videos be like the later part of this. Thanks a lot!
One of the most informative lessons I have seen on this media. Great examples of EC style and how he mixes and matches major and minor scales throughout the chord changes. Well done!
Great job Justin. Following the chord changes and using major and minor pentatonic scale are important concepts. Your methodogy is spot on and your rxplanstions are concise. Absolutely wonderful. Thanks.
I've been playing guitar for many, many years and I've seen lots of lessons on how to play "Crossroads." I've never, ever seen one that got it totally right ..... that is, until now. You have absolutely nailed it, Justin! You play it as close to the original as anyone could possibly do it, I believe. Outstanding commentary also, which adds SO much to the learning experience. I love how you point out the intricacies involved in playing this monumental solo the way Clapton played it. Great stuff!!
Justin, for me, you are a God send. I have grabbed a lot of your You Tube lessons and am going to work all of them. It will take some time and I hope I have the time lefy.(that's another story. But I want to thank you for sharing all your talent with us. God Bless. MW
Nice job here by Justin. This is a classic solo that ALL rock guitar players need to learn. If you're interested in a different take on this I cover it on my site as well. cheers
Another really great job, Justin. This is a busy solo and hard to pick up because the notes are close together and played fast. A master class lesson on jumping major to minor scales You did it!
Awesome lesson justin!!thanks for the upload, had to go back a few times and listen to each lick closly but i was able to learn the whole solo, thanks again!
I urge everyone to make a donation on JG's site (I'm not affiliated) - Think of how much all this content would cost if you got it through a teacher. Go on - give him $20 - do it!! Justin keep it up man absolutely brilliant stuff and I agree with a previous comment - up there with the best lessons on the entire interwebs
As a guitar teacher you have it nailed i.e. perfect understanding of challenges for players and perfect tempo to lesson..plus..you don't patronise i.e. you assume viewers have some aptitude already on guitar..nice one Justin !
Awesome lesson for an awesome solo.I personally love this pace- I can learn it quick with the slow run through(and the miracle of video rewinding) and when I have time, go to the nitty-gritty details. Love it,
Justin, Thanks for the lessons, they are excellent. I find your step by step, lick by lick approach the easier and best way for me to learn. I would love to learn the solo's in "Why does love have to be so sad". Understand you have alot going on!
Well done. I hope you can teach the second solo and also explain that the song, during the lyrics, is off beat giving its tempo that is difficult to replicate and sound like cream did the original live version. Thank you
top lesson justin thanks, Its a bit hard for me yet but I'm working at what you're teaching us , LISTENING and working out where the chord changes are, and guess what, when you realize where the changes are, its a big buzz, like the penny drops, and another piece in the jigsaw of the big picture comes in, if there's a word for ' better than awsome' this lesson deserves that word,... can't thank you enough, you're a f'kin top man, :-)
