Aah, another sunday, another review. Life is good! Despite being a tenor I like this one. Slotted tuning head is nice 😀 The price seem to be fair too, considering the goodiebag and the case! Thanks a lot for the review! Wish you all the best! Hugs from Sweden 🥰
Thanks Baz, great review, agree the logo is so much better than the last. Could I ask a question on a construction item. Looking on the sound hole shot, there looks as if there is grain patterning on the inside. Could this be veneer on the inside ?. Just wondered. Love the headstock to be fair and not a brand I would have considered before. I have a crossrock case and it is my favourite and is very similar. Again great review, thanks for taking your time out o share. Have a great week.
@@GotAUkulele This is why your reviews and guidance is so, so useful. To an ordinary unsuspecting buyer, I would never have known. One to consider for future purchases and may be another to go to a specialist store. You have a great week.
I own a MrMai case just like this! It is not only super cool looking, functional & very sturdy but surprisingly light in weight. All costs added it was 109,-€ to bring it to my door. This is (just) the case! Considering this the price for this instrument/case combo is fair game, especially as it includes free shipping!
Really like the look of this one! Sounds nice and a comfort edge that doesn't stand out is nice. The main thing that makes me not consider a purchase it is the far eastern neck because of your videos I have noticed that just like you that kind of neck is not very comfy for me to play either. Great review as always.
Hmm. I have the same wood-chevrons soundhole rosette on my Kala all-solid acacia tenor that I bought about 5 years ago. Perhaps an option offered by that particular Chinese factory? My Kala was about $400, as I recall, but it was all solid wood and and sounds great … now that I have polished most of the finish off the soundboard
I like this one it has nice looks and inlays. I like the neck dot scheme as well. A little expensive.. agreed! It has a sweet sound . I would like it at about $250 or around abouts maybe up to $280. Thanks for another nice review…DOC
There must be a factory in china that has this templet because I have a ukulele that is exactly the same as this but the brand is bright sun, I liked the look along with the build, finish, decorations etc. They had these mr mai ukes as well but I didn't like the logo they were using at the time so got mine which has a letter b as the logo but it looks like a funky number 8 and I liked it, it's nice and symmetrical logo 😂 but apart from that they are identical. Mine is a concert and only cost £180 direct from a Chinese site similar to our ebay/amazon about 3/4 years ago. It's a really nice instrument and even sounds a lot like this. I think this Mr mai is priced a little high £220 ish seems about fair. J
I would say it’s not a bad price at all because of the quality of the case. If it was just a simple gig bag, I would say it is overpriced, but that case is better than most I have seen with that level of instrument.
They certainly goofed by putting gloss on a neck. Would I sand it off of a brand new ukulele? Where’s my sandpaper? Other than that I like it. Thanks Baz.
I would say this is on par with a flight solid top like the princess range ( I have a Sofia but with a soundwave) at this price point but I don't think they do a koa it's very nice tone has a warmth I like.
OK, so those are low 200's in the UK - case nowhere near this good. Not Koa. Still think this is a touch expensive, but with the 10% discount they are offering it seems a good deal.
My goodness, that strap certainly stands out! Is it my imagination, though, or does this instrument not actually have any strap buttons to attach it to?
@@GotAUkulele. It looks ok but I like my Ohana cedar top better for less money. Sounds fine but I agree it could have more depth. Maybe I’m crazy but I haven’t been as excited about koa as everyone else is. So far I love my cedar top. Eventually will buy another ukulele but I am taking my time and working on getting better with the one I have
I'm buying $20 Chinese ukuleles, tuning them up, putting a pickup on them, and selling them. The strange thing is that when I buy them they come with the same accessories as that one (even the keychain is similar).
I have nothing against laminated backs and sides. Some of them sound fantastic. But I would not pay $377 for one, especially from the Far East, even though that is an attractive ukulele with a ab fab case. The narrow nut would put me off as well.
Mr Mai are a ukulele brand I have looked at many times and they've always impressed me!
I can´t afford more ukes. But this channel is free, thank god.
Thank you!
Pretty uke. I especially like the inlaid work around the sound hole. Sounds very nice. Thanks Barry - looking forward to next week. Enjoy your week!
Glad you enjoyed it - thank you!
Wow looks and Sound incredible....
Thanks for the review Baz
My pleasure!

Sounds nice. Love the goodie bag. Great review as always Barry
Glad you enjoyed it
Cheers fella, I love the look of that uke.
Thanks so much Steve!

Yes, sometimes good laminate is like that - this is not plywood with a koa veneer on the back - I suspect it's laminate sheets of koa.

Yep - love the case!
Great new logo! Love the headstock.
Me too!
Cool uke, awesome review as usual, Baz
Thank you kindly!
This is a ukulele make that seem to have quality instruments. Nice woods and finish. Very nice richness to the sound.
Yep - each one of theirs I have seen have been decent
Thank you,great review.❤❤❤
You are so welcome!

Yep - putting it another way - there are far more far eastern ukulele brands than there are ukulele factories!
Very nice, Baz! Sounds fine and looks great. Maybe a bit pricey, but still I think attainable! Thanks!
Agreed!

Thanks for watching!
I really like the off-center fretboard position markers. Not in love with the gloss there.
Floss?

Yeah, i'm coming around to that view - didn't realise how pricey the crossrock cases actually were
"Resistance is futile." I ordered the MM-C.
The price seems fair to me. The build quality, materials and accessories are a cut above similar instruments so it is reasonable that the price is.
There are Uma and Kai ukes with similar specs for much less money. Admittedly not with a case like this, but still with very nice bags.
They certainly goofed by putting gloss on a neck. Would I sand it off of a brand new ukulele?
Where’s my sandpaper?
Other than that I like it.
Thanks Baz.
I know lots of people who do just that - fine sandpaper on the back - job done!

That's a very good point! Ha ha - easily added of course, and there IS a tail block.
This one isn’t my cup of tea. But I like your reviews. Always nice to know what works and what doesn’t ! Thanks
Pretty plain ukulele really? Or was it the sound you didn't like?

The extras probably all come from same Chinese factory in bulk
The cutout shape in the headstock looks like an "M," as do the little inlays. I hope I can resist buying one. 😲

It's not alone at that price point, but agreed - seems a bit too steep
Why do you think the price is high?
No idea why they chose this price. To be fair the case is not cheap though
In this day and age, that's a great price for what you get.
Think you may be right and I was heavy handed on the comments about price. The case alone is worth about £100
Nice tone, sustain . . . For me, not crazy about the fret markers
Fair enough!
Nice but to me sounds a bit muted as if the sound is held back..??? **( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡° )**
That's what I usually find with Titaniums - certain that a different string would give this more sustain too.
SIr I how about you took a look at DONNER SILENT GUITAR HUSH_1 it definitely suit your NOT a UKE series.
Will try to get hold of one
