Everything is just beautiful about this ukulele...other than the price. If you can afford it, and play well enough to justify it, it's certainly worth the buy. For most of us, we don't have big enough bank accounts, or enough skill to make use of such an amazing instrument. Great review, Baz! Aloha!
I do love Kanile’a! So happy to have scored a used K1C for 750€ 18 months ago. If I have to sell all my ukes and only allowed to keep the Kanile’a I would want for nothing.
Yes, they are not making them anymore. I got mine gently used about 6 months ago. There are only 25 ish that were made. Alex can help you find one if one comes back to them.
oH my…just on your tune up it sounded next level. The gloss is something else and the join on the sides at the base is exquisite. It is simply a Kanile’a, which is synonymous to Ukulele quality. One day…One day. Thanks Baz for another great review. Have a great week
Magnificent! That's it, what else can I say? I'll probably never own anything like it but it's nice to dream and drool respectfully. 🤤 Thanks for the review as always Baz, stay healthy! 👍
Kanile'a really make magnificent ukuleles. What a beautiful baritone. I've not seen a Review of the K1 Kanile'a soprano. I'm sure you'd recommend it. Best wishes.
This is a beautiful instrument.. period. I just love the clean traditional look and the sound is unreal. The sustain is so good it is almost to much 😂 too expensive but I get it you get what you pay today I guess but prices in the US are skyrocketing as well! Thanks for a nice review….. DOC
If I really wanted a top ukulele I'd get one of these brands. As you say simple but beautiful. A great well made instrument of high value. Very rich tone and exquisite build. It might be too good for my standard of playing.
Between my Bonanza all solid-mahogany baritone and my shameless (and cheap) Chinese copy of a Tenor Tele, I am spending a lot of time in the world of Chicago tuning these days, mostly to get guitar-like sounds for some music I am writing. Had I limitless funds, this one would be a no-brainer. Oddly enough, though, limitless funds and I seem to be strangers these days.
@@GotAUkulele Fair enough. I suppose if you've got the cash, then why not? I'd still not be paying that much though when I could get something perfectly sufficient for several times less. It is clearly a very nice instrument though.
@@GotAUkulele ...I don't want to have to mute the strings all the time to get the level of sustain I like..I'd rather pick an instrument with the natural level of sustain and tone I personally prefer...
Probably all the baritone ukulele you would ever need!
I just won a custom Kanile'a in a rockclass101 challenge, and I'm waiting for it to arrive, and I am SUPER excited!
That's quite a prize!

I have one of these and it is WONDERFUL. It makes even my very mediocre playing sound good. I just love it.
I find these high end, super resonant ukes almost play themselves!
That’s one stunning Ukulele Probably my favourite post Baz so good I’ve watched it twice and made my dog wait for her walk 😉
Ha ha - thank you!!

Said this is all the baritone anyone ever needs. I think no matter your scale, a Kanile'a is all anyone needs. They are just always so spot on.
an absolute beauty
Thanks so much Steve!
That’s a beauty! What a sound!
Indeed!
Simply superb 💛
Thank you! Cheers!
Gorgeous! One to aspire to should my playing ever get to a level to do it justice!
Absolutely stunning beautiful rich sounds. Thanks Barry very much
You're very welcome
Absolutely stunning.
It really is!
Outstanding!
Glad you like it!
I have a Kanile’a. A Manako concert. Nothing like it. I am so unworthy of it, but someday I may get there. Thanks as always for a great review.
VERY nice models those!
I would love a Manako tenor or baritone but have not been able to find one. I don't think they make them anymore.
@@JulieBrown-e9y I'd email Alex at SUS - he was so instrumental in that model - if anyone will know it will be him.

@@GotAUkuleleindeed. I love it! 😊
Very good review. Does sound amazing and the best sustain I have heard on any ukulele from your reviews!
Couldn't agree more!
Thanks!
Thanks so much Bonnie!

My pleasure!
I have two and I absolutely am smitten by the brand and the sound and the beauty. I am searching for a third for my collection.
Great brand!!

One of the best builders - have played a soprano, but had it with me long enough to review sadly..
Utterly gorgeous.
Just kinda perfect Marj
It's pretty. Both physically and in sound.
Indeed
I've just got a baritone kit from Stewmac to build, bet it doesn't come up as good as this one!
Doubtful!

Thanks for listening!
Fantastic but out of my league. What would you recommend in Baritone for a few £100.
Probably something by Kala, Ohana or Baton Rouge - quite a few about

Glad I bought mine back when I could afford them!
A beautyful ukulele, and a gorgeous sound. Unfortunately baritone is not for me 😥 Thank you so much for a nice review ❤️
Fair enough!
What's not to like?
Having to return it in your case.
There is that!

You and me both Tom!
Wish I could win one. 😢
Sounds lovely but that price is madness.
On the basis that shops sell out of these pretty much immediately - not everyone agrees!

A lotta money... for a lotta uke! Steal it and flee to an undisclosed location.
Southern Ukulele Store? Never heard of them officer... I bought this on holiday in Hawaii...
@@GotAUkulele Then that'll be GBP1999 import duty, son.

Know what you mean!
Far too much sustain for my taste...looks great though
Struggling to see how too much sustain is a bad thing? Sustain allows more expressive play
@@GotAUkulele ...I find too much sustain then bleeds into the next chord/note...just a personal thing...like too much echo....
@@EagleUkes Quite easy to mute sustain down with fingers though. Impossible to do it the other way though!

Should too little sustain be called an objection? 😁
Only the absolute rich can afford anything nowadays.
Though in reality - Southern Ukulele Store can't get these in quickly enough - such is the demand for them
