Really useful no nonsense advice as usual from you Sophie. Wish I'd viewed this video last week as relatively new to leaded glass and had a piece with several complex joints. Wish I'd done the trick of cutting the heart out of some pieces of lead. Will know next time. Also glad I'm not the only one who has to keep pulling bits off and re-trimming.
Love watching this video. Your explanations are so helpful and I am beginning to understand the logic behind the way you use lead came. I’m going to try these out on my next project. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this tutorial on leading! Well done. Starting out on a big restoration panel and got some great tips from you. As always, I like your approach. Thanks again!
Really helpful, thanks, Susie! I'm re-leading a whole Victorian front door window and it has some awkward curves in. It's my first big job as such. Thankfully I got it out without breaking a piece. Richard.
Great video. I did a square 6"x6" panel for my first project and it took me all day. I didnt accurately account for the frame and so the further i got, the less it lined up with the pattern. I finished it but it took the entire day. I need practice on angle cuts and such. Anyways thanks for your expertise. 😁👍🏻
Thank you so much for sharing your stained glass knowledge with us! Your videos are so helpful! In this video, I'm wondering what the tool is called that cuts the larger lead frame? I struggle cutting the thicker lead frame and this looks like it would be so helpful. Thank you!
Lead shears - is that what you mean. Yes they are good and easy on the hand. I get them at Reading Stained Glass - you can find something similar by searching 'gasket cutters'.
@@SophiesStainedGlass I think so. I'm in the USA, but with that search I think I found something similar. It was trying to give me pattern shear results, but I found something. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the very educational video. I now have a much better appreciation of the decisions made when working with lead came as opposed to the copper foil technique. Can you give an estimate of how long it took you to do the leading? You did a great job of editing the video down to about 23 minutes. I did not realize you had a ghost in your workshop! Hence the magic door opening at about 22:45! Probably a ghost left over from Halloween! We had our first freeze last night here in Maryland near DC in the US. Winter is coming!
Hi Sophie, loving your videos & learning so much from them. A quick question❓ Please can you tell me, do you ever use tip tinner or the wire wool type cleaner? Thank you 😊
Most helpful video on this subject that I have ever seen. Thanks So much.
You're very welcome!
Love how you really show how you really care for your projects. Always enjoy
Thank you!

My first project would not have been abandoned if I had known about cutting the heart out. Only learning this today after 2 years.
I just came up on a tricky part of the lead with my second ever lead piece! Thanks for the tips. Cutting out the heart and overlapping is brilliant!
So glad it helped.

Great to hear!
You helped inspire me to be the boss when cutting and configuring lead arrangements for my projects. Thank you!
Good to hear!
Thanks so much, lovely to see Joe you work out all out.
Thanks!
Once again, super useful and instructive, never thought of using the fid to hammer at a piece that is already leaded. Thank you :)
Glad it was helpful!

Glad you liked it!!
Sophie!!! Thank you! That’s exactly I wanted to see.
great!
Great video, once again Sophie. I liked the left side leading. Looks neater and flows better.
I think so too!
Excellent demonstration. Thank you

Keep at it - practice makes perfect (not that I've ever achieved 'perfect'!)

The window probably took 2 hours to lead. Well it was halloween!
@@SophiesStainedGlass Wow! You work so fast! It would probably take me a couple days to do that.
@@candeeham7423 well if it was for a customer id have spent time cleaning up the glass. Also the cementing is extra time. Keep warm x
Fantastic video and I like this oval panel in spite of its faults!
Thanks!

Yes to both
@@SophiesStainedGlass Thank you
Seeing about 10 strips all come together - no idea how you managed to make those fit !
It's always a struggle!
What size came are you using inside?

Tax great tuition once again ❤
Many thanks!
U used the fid to help conform the lead. Thank u
