Joleen will NEVER belong to anyone but Dolly!!!!!!
AMEN
Absolutely!! Behar trash belongs to Whoopi trash!
Hands down
Right you are. (Joys comments don't matter. Period.)
Hands down Dolly ♥️
Joy is nuts... Dolly is queen.
TRUE!!!
AMEN!!
Dolly & Reba are efinauzi's!!! Don't fool yourself. I've heard what they said about men.
Behar is NUTS. Period!
The very idea anyone cares which version Joy prefers is nuts
The very idea that Beyonce thinks she can sing Jolene and change the lyrics is beyond ridiculous! There will always be just one Jolene song, and it is Dolly's!
Beyonce' didn't just think she could change the lyrics, she actually did, with Dolly's approval. So, the idea that you think you're opinion on the matter is at all relevant is what's ridiculous.
I'm considering the possibility that Beyonce grew up in a matriarchal environment. You know, the females battle it out for the top position. Kinda like hyenas.
@@elirodgers3983From the clip I just saw, it does not seem like Dolly approved of Beyonce's rewrite. When a southern woman says "bless your heart / bless her heart" it actually means something along the lines of FU. 😂
@@susancoukoulis4731Yes it does! Truth!
The only other version I like is Miley’s. Miley being Dolly’s niece it’s very fitting. Not a beyonce fan.
Good for Reba for not answering questions that were meant to fuel some controversy or feud between Dolly and Beyonce.
Joy doesn’t matter whatsoever. Who cares what comes out of her mouth. That show should have been cancelled long ago.
It has been canceled, they are in the last season. I’ve never watched it, but boy am I tired of hearing about it. 😂😂
@@pamelot7040 Oh happy day!, if that's true.
You aren't missing anything that show wasn't worth watching it sucked big time
Well spoken
Amen nothing she says matters!!!
Reba and Dolly have more class than joy!!
100%
ABSOLUTELY 💯
Agree
My dog has more class than joy
Communists don't have any class.
Year ago Dolly was asked about Whitney Houston recording her song and she said she laughed all the way to the bank.
Joy doesn’t matter. She never did.
The difference is that Whitney didn’t change the lyrics just a part of the musicality of it so it was more of a pop song than a country song and both versions are great.
I’m in my 60’s. My say on this topic is, all my life I’ve listened to country, until less than a decade ago. When country started not to carry the weight it use to.
Beyoncé enters, Texas Hold’em, catchy tune until she says “Bi*ch”. What? who?
I have never heard that word used in beloved country music. Don’t let her tarnish country music by being so acceptable and opening that door for her. She could not win Album of the Year in her category, so she is going to jump over to country, to win one.
Next thing you know she will be trying to mix her lemonade with country. It just does not mix well with me. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Joy Behar, No one cares.🇺🇸Trump 2024🇺🇸
When Country went POP they lost me.
Right? The video for the first song is a disgrace! Her breasts are almost exposed and she shoots fake gun. THE ENTIRE VIDEO. 😓
Agree. And definitely TRUMP 2024... or God help us.
Neither behar nor beyonce can even come close to DOLLY!!
Mmmm, Beyonce' has more Grammy's than any other artist ever. So, I think that comes close to Dolly. Dolly's also on "Cowboy Carter", so they must be "close" in some way. Plus, Dolly is going to get the lions share of royalties, which are well deserved.
Who actually gives a Damn what Joy has to say.
Well, considering that "The View" is routinely #1 in its time slot, has been on since 1997, has won 31 Emmy Awards and averages 2.375 million viewers and is ranked No. 1 in total viewers amongst all daytime talk programs, it would appear that A LOT of people care what Joy has to say. You asked.
Who is she to judge anything?
Like we say here in Texas, bless her heart.
Joe Rogan said it best “The View is a rabid henhouse”
Dolly is a class act. Nobody will ever come close. Who gives a shit what Joy says.
👍
I concur and I agree, Dolly is a class act through and through !
I agree! Even if Dolly Parton was braless on a photo shoot. 😊
Can we cuss online?
@@riderskater7248 Well Megyn Kelly does curse sometimes on her podcast.
Who gives a crap what Joy Baheart has to say
Who gives a crap about what Joy Behat says? Easy! .......Liberals!
Just wearing a cowboy hat doesn't make you country Joy, its what's in your heart. True country music fans knows that 🤔
Can we keep country music country?!
I wish that was possible but unfortunately that boat sailed years ago. Country music has changed into something I personally don’t recognize anymore. Sad.
Joy can kick rocks. She’s always been a pain in the ears
As well as the ass.
I'd rather joy and Whoopi be pushing up daisies🎉
Joy doesn’t like her own self. Always stirring the pot.
Yep one big circle jerk with one brain in the middle try to catch somebody saying something so they can twist it around and use it against them
Dolly surpasses Beyoncé which is not even a conversation.
What Joy fails to recognize is that Dolly didn't write "Jolene" as a message, which might be applicable to Beyonce's effort. Country music has long been about stories. Yes, there's message and statement songs too, thinking of Hank Jr. and Merle Haggard specifically, but the vast majority are telling a story. Barbara Mandrell sang about cheating and adultery throughout her career. Does that mean she's an advocate? Not if you look at her life. She's been married once, she's still married to that man, and she's fiercely loyal, yet many of her songs were about broken relationships.
Joy is just kicking up clueless dust again... May God have mercy on her soul.
I remember hearing Dolly's story about how she came to write that song. It was a really sweet story about a little girl at one of her concerts who came up for an autograph. She asked the little girl what her name was, and she replied 'Jolene'. Dolly thought that was a beautiful name and decided to write a song using her name. She combined it with a story about a time when she and her husband were at the bank and the beautiful bank teller was a little 'flirty' with her husband, Carl. She said the young woman was stunning with beautiful green eyes and auburn hair. The young woman at the bank was her muse for the song too!
One thing I do know. Joy Behar is not an expert on country music and neither is Beyonce!!!
Is Behar an expert in anything other than being a pain?
Dolly is the best❤
Queen Dolly! Queen Dolly! Joy needs to take a long walk off a short pier as they say.
Why can’t Reba just say that Dolly’s song is better when she sings it? No one wants to offend Beyoncé.
The song Joleen was a song of a broken hearted woman has nothing to do with women’s liberation or any of that. Dolly is to much of a lady to say what’s on here mind with stuff like that. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes of country music and singers but Don’t go messing with dolly’s music she will get more then she can handle Dolly is to important to her Fans and will stick up for her and her music
Yes, It's not about being feminist or anti-feminist. It's a personal story. Not everything has to be a social commentary.
I love Dolly Parton, but Dolly is pretty woke herself. Just look at her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, who always has Dolly's full support, no matter her antics. And if you have ever listened to Dolly in interviews, some of her views would be considered Leftist/Liberal.
@@MegUSN52 what ever her political stance is it has nothing to do with her songs or her music or if Dolly is respected as a lady and a country music Icon does politics have to play a roll in every discussion some time it’s just not about the left or the right it’s about respect and the ideology behind the songs that these great singers write and sing
@@jamiebrooks9636 I think you missed my point. Dolly, herself, has no issue with Beyonce's version of Jolene. So if Dolly doesn't have an issue with it then neither should we. I'm not a Beyonce fan, nor would I go out of my way to even listen to her music. I'm the same with Taylor Swift. I personally think that people idolize them and to me that is a sin. Your comment that "Dolly is to much of a lady to say what’s on here mind with stuff like that" is simply not necessarily truth. It's your opinion. I have followed Dolly Parton since she was singing with Porter Wagner (yes, I'm old). Dolly has given many interviews in her lifetime. She has no problem telling viewers how she really feels about things like her faith, her humble beginnings, her time with Porter Wagner, her marriage, society back then and society today, etc.
@@MegUSN52 that is telling them about what she believes in not someone criticizing her music because it doesn’t fit in with women’s lib and yes she is to much of a lady to get into a arguing match she would just rather do what dilly does turn the other cheek I’ve also followed Dolly even met her in person at Dollywood I agree with you on Taylor swift u watch her go from a good roll model for girls to I wouldn’t let my young girls watch her I feel the same way about Beyoncé . The discussion was how echoing was different and to each their own but when she starts to put Dolly that’s where I take a stand Dollys music is just perfect the way it is it’s a song of a broken hearted woman not some on that wants to kick the man aside that’s just telling marriages are disposable not to fight for what is yours not to try to save your message which is what Dollys song is about
Joy has always been alittle off. And Beyonce singing country is just a joke. And her "version" of Jolene is ridiculous. Just listen to her voice. It sounds so forced and fake. Please stay in your own lane unless you have something truly genuine to contribute. Jmo.
And Beyonce should write her own damn songs and leave other people's work alone. It sounds like ghetto Jolene.
It's soooo bad
@@becky9103That's what I thought!
As a fan of Beyonce I had high hopes for her country album, but now that I've heard it I hope she stays away from country going forward. Her voice isn't made for it imo.
Thank you for letting me find others who feel the same way I do. No one around me understands how I see it.
Don’t let her insert her lemonade in country.
I wish Reba had said yes, when asked if she preferred one over the other, and then slammed the door in their face, leaving them to speculate about which one she preferred.
Dolly has always been a class act. Some other singers try to “update” Dolly’s songs but they just can’t get it right.
Dolly did it best😊
Can’t that idiot from the View just accept Dolly wrote the original, and written in 1973…get over the feminist bull crap. It’s a song Joy.
Dolly all the way!!!
Why in the hell does everyone have to tear apart classic iconic things by examining them under today’s social climate microscope? Why can’t we still just love the things we’ve loved for a long time without someone shitting all over them?
Dollies lyrics are true to life. Leave Dolly alone she’s a national treasure.
Dolly all the way. Beyoncé needs to stay in her lane. Country music is better off without her.
I do not like her first song what she say’s in it doesn’t sound the way it should I don’t think she should sing country music at all ‼️
Agreed!
Beyonce does not have the voice for country. It just sounds "off" if that makes sense. I don't care who wants to sing what genre, but certain voices often times don't cross over.
I damn sure agree
Agreed!
❤❤ Love Dolly Parton and her version of Jolene Dolly is a legend nobody can compare to Dolly
The original version of the song speaks to the vulnerability of women as we age, and it appeals to the younger woman to respect the marriage and the love of a wife for her husband. In other words, it asks for one woman to support the other by not trying to entice a man away. Supporting each other this way is the purist form of feminism, so Joy Behar is wrong yet again. Whether Reba or Dolly truly like the "new" version is moot point. They don't dare criticize as they would be called racist. I'll just put it this way. One of our greatest country artists was Charley Pride. He had the heart, he had the soul, he had the sound. Beyonce has none of these.
This is well said. Women supporting each other instead of Competing or taking from each other. This is part of what real feminism is about.
The Reba McEntire clip about this was outstanding! She handled it like the down to earth person she is with a smile. It was funny too. 😂
Dolly wrote it for a reason with those lyrics. I like Dolly's better.
Just guessing but knowing Dolly's policies concerning her songs, I'd put money on Dolly having wrote both versions. For sure it wasn't published without her approval.
@@whyrocha I don't think Dolly wrote the new version but she definitely gave her blessings.
She supposedly got the name that sparked the song because of a cute little girl with really red hair that came to one of her concerts, who happened to be named Jolene. She liked how it fell on the beat, and not very much later, there it was. I'm not sure if the person that made that comment was full of crap or not. Have not heard Beyonce's yet. She tends to be pretty good, but I'm kinda tired of covers because that seems to be all our main stream artists care about doing.
@@SymphonicEllen I've not heard that version, I'd lean more towards the story Dolly tells. Her version of it is in a few of her interviews, and pretty easy to find if it interests you.
Dolly wrote that song in a different time. Women were mostly homemakers and women in business had better clothing, hair nails fancy shoes etc. It was intimidating for them. Beyonce's version was not available to women then. Smart of Reba to control the situation!!
100 💯 true. Both versions are great. But women today wouldn't just sit back and not fight to protect their family. Beyonce, Dolly and Reba are all tough women.

I know Dolly Parton would never speak badly about anyone the way some in these comments are. Lets honor Dolly by following her example. Also, as the terrific and intelligent talent that Dolly is, I think She appreciates the position Beyonce is taking with her lyrics. Two completely different songs really.
Dolly is the best A very secure woman
Dolly built her empire through sweat and talent. That is what a strong smart woman is unlike the haters like Unjoyous Hens on the View.

I heard the best description of the View today " A rabies infested Hen House"
Dolly is the best. Always. No question.

For God's sakes, Dolly Parton has more class and musical talent than any silly TV personality or Beyonce. Quit trying to one-up Dolly, I dislike anyone even thinking about trying.
I agree 💯%❗️ Beyonce completly changed the lyrics to the OG song in such a way that it changed the meaning. I wouldn't say I like her version. I didn’t know that would be allowed.

Give a listen to Glory Days version of Jolene. That is a loving contribution to Country.
I think I heard most of the south say there is no room available here for Miss Behar 😂
Whenever Rolling Stone issues a list of the greatest songs of all time, Jolene, written and sung by Dolly Parton, is always fairly high on that list. It is a great song, haunting in its plea. Lil Nas X has recorded a wonderful version of Jolene. So did the late Olivia Newton-John. It seems that John Lennon thought highly of Dolly's song. Yoko Ono and John Lennon lived in the same apartment building where Dolly had her NYC apartment. Several years after John's death, Dolly recorded John Lennon's song Imagine. When Dolly asked Yoko if she could borrow some photos to use in the video for her recording of Imagine, Yoko said she would be glad to and she believed John would have agreed because Dolly's song Jolene was one of John's favorite songs. So who cares what Joy Behar thinks.
About 2.9 viewers daily appear to care what Joy thinks. But the back story about the song you shared was sincerely fascinating. Thank you for that cool back story about this amazing song. 🙂
@@elirodgers3983 You are more than welcome. I suppose Joy Behar and others on that show have to do controversial things to help boost ratings.
@@elirodgers3983 I was glad to share the story. In America, Dolly is often perceived by a majority of non-fans to be just another woman of little talent who achieved stardom based on her good looks. "Famous for being famous" is the way one person put it. She is a global superstar based on far more talent than meets the eye. Or as an early music writer recounted his first encounter: Porter Wagoner introduced the new "girl singer" and upon seeing her youth, beauty and hourglass figure, he thought "I SEE why he hired her." Then she began to sing and he revised his first impression, based on her amazing voice. Finally, when he learned she had written the song that she sang, the music journalist could predict a bright future for Dolly Parton in Country music.
A classic example why we should not judge a book by the cover. Based on her giggle, her beauty, and her amazing figure, Dolly has been the victim of snap judgments by non-fans of Country music. And until 1977 when Dolly made a move to crossover onto the pop charts, a majority of Americans were never exposed to her at all. As a longtime fan, I can tell you that her songwriting in the 1970's was prolific and brilliant. She says she wrote Jolene and I Will Always Love You the same day. Dolly had #1 hits with both songs in 1973/1974. She had another #1 hit with a new recording of I Will Always Love You after it was used in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas in 1983. But those hits were on the Country music charts so ten years later, when Whitney Houston had a massive hit with I Will Always Love You when it was used in another movie The Bodyguard, everyone seemed to think it was a new song and that maybe Whitney wrote it.
Dolly Parton should never be underestimated. Legends of today who know all about Dolly Parton stand in awe of her talent and her example. (Pink, Brandi Carlyle, Miley Cyrus, Keith Urban, Katy Perry, and too many to mention.)
@sandramoore OH my GOODNESS, That's absurd. Dolly Parton and Stevie Wonder are two of THE most prolific songwriters of the past 5 decades. I remember the first Dolly song I fell in love with: "Islands in the Stream." I watched her perform that with Kenny Rogers on American Bandstand in the early 80's, I was 4 years old and mesmerized. I later saw Kenny singing with Sheena Easton and asked my mom if he was cheating on Dolly?? I've loved her ever since. ❤️
@@elirodgers3983 I'm glad you made it to her music at such a young age. I became a fan in 1970 when she recorded Muleskinner Blues. If you haven't heard that one, I recommend that you give it a try. Her yodeling and her breath control that let her hold the high notes so long is truly impressive.
Good for Reba. Joy never had a problem with someone taking her man. 😂😂😂😂😂
I don't blame Reba for being mad about the gotcha question! But this incident is why I am not thrilled about outside-the-country-music-genre taking over country music! Did Beyonce rewrite the other songs too?!

YES, Behar is herpes personified. Perfect comparison! 😂
Hmmm, they don't usually cancel shows that are consistently #1 in the ratings and winning Daytime Emmy awards.
I grew up on country music and still listen to it to this day. I will ALWAYS ALWAYS prefer Dolly's version. I just don't know how far our opinions go when the original artists themselves come out in support of the remakes🤷🏼♀️
Beyoncé will never compare to Dolly
Dolly all the way.
The new version of Jolene is now #7 on billboard hot 100. The original got to #60. Dolly is a smart cookie. She loves all the controversy because it improves sales. BTW Beyonce didn't claim any writing credits despite totally rewriting Jolene. And Beyonce loves Dolly and Dolly loves Beyonce. Ok kids keep fighting because it's great for both their bank accounts!
How do get to change the lyrics?
Joy bear has nothing worthwhile to ever listen to she is a waste of time
Behar is a very unhappy woman.
that's putting it lightly lol
very unhappy and VERY rich. She makes millions for the poison she spews.
Never been laid & liked it. That makes her so bitchy.
People preferred Whitney Houston's cover of "I Will Always Love You". What's wrong with that? People are entitled to like a cover better. It doesn't diminish the originator at all. I bet Dolly Parton ain't mad...she wrote the song. She's getting paid swell for the cover. Just like with Whitney's cover. People start mess over anything just to have excitement. It's sad. This ain't even messy. People just want it to be.
I know when covering another artists song, you’re not meant to make it ‘exactly’ the same as the original, it’s allowed to add one’s own little twist, keeping it respectable to the original artist, but I didn’t realise it is permitted to change the lyrics! I personally think that’s a bit cheeky, especially when one is a huge star anyway.
Trying to compare the two versions is like trying to compare a cherry 57' Chevy Belair with a 2024 Chevy Camaro.
So Joy thinks asking another woman to leave your man alone isn't feminist enough but she's all for backing men playing in girls sport, i.e. taking girls/womens opportunities and medals away from them. Yep that's true feminism right there. Ugh Joy isn't one to speak on what a true feminist is.
Why are we even concerned with what Behar or any of those on that tv show say?
Didn't Bryoncé basically try to take Dolly's song in a way? And say, "Look, I can do it better?" But she actually showed she couldn't. It's a different song. Different caliber of artist.
don't care what the spew says ,they should be taken off the air for hate speech and child abuse!
AMEN!!
I didn't know beyonce was doing this. If she had real talent, she'd write her own original song, and record it without auto-tune...
And before anyone claims everyone who doesn't like beyonce dissing Dolly is racist, I LOVE the "response" song by Chapel Hill.
I very much like Chapel Hill as well. I was thrilled to see them succeed.
She sings whatever they tell her to--
Whatever is on the teleprompter so to speak.
Both versions are awesome. And who listens to Behar?
So I'm just going to put this out there.. It's ok for different people to like or not like a song.. It's ok for someone to like one better. What sucks is to trash talk either..

Beyonce who?
Just love Dolly Parton dolly song lyrics best 😊
What would her reply/comments be if she sang Dolly's song wird fir word? Bet not a word would be said against this very talented lady. Dolly is probably laughing all the way to the bank. Dolly knows what sells at any given time and to each generation. Remember when this song was written and recorded, marriages were very different and know y'all don't like this comment, BUT IT WAS HOW IT WAS BACK THEN!!! People had a sense of right and wrong and doing what was right. My husband and I were married for 54 years, and I am 78 yo, so kinda know something about long-term love. Like your husband before you love him!!!❤❤
Joy talking trash about Dolly Parton just proves everything that comes out of her mouth is pointless. Dolly is the kindest, sweetest person. Unlike hateful Joy
Who cares what a city slicker from NYC thinks about any country songs? Dolly rules!
Technically, Beyoncé is from Houston Texas…but, being born in the south, doesn’t mean you’re a country artist, IMO. She’s a talented woman, but I think sometimes it’s better to stick to what you know. I feel like she’s pushing into country, because she doesn’t always get the recognition, awards wise, in the genre she’s been in. TBH, I don’t really follow her career or anything…it’s just something I’ve heard other artists complain about, over the years, regarding her not getting the awards, they feel she deserves. This is the album nobody asked for and She has ruined Jolene, imo. (Also, does anyone else think her album cover is tacky as shit?? I mean, what the hell is she even wearing???)
And the “woo” song grinds my nerves, like a millennial trying to drive a stick shift!
Joy Behar is a moron…I don’t think anyone really cares what she thinks, but, Again, this is just my opinion 😊
I'll CHOOSE DOLLY every day! How DARE Beyoncé make HER OWN song on The Queen of Country Music's trademark? How dare she? Yes, Dolly gave her a go on the project. But, comon... She's WAY TOO KIND! Dolly is our National Treasure or not World Tresure because she does SO MUCH accept from singing. She acts, she writes plays, movies and books for children that are sen for free to many countries. If there's a catastrophe, who's usually the first to reach and act? Well, Dolly! We have an ANTI-VIRUS against Covid THANKS TO DOLLY!
@dollyparton I will always love you!
Dolly’s laughing all the way to the bank, making a cash cow through royalties. She wrote and owns all her songs. Beyoncé jumping on to the country music bandwagon because it’s so lucrative.
Joleen is Dolly’s song and always will be. No one can take that away.
Dolly wrote this song about a woman in her town that the women were jealous of because their husband's and boyfriend's would watch her when she walked on the streets and shops, she was young and wasn't married yet but she remembered that woman years later and wrote the song
Dolly is the greatest❤
People still watch the VIEW?
They are not really the same song. I love Reba's response.
😂😂😂😂DOLLY ASKED HER TO DO A VERSION OFF THE SONG YEARRRRS AGO & APPROVED IT😂😂😂
Dolly all there way
Dolly's version came out in 1973, that was 50 years ago. Half a century changes things. Pretty sure Beyonce paid for the right to do her own version of the song since Dolly isn't suing her. As for which I like better, our culture was different 50 years ago. it's like comparing Dolly's version of I Will Always Love You to WHitney Houston's or Disturb's version of SOunds of SIlence to Simon and Garfunkel's. You can't. They are completely different songs-
Whitney Huston never changed the words to Dolly's song. Same words. Beyonce changed the words. Not for the better. Whitney was spectacular.

You all should check out Chapel Hart’s version of Jolene. They came up with a whole different twist.
As I have said many times. Why does anyone think Joy Bahar or any of the hacks from the View's opinions have any significance what so ever. I just don't get it!

@@vickiekasafirek9096 maybe I should have worded it better. A lot of times stars will not say anything about another singer because they don't want to lose fans. Dolly does the same thing. I guess it's just better to refrain from saying anything against another singer.
I think you worded it the way you wanted at the time you wrote that comment. Reba isn't/doesn't have to save her career. Dolly AND Reba are both Queens of country music as well as respectful women full of class. As far as Joy and Beyonce, well I'll follow Reba's act on this one as she was getting into her car.
Reba is right, don't get involved in these politics.
About 50 years ago “Stand By Your Man” plays on the radio followed by “Jolene” and people sang along with it. Because it is good music. This would be about the last time Joy Behar was relevant
The lyrics of a song represent the current atmosphere of the world around us. Dolly’s = absolutely perfect for that eta. As well as Beyoncé’s updated for this generation
Dolly is trying to recreate that Whitney I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU money. Ha ha.
Miss Joy needs to stay in her lane before people start comparing between when she was humble and gracious and the entitled millionaire today.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions including Joy Behar. But Reba and Dolly both have demonstrated their character and their class in how they have responded to both Joy and Beyonce. Joy's career has revolved around being brash and offensive and stirring things up. Let's face it, she's pretty good at it. I'm not a fan of Beyonce myself but I do appreciate Dolly and Reba too. I think ultimately Bey's foray into country will prove to be mediocre and that would be the appropriate outcome.
Dolly all the way.. I heard Beyoncé on the radio sing the song I could not even understand have of what she was singing..
Trying to divide within the country setting 😂 they don't play the same😉🤗
