The sound is about a woman who tried to get with her husband while Dolly was on tour, however the name of the song comes from a little girl who she met while on tour. She didn’t use the name of the woman as the title of the song for obvious reasons

It's confusing she tells Jolene [little girl] that "you know I'd write it about [her]" but its not. [at least thats what it sounds like shes saying?] It's about some bank teller who tried to "take care" of her husband. But the clip never goes into detail about how she gets from point A [little girl with a beautiful name] to point B [homewrecking bank teller] its a strange story, at least how it's clipped here
Well, it doesn't explain it right in the video.
If I wouldn't have known the whole story, I would've bee confused, too.
In the video she says that she told that little girl:"If you'll ever hear a song named Jolene by me, then you know I wrote that song about you." That's a bit confusing. "About you" not "about your name" "inspired by your name".
If I would never have heard the whole backstory and I'd just knew that Dolly told a girl named Jolene:"I'll write a song about you", I wouldn't think the name is the only thing Dolly wrote about the young girl in the song.
