    Today’s video consists of me finally breaking down & using an air fryer! Stick around as I try it out on easy frozen items (French fries & chicken nuggets) then make my own rendition of air fried chicken wings. Will it be a success? Is the Power XL air fryer garbage? Are foods cooked in an air fryer just like deep fried? Is the food any good?
    Stick around & find out my honest thoughts about the results!

      Big Shticks dont wash the chicken Cause cdc told you not to... U gotta be a certified genius. I've worked in multiple chicken plants. They ship that chicken after its been on the floor and they barely wash before they throw it with the rest.. I was actually the guy that did the picking up off the floor and washing. They specifically direct you to wash it off quick as possible... so Yea go ahead and enjoy the dirt /animal feces/ oil from mechanical machines/ or sanitizer from the cleanup crew/ might add a little flavor to your wings since your seasoning is lacking so much...

      1. That sounds like a shitty place work.
      2. Sounds like you should have reported that to the FDA or the county inspectors if you had a conscience & actually cared about what was being put out as food to people.
      3. That same mentality happens in restaurants too! I witnessed it first hand & reported it. Told the manager, they blew me off. I quit & reported them to the county health inspector. They promptly shut them down.
      Just because bad behavior exists doesn’t mean it’s the rule. But it’s people like you who allow it to persist by failing to do the responsible thing & then ridicule people whom should have faith that shit like that isn’t entering our food chain. You do understand that is how all these novel flu viruses start that kill people right! Sleep well

So far bagel, fresh toast sticks and fish sticks.The square basket is a game changer ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB You get so much more room than the round basket.I’ve had it for about 24 hours.Only drawback I’m having an issue with is the pulling out the basket but I know eventually I will master that as well.

    I loved your video I just got blessed with this air fryer and it is WONDERFUL. When you air fry the chicken it will come out crispy even if you don’t put flour on them and that’s really really healthy. If I may add be sure to wash your chicken after you take it out the package because sometimes good falls to the floor and it is a good idea to soak your meat chicken, pork chops, beef etc in water and Vinegar to pull out preservatives and dies you can also wash your meat with lemon juice as well😊 I just wanted to share that with everyone❤

    I got a Power XL for Christmas this year and man, I love it!!!! Like you, my doc wants me to cut out fried and, well, this is it, I did by an accessory kit so that I can stack more wings and nuggets or cook different stuff and the same time. The downside is the size and what you can fit into the 8 qt bucket. Other than, I love mine...…….I did frozen New York strip steak, about 3/4 in thick right from the freezer to the air fryer and it came out great. I did two which fit in bucket great. At the half way point is when I added the seasonings since it was frozen at the beginning.

      Yup, I sometimes toss them in a bit of spray oil now to get that crispy exterior on the fries. However, I try to use a spray oil that doesn’t contain propellants like butane. Something about spraying lighter fluid on my food doesn’t sit well. The sad thing is, most big name spray oils do use it. The ones that don’t are a bit pricey.

      I frequently go flour/cornstarch/batter free, pat dried & simply seasoned. That way no matter what I might be feeling in the moment I can go buffalo, lemon pepper, teriyaki or bbq. As for washing chicken...CDC says to avoid it. As a nurse, i can only imagine if health care organizations said screw what the CDC says “ we gonna do our own thing “ how well that would go for patients.

      Big Shticks the cdc? You trust that. The meat is processed and comes from god knows where and because the cdc says it’s causing salmonella or whatnot washing it imagine consuming it. The heat from cooking killed all the bacteria? You put the meat in lemon salt vinegar in a basin not straight in the sink not just splashing water. Not being careful causes cross contamination not washing it.

      I do indeed love the fact that there are many different oils available now & in spray bottles no less. My issue with many of them is that they utilize butane as a propellant. Which is flammable and tends to make a sticky & rough surface on Teflon which most air fryers have. There are some sprays that don’t have propellant but their cost far exceeds their value. But, in liking your suggestion I may end up purchasing an oil mister or two.

      They use a system that has a pouch inside the can and the can is pressured so when you push the "trigger" the pressure inside the can squeezes the pouch spraying the oil out. The propellant never interacts with the oil and actually never leaves the can.

    I would suggest getting an EVOO mister bottle from Amazon to spritz the bottom of your fryer before adding in your fries then give the fries a little shake half way thru the cook time.
    Give another shake at the end then salt your fries.
    The salt will stick & your fries will be just as crispy when finished!! ❤🍟❤🍟❤

    Hi there I have another r cope I just tried apologies for piggybacking off your flick.... anyways here it goes
    Today I cooked babyback ribs first they ROCKED !!
    First preheat air fryer to 360degrees before setting remover interior tray and fill with water just below the insert this will create steam and catch excess fat as it drops from ribs and will eliminate droppings from burning on bottom
    I took 14 pcs of baby back ribs and marinated them in sweet baby rays bourbon marinade .i put the ribs in a plastic container and marinated for 4 hours
    Back to preparing I cooked the ribs in two batches
    So set preheat to 360 for five minutes
    Remember to put water in bottom tray replace the rack and lay your ribs 7 pcs at a time remember to leave space between each piece, close a set 30 minutes only open at half way mark 15 minutes and turn basting with left over sauce after first group is done repeat with rest of ribs serve with your favorite veggies on side I made garlic cauliflower mashed potatoes with a bit of parmesean cheese added and medley of corn green been sand mushrooms with fresh garlic basil purée 1 teaspoon IMG_0580.jpeg

      It’s a preference thing. But I guess you shouldn’t eat at any restaurant either because they aren’t allowed to, to prevent cross contamination. Besides, water doesn’t remove anything. It might make you feel better but the bacteria is still there. So unless your washing your meat with bleach or chlorhexidine Gluconate your only fooling yourself. Aside from that, only temperature & time ensure thorough bacteria kill.

      What exactly are you "cleaning" off of the chicken?

    • @gmoneyboys1
      @gmoneyboys1 4 года назад +1

      The national health service say washing raw chicken increase your risk of food poisoning. It is better to just cook the chicken straight out the pack and let the heat from cooking kill the germs.

    • @MzsLadyT
      @MzsLadyT 4 года назад

      @hillsunshine43 hmm....so how do you clean your ground meats? They "could have" hit the dirty floor and most definitely were processed on "dirty machines" and by "dirty dripping hands" when being processed.
      Unless your chicken just came in from playing outside on the playground, I'm not sure if what you think your are washing away. And, how can you tell if you cleaned it all away? Cuz you can't. But you are more likely to contaminate the fruits and veggies that have actual dirt on them cuz your kitchen is a salmonella petri dish.

    light spray the raw food with spray on cooking oil so your flavor ingredients have something to stick to like your potatoes. chicken parts with the skin still on will begin to sizzle just because it's getting cooked. If you remove your fried chicken skin to eat the meat only...try making cracklins by air frying the skins only to shrink it down (reduce) ....like chicharones….if you like snap crackle and pop...there you go! Delicious. Still reduce your fried oil intake while staying close to actual deep fried quality taste.

    I've got an air fryer but there's nothing wrong with deep fat frying although frys/chips aren't healthy no matter how you cook em. Try deep frying your chicken wings. I cook mine in lard and do a version of a Korean recipe. I use some low carb flour and arrowroot plus one egg and mix. They come out deliciously crisp from a deep lard fry.

    • @BigShticks
      @BigShticks  4 года назад

      Deep fat frying occasionally isn’t bad for you. Deep fat frying everything almost everyday as I was, is an entirely different story. As for deep frying my wings, I don’t need to try. I have & I still do. Just a bit less, now that I enjoy the air fried substitute. I must say though, anything fried or cooked with lard is miles away better than their synthetic alternative. Plus, our bodies can actually process animal fats more efficiently. As for the low carb flour & arrowroot, I’ve never tried either. But I do appreciate the suggestion. I’m more or less working on new recipes using potato starch, corn starch & rice starch. Thank you for watching & commenting!

      It does with just a bit of oil to get the crisping started. Wings fare way better than most parts of the bird because it’s encased in skin which provides the perfect cover & fat to accomplish the crisping while leaving the center still moist.

      While id agree with your sentiment. Everyone’s experience with any particular air fryer will be different. Numerous factors will come into play. Ones experience in the kitchen, frequency of use, duration of use & how often it’s cleaned/maintained are a few that come to mind. I’m not an endorser of any one particular brand. But in doing my due diligence of the hundred or so air fryers out there, many of them had what I would chalk up to being user error. Like using items such as non abrasive sponges as opposed to heavy duty scouring pads to clean the non stick coating which prevents it from coming off or cleaning the unit internally after every use to prevent excess smoking & premature heating element burnout. I also believe as a consumer not all products are created equal & that the most expensive product doesn’t always equate to better, simply relying on Amazon reviews doesn’t necessarily give the whole story to any product. In fact, I believe Amazon reviews to be tainted & riddled with reviews that are bought and paid for both positive & negative in addition to having reviews that don’t even have anything to do with actual products performance itself (like being upset it was delivered broken or late) which effects the products overall rating despite not actually being about the item. This IMO makes them a less than reliable source of info

    • @BigShticks
      @BigShticks  4 года назад +12

      Dave Johnson
      Actually rinsing the chicken increases the likelihood of spreading salmonella by splattering it all over your sink, the faucet, countertop, your arms & clothes. Now, anything that subsequently comes in contact with those surfaces is contaminated. I work as a nurse we know a little bit about pathogens & how it spreads. Our protocols come from the CDC. The CDC says not to wash raw poultry.
      www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/chicken.html
      Imagine if we didn’t listen to the CDC how unsuccessful we would be at mitigating harmful bacteria & pathogens. All these novel flu viruses come from the birds which cause worldwide pandemics...SARS, H1N1, MERS & Coronavirus of which we look to whom for information about how to prevent it & stay safe? Perhaps the CDC!
