You can put all the dry ingredients in a gallon sized ziplock bag, close it up shake to combine and put 2-3 pieces inside and shake to coat, very easy and does a good job of containing the mess.

I mix salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder together and season chicken like that as well as adding the seasoning to the flour, but i like a bit of spice so i add half a cup of hot sauce to the "batter" and cayenne to the seasoning, air fryers are amazing !

The advice against using oil spray is because the store bought ones contain lecithin, alcohol and other additives which over time can degrade a non-stick surface. Nothing wrong with using plain olive oil in a spray though, just best to avoid those "1 cal" sprays.

I recently made chicken in my air fryer and it was amazing. And now I see this video, which is a sign from God to make it again! 😁 I use Avocado oil spray instead of olive oil spray. One suggestion I'd make is to add a bit of Worcestershire sauce to your buttermilk and let the chicken sit in it for at least two hours before beginning the cooking process. You'll thank yourself later for the massive bump in flavor. Great video!!! 🤗

Yes! Usually chickens that are pasture-raised (fed more of a grass diet) have higher beta-carotene, more omega 3s, more vitamin D, and more vitamin E in their diet and that translates to a more orange yolk! So we are consuming healthier eggs from healthier chickens :D

Two tips: 1. Add some baking poweder to the flour. It changes the PH of the skin and makes it crispier. 2. Let the coated chicken rest a while so the baking powder has time to work, and so that the coating sticks to the chicken more.

Hydroflorocarbons will, over time, deteriorate non stick surfaces. I don't know what kind of sprayer you're using but I just have a spritz bottle I filled with olive oil. It works just fine.

I've used a zip top bag as a mixing bowl. I used clothes pins to clip the zip top bag to my dish drainer to hold it in place, then used a wire whisk to mix cake batter in the bag. A stainless steel liner (not non-stick coated) from a pressure cooker makes a very nice mixing bowl too. So does the plastic 1-gallon tub ice cream comes in. I used to go camping, spur of the moment. I learned how to make do.

That was a good, juicy and flavorful chicken, thank you!
For two pounds (4 legs and 2 chicken thighs with skin and bone) of chicken, I used 4/5ft of a cup of flour and 3/4 cup of buttermilk and had a bit leftover. I also added onion powder, mustard powder and Montreal chicken spice seasoning to taste. Finally, I added a tea spoon of liquid smoke to the buttermilk. I prepped my air fryer for 4 minutes before cooking the chicken. Sprayed the bottom of my (NinjaFoodi 12/1 air fryer / combo) air fryer and the chicken (inside the basket) with vegetable oil and cooked 11 minutes at 360°. Flipped only the legs, sprayed again, cooked another 11 minutes. I let it rest for 4 minutes in my plate before eating, and it was awesome. The skin was crispy and the chicken flavorful & moist. I only realized when writing this comment that I forgot the egg. Turns out, I didn't need it. :)

Just finished eating those delicious chicken drumsticks. Amazing recipe, and good temperature/time settings on the air fryer.

Yes your eggs yolk looks amazing fresh from the farm. That’s how it should look like.
I am from the old country Jerusalem and when we were kids we got our eggs from the farm field rite from under the chicken. They look just like that.
    I’m sure u buy organic.

    Love watching you ❤

May be a silly comment but I’m just learning how to cook. I follow many different recipes for various things with different seasoning but it never ends up tasting good. I think the quality of meat might play a part. What brand of chicken do you use?

We have orange eggs in Australia. Yellow mostly I’ve seen in US or other countries. I googled it some years ago and it said it’s just whatever the farmers feed the chickens. Their particular diet can change the colour. Taste is the same. So farmers will deliberately choose the diet they want to maintain that colour. So I guess Australia likes orange. I do too. Although it’s cool to see different colours like bright yellow.

this recipe seems really good, i just have 2 questions
    1) how spicy is this chicken?
    2) what would be a good substitute for buttermilk? i don't have any and theres no shops near me that sell it

      Mixed butter and milk

You can Google for alternative. One simple one is 1 cup milk and 1 tablespoon vinegar or one cup plain yogurt.

      Chicken is not spicy.

great idea! I just want to make comments on two different observations. The first thing you should know, is if you went to culinary school, like I did, you are aware, that the way to bread and coat chicken for frying, is a 3-step breading process. Or, a 4-step battering process. First, I would dredge the chicken in seasoned flour, that which contains my paprika, salt and garlic powder. The second step, is egg wash with your eggs and buttermilk. Then finally, dredge in bread crumbs, particularly Panko bread crumbs. Some shake and bake mixes will work as a substitution for bread crumbs. However, that there som shake and bake mixes, that which are a seasoning only, in that which case you must use bread crumbs. If the shake n bake mix you hhave is a seasoning, make sure you add that to your flour. Sometimes, I use large zippy bags for tossing the chicken into bread crumbs. But 20 minutes at 365 degrees or above for 20 minutes should be ideal. Also, I would not use olive oil, I like avacado oil, as just like extra virgine olive oil, it is cold pressed. In fact, that you can find Canola oil, that which is cold-pressed. Finally, I would not use an aerosol spray in your air frying basket. Try to find an olive oil spray in a non-aerosol can, as that the aerosol and other toxic ingredients will cause the nonstick coating on your basket and drawer to break down and flake off. If I miss-spelled anything, I appologize. I'm trying to type fast here. I liked and subscribed, because my intent and attempt is to have comfort food, but keep it as clean as possible.

You could have made your own in less time than it took you to type all of this nonsense out.
