Man i remember playing this show. I was just a kid back then LOL Thats me on the left side of Jr. Walker playing guitar. My music mentor. Peace Darryl B.
Junior's music was so unique, so distinctive, so original, so genuine. Audiences didn't know how to react to him especially in Europe...they loved him, but they didn't know how to cut loose. Junior gave more than 100% on stage. I am not sure that there were many people that realized they were in the presence of greatness...there was nobody like him before, and.the likeness of anyone who could come along close to recreating the energy of this great entertainer. He made his mark ....he gave so much to the musical world.Videos of him are priceless. Thanks for sharing this.
He played live at the Northern Soul, venues in the UK in the 70's with two to three thousand young souls dancing to his brilliant music, we showed him what it meant to us.
Junior is the reason I took up playing the Sax. Had the honor of meeting him once. He told me that he takes his wife with him everywhere he goes. How many entertainers can truthfully say that ?
you gave us the music and for that will always be eternally grateful your music will always go on and on and on thank you Junior rest in peace and be with our God
I was the bassist with Jr. but in this video I'm playing guitar. I met Jr when i was 17 and did not have a bass so he takes down to the music store in downtown South Bend, IN . We walk in and he tells Mack the owner. Hey, got one new guy with me and he needs a bass. He says walk around and pick out one. I'm like are you serious, any one i want ? Jr says yea ! So I grabbed that Jazz and walked out the door without paying one cent. My dream had come true LOL Allstar 1979-1995 Darryl B
No one...NO ONE....can play a saxaphone like the Master! 'Gotta' Hold Onto This Feeling" was the song that turned me onto the sound that this great man could produce through his incredible melodies! "Shotgun" kept it going! "What Does It Take To Win Your Love?" found its way into my record collection as well...but my favorite from Junior has to be the great classic, "Walk In the Night." Lovethe sound of that' sexy' sax and always and always will!
I always loved Junior Walker version of this song especially with him singing and playing the saxophone at the same time what a beautiful rendition of this live rest in power Junior Walker ❤🙏🏾🌹💕✨
I Loved Junior Walker & The all Stars from the minute I heard songs like Shotgun, Roadrunner, What Does it Take, Hip City on the radio. WCBS in New York use to play the 1950's -1970's every day. What a great station and a great time to be discovering music.
Great. Saw them in Manchester - mid-late 70's ? He was fantastic, played sax on his knees, dancing round, lying flat out..and band was tight. Such a great night..soulful
Jr. Walker blew the sax with exceptional skills. I love this video. I enjoy watching this video over and over. He could sing and then switch to his sax starting out playing such high notes, wow! He truly loved music and his sax.
Have been touring with Junior throughout Europe many times. Still wonder why he is not on compilation albums of Motown/Universal as much as other artists, who wre much less impofrtant for the music industry than he was. It's a shame! As and artist as well as a human being it was great to be near him. Miss him a lot!
some lovely comments from family and friends, thanks for sharing. saw him live in the 70's in Liverpool, great gig. I was supposed to play this at my Daughters wedding, got drunk and bottled it!
Saw Jr. and company at City Gardens, Trenton NJ circa 1982. They were, to coin a phrase, sweeet. I was dancing down front with my then husband, who didn't dance as rule, and got to give Junior high fives while we were gettin' down in a room full of black and white folks of all ages, groovin together. I will never forget it!
Though i really love his performance on his first live album, this is neck-and-neck with that performance. It has its own feel and is extremely enjoyable, even with the passage of time!
Man i remember playing this show. I was just a kid back then LOL Thats me on the left side of Jr. Walker playing guitar. My music mentor. Peace Darryl B.
