    This song came out when I was 9yrs old, and my family being 100% west Texas country music raised could not understand why I loved the song so much! LOL

      I get it. The song may be the R&B style but the content is 100% country rural America. Same backwoods, different skin color.

      And there was also a dance call (Shot Gun)You would rock front to back and bring your right arm over your shoulder and hold your left arm up like you were holding a rifle like you are going to aim.Them use your right hand like you were going to pull the trigger.This is how we did it in Philly, New York, B,more an in Washington D.C.at the dances.😊😊😊One of the Greatest Party song to dance to..

      James Jamerson actually played bass on the original recording in 1964. But In other appearances Vic Thomas (the organist) was playing bass with the Hammond B-3 peddles.

    Junior Walker was a great musician. Around 1980, Foreigner hired him to perform the saxophone solo for their upcoming single, “Urgent”. They got along so well, Walker joined the band for their tour that year.
