I actually know Drew Fennell. He directed my band and I got to play with him. Such a phenomenal trumpet and flugelhorn player.

Matt, Thank you for lifting my spirits with your exceptional playing, as I sat here unable to play my recently purchased Martin Imperial do to swelling of the lips, inner mouth, and face. I am Viet-Nam war Veteran and I play the horn as a means of dealing with anxiety and PTSD. Your playing encourages me to hang in there until this horrible condition passes. Thank you.

Sabaton is such a great band that Bach wrote an entire fan-made version of their Red Baron intro. Huge respect for him

Matt, you were excellent! One day I may play like you even though I am 74 years of age. Or at least play to the point where I just love playing and maybe sitting in on a band or two here and there.

OK that sounds nice. You are constantly saying we should work on tone quality, that people who have studied trumped for years and have college degrees in music cannot pass an audition to a professional performance job because of poor tone quality, and they get better with your methods. But, I have no idea what you are talking about! What I need is a before-and-after demonstration, showing what an ordinary tone sounds like compared to a superior tone. [Sorry, I am not a real trumpet player although I own one, I am an electronics engineer and machinist. I cannot play high notes - never could - and do much better with my euphonium, or tenor sax, or pipe organ. I think the problem is tooth shape, Matt is able to stretch his lip over his teeth while I cannot. Someday I may try to build an inner mouthpiece, like the mouth guards used by some athletes, and see if a different shape allows better trumpet playing.]

    • @MattBrockman

Thanks! Was going for a church-y vibe with this one. Used a little more reverb than usual haha
