The first and only time I was asked to play it I was a senior in high school. I wrote it out that afternoon on paper that I taped to a piece of cardboard, stuck it in the lyre, good to go, practiced it a number of times no problem. Got to the football field, and instead of having me play it from the stands where the pep band was, they made me play from inside the booth - where there were no lights. It was a closet in there. I always had to fight the nerves, and this did not help. Plus, I couldn't see a thing, so I had to go off memory. Got about halfway through, had to pull the chute. I was so ashamed about killing the national anthem I walked home from the game - three miles. I was a solid player, but my high school band never marched, I had never had to memorize anything. This girl is impressive, but I wouldn't say prodigy because the definition is a young person or child endowed with exceptional qualities or abilities. Honestly, an actual trumpet prodigy would be even more improved than a very young child (this talented girl). I give a thumbs up, but she is not, by definition, a prodigy.
yeah shes good for her age butit bothers me that people who dont know anything about wind instruments would think that shes like amazing just because they, are incompitent
Say a 15 yr old picked up the trumpet for the first time in his/her life. And after a year she/he played star spangled banner would u call him/her a prodigy?? No you *probably* wouldn't bc she/he is 15 no matter what age they still have to learn the same skill set in the same amount of time. Also the younger you are the better your able to pick up languages or skills and remember things... So I'd be more suprised about the 15 year old than the 7 yr old
@@huhwhat7527 they still have to learn the same thing no matter what their differences are and they are younger so they can adapt more easily to the trumpet and also trumpets super easy if it was trombone I would be a lot more surpised
I have been teaching music for many many years and believe me the trumpet is a 'mother' you know what! The trumpet can be described in one word 'unforgiving'! The fact that a seven year old has the guts to get up there in front of people and play without making any mistakes in itself tremendous. 7 years old is quite young to play the trumpet i usually recommend to start at 10 and they can really progress faster at that age. I think considering her age her performance and courage this little girl shows a lot of promise. If she puts in the practice time the trumpet in particular demands she will go far. Remember, when it comes to practicing any instrument,' what you put in is what you get back'. no short cuts. Good luck young lady!
She can play high notes? I CANT PLAY HIGH NOTES ON MY FLUTE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Edit: Before quarantine came I was able to play high notes but like now I’ve lost motivation in the flute.
AnimaticWeeb Remeber to have a smaller embouchure whenever playing high notes while blowing across the mouth piece with faster air speed. Try practicing using harmonics. Recommend watching “How to play higher octaves” and “ How to play high notes on the flute” by The Flute Channel.
WOW!! Such a mature sound. If she decides to go into music, she'll definitely be able to audition for the greatest orchestras in the world. That was truly impressive.
Little lady; all I can say is WOW, and God is going to take you to places with that kind of talent. Your parents should be very proud of you as I'm a Navy veteran, I'm proud of my country
From one trumpet player to another that was great. For a 7 year old hit a high F is no easy task. Great job little one. Your parents must be so proud. Keep going.
She is really good for her age and how long she has played. I play trumpet too so I know how impressive it is and it is amazing she is doing that at her age and level of experience. Go girl. That was amazing, especially that high note near the end.
She had perfect form. Perfect tone. No scratchy or scrunch sounds throughout. I am in 8th grade and I can play a triple C. But when even after 2 years I struggled to get a high G. And she is only 7. This comment is kinda late but let it be known that this girl has Massive potential. Cheers!
Bacon Productions Sure you are. She’s just not the exact definition of a prodigy. The little girl is getting only pity for her age. Bet you if a fat, middle aged lower class like man came up there with the exact same skillset, he wouldn’t get the exact same treatment. Possibly just an applause and that’s about it. Basically 2018 for you.
A girl after my own heart. I played the trumpet for many years and got a full ride scholarship to the university of Tennessee. When I started playing I was playing by ear because I hadn't been taught how to read music yet. Wonderful job young lady, I hope you stick with it you have a great talent
StrangerThings NoahGatenFinnCalebMillie Dang right she is excellent !! My son couldn’t do that when he was in sixth to seven grade.. ok he could and do it by ear but she is brilliant..she is in second grade people six or seven years old..!!!!
I think this song was lovely and the talent she put into that song made my heart smile! I think this young lady did a great job for just one year of playing AND only in second grade :O sounds like she is in 6th or 7th! I also really like how she is seven and going up to the HUGE crowed and not even being scared or frightened at all! We should ALL be proud of this young lady!
She is better then the trumpet players at the highschool i go to. And im not being mean I'm in the marching band and the trumpet players rely way to much on the 1st chair trumpet player. So whenever first chair isn't there they don't come in on time, they rush, they sometimes don't play at all, or they are way to quiet. The 1st chair is really good so when he is there he overpowers the other trumpets so it sounds good
I was first chair once. It's so awkward though! People rely on you if they make a mistake. My lips literally go numb because I used to be the only trumpet player in jazz band and everyone else was playing very loud lol
Yea I'm in beginner band and next fall in inermidiet but the band director practiced with me once and he said I sounded exactly like him and I'm the only trumpet that tries doing the dynamics and the full notes,my friend that sits beside me always ask me if he played good but there is this girl in the trumpets that I dispise because she thinks she is the best trumpet there and one of my other friends tried something and asked here who the best trumpet was and of course she said here self and every one else was terrible and a few days later we had a contest and I beat her.also a few weeks ago she got braces and I was really happy about that because she also plays way to loud on the music like if it's mf of piano when she plays it it sounds like her only volume is ff
Yea I'm in 8th grade and the other trumpets rely on me to play when their supposed to and count rests, the other day I missed school because I was sick and when I got back I was told that the band teacher said "just because he (me) isn't here, doesn't mean you can't play good"
Bro it was like in my 8th grade band. All the trumpets except like 3 people relied on me. Now were in high school and most of them don't do that now but a few still do Edit: I just realized I already commented on this lol
I MOST-EXTREMELY WANT TO CONGRATULATE BOTH THIS YOUNG LADY AND HER TRUMPET TEACHER!!!!!!!! Learning to play an instrument, a lot of times, is like a chain, in that it takes a student with a strong desire to learn, a fine teacher, a comfortable time and place to take the lessons & practice and a great support group (family encouragement or at least one parent or guardian) and a lot of talent. BRAVO!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!! TO THIS YOUNG LADY AND ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN, ARE PRESENTLY AND WILL BE THROUGH THIS YOUNG LADY'S MUSICAL JOURNEY. MAY SHE PLAY HER MUSIC FOR AS MANY YEARS AS SHE WISHES!!!!!! MAY GOD BLESS HER AS SHE EXPERIENCES THE PROPER NURTURING SHE NEEDS FOR CONTINUED MUSICAL MAGNIFICENCE!!!!!
why is she called a prodigy for making a middle C not a double or triple C why does every one calls kids 10 years or younger prodigy a prodigy is some one who is as good as Louis Armstrong or someone else that's very young, like 7-15 years old this makes me mad. Don't get me wrong she's good for her age but not a prodigy she could easily become one by practicing at least one hour a day regularly
1 year playing. Holy smokes, that was fantastic. Gets nice tone throughout the range, very solid attacks, no real split attacks in there anywhere. Nice and open, super-clean. I'm blown away. Fantastic!!!
south park figure review lol. i'm in marching band, and mostly everybody looks pissed off when we're marching it's only because we're focused and make sure we're playing the right notes, while moving
A lot of these comments are so stupid, with people being like “That’s okay I guess... For her age...” like seriously that is not cool she is an amazing player especially as someone who’s only been playing for one year and is at the age of seven, not just because she’s been playing for a year and is seven
You roll your lips in and raise your tongue to increase the speed of the air which makes your lips vibrate faster. Faster vibrations, higher pitches. Therefore, you can play multiple pitches without pressing down different buttons. All brass instruments work this way.

Honestly, an actual trumpet prodigy would be even more improved than a very young child (this talented girl). I give a thumbs up, but she is not, by definition, a prodigy.
LMAOOO your saying any other 2nd grader could do better
vincent perez no but an actual prodigy could. she just practiced a lot as a child
Ultimate Orange lmao but she is a child, she’s not even in middle school yet where a lot of people usually start
Perez doesn't matter she isnt a prodigy she is just an alright trumpet player
fire_angellover101 I bet you’re fun at parties...
yeah shes good for her age butit bothers me that people who dont know anything about wind instruments would think that shes like amazing just because they, are incompitent
just like your spelling
Alexander Patrick bro stop hatin
u make no sense
Alexander Patrick *makes comment about spelling* *uses "u" in next comment*
ITS NOT EVEN A WIND INSTRUMENT BRO
What a wonderful sound. She's 7 and sounds better than most of the trumpets in our band. And she held over the bar lines! Astonishing.
I'd say that's a prodigy, no not for a 25 year old, but for a 7 year old heck yeah.
So I'd be more suprised about the 15 year old than the 7 yr old
I agree
Tori V. They have weaker chops or “lip muscles and also have 2x lesser lung capacity and strength what did you expect?
@@huhwhat7527 they still have to learn the same thing no matter what their differences are and they are younger so they can adapt more easily to the trumpet and also trumpets super easy if it was trombone I would be a lot more surpised
Tori V. But they are weaker
Not a prodigy but she is pretty good for her age.😐😐😐😐😐😐👌
BILLCADDY true
David Hernandez wow...
That's what I was thinking to it was nothing spectacular. but at 7!?! Yea ok she has a future just not a prodigy
BILLCADDY its called a CHILD prodigy
dailydose ofbangtan I mean the star spangled banner isn't something that takes a "child" prodigy to play
Awesome work little one. Keep going!!!!!
Bluematrix101 _ why even? She didn’t even say anything bad. And at least she is being nice
-_- why
Thank you
I have been teaching music for many many years and believe me the trumpet is a 'mother' you know what!
Who plays the clarinet? (No Emoji for clarinets 🙄)😁
Clarinet gang
Not me haha trumpet players get an emoji 🎺
Maria Demeterca me
Maria Demeterca ME

Only daddy's and mommys prodigy
True
Collins Got Critters your funny
Eh shes not a prodigy
Emilio Gutierrez no, he's right. She's good but definetly not a prodigy
Collins Got Critters yay! you can be a smart ass! way to go! i can do it too!
She can play high notes? I CANT PLAY HIGH NOTES ON MY FLUTE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Edit: Before quarantine came I was able to play high notes but like now I’ve lost motivation in the flute.
Lol same the highest note I know is a high b flat
I can play high notes on my older flute but on my new one it is literally different and with both flutes I sometimes sound bad in high g and c.
AnimaticWeeb Remeber to have a smaller embouchure whenever playing high notes while blowing across the mouth piece with faster air speed. Try practicing using harmonics. Recommend watching “How to play higher octaves” and “ How to play high notes on the flute” by The Flute Channel.
Lonerd I am decent on high notes now? I mean my band got a Gold award today which they say it is rare.
You should probably get better then
WOW!! Such a mature sound. If she decides to go into music, she'll definitely be able to audition for the greatest orchestras in the world. That was truly impressive.
She looks like she hates her life when she plays.
Most trumpet players do
Bell Iron Fist true
Bell Iron Fist lmao saw you on insta somewhere
Fangis sameee I came to find this comment🤣💀
She probably does cuz her parents forced her to play trumpet
As a fellow trumpet, and me playing for 3 years and her playing for a year and her being so freakin amazing. She’s awesome❤️
Ij11k1o1l pl ll1 hi
Cool
Oml this was amazing I’m in beginner band and we played this starting off the concert and she was better than us lol WOW
Little lady; all I can say is WOW, and God is going to take you to places with that kind of talent. Your parents should be very proud of you as I'm a Navy veteran, I'm proud of my country
i play flute and violin, never got to try a trumpet, absolutely glorious for a 7 year old ! ❤
AWESOME!! 👏👏
If she's playing like this after only one year, her future is looking real bright!!
😎💰
She’s better then the trumpets in my Concert Band lmao 🤣
same, oh my god
I know right
Im in 7th and in symphonic! Sry for bragging im not trying to be mean but im so proud
This is a basic trumpet piece, even for a year 1 trumpet. I play the trumpet and could probably play the high version after my first year.
@@kaileydangelo6825 You should be proud
From one trumpet player to another that was great. For a 7 year old hit a high F is no easy task. Great job little one. Your parents must be so proud. Keep going.
ppl need to realize she’s in second grade and has this talent like pls
Brayden Munn guys just enjoy something for once
Calise Da Baddie true not even very good very flat
Yes, she has talent and is little but, she is not a prodigy.
Helloooooooo
She is really good for her age and how long she has played. I play trumpet too so I know how impressive it is and it is amazing she is doing that at her age and level of experience. Go girl. That was amazing, especially that high note near the end.
She had perfect form. Perfect tone. No scratchy or scrunch sounds throughout. I am in 8th grade and I can play a triple C. But when even after 2 years I struggled to get a high G. And she is only 7. This comment is kinda late but let it be known that this girl has Massive potential. Cheers!
It.. it was scratchy tho (but still amazing for da age)
a triple C like the one above the c above the staff?? man that’s high
@@Son_of_Bry22 bruh isnt it just called high C... triple c would be high than high G.
@@Stwz what
Great playing Judy! I see you memorised your music; outstanding! Also you play with a very nice full sound! Keep up the good work!👍🎺🎶🎵
Her smile at the end made my day !!
its so cute how her hands are so tiny that she has to hold the part of the valves :')
if *this* is what they call a prodigy I must be bill gates on a trombone smh
Same
Bacon Productions
Sure you are.
Bacon Productions your sister plays beautifully
your name goes so well with this comment
And I'm Luis armtrong
A girl after my own heart. I played the trumpet for many years and got a full ride scholarship to the university of Tennessee. When I started playing I was playing by ear because I hadn't been taught how to read music yet. Wonderful job young lady, I hope you stick with it you have a great talent
Get over it people!!!! Yes she may not be a prodigy but, she is good! And guys please it's called clickbait duuuuh🙄😂
it’s not clickbait you can clearly see her playing the trumpet “duuuuh”
Starkisha Productions actually the prodigy part is, but thanks
i totaly agree
StrangerThings NoahGatenFinnCalebMillie
Dang right she is excellent !! My son couldn’t do that when he was in sixth to seven grade.. ok he could and do it by ear but she is brilliant..she is in second grade people six or seven years old..!!!!
Greased Lightnin’ that doesn’t make it right? Lol
Well I wouldn't call her a prodigy but she is good for her age but her tone isn't that good especially in the low notes
I'd agree
Sean Smola yes she also plays it like a march style she is tonguing hard cutting of notes early shes far from a progidy
Sean Smola yea she plays an octave lower
Yeah it still sounded good though
it's funny reading criticisms of a 7 year old. how pathetic.... she is awesome. Damn straight Hj!!!!! Sounded great!!!!!
SAXOPHONE HUMANS WHERE ARE YOU????!!🎷🎷🎷🎶🎶🎼
No, I am a saxophone alien
i’m a saxophone bacteria, sorry
Wussah dude
Yeet I have appeared
frik yea I’m here
62 year old man..i've watched 30 of these , kids singing, playing..and still cry every time
Her articulation is amazing! I’m an intermediate trumpet and this is insane!
Not really
Lol no
I think this song was lovely and the talent she put into that song made my heart smile! I think this young lady did a great job for just one year of playing AND only in second grade :O sounds like she is in 6th or 7th!
I also really like how she is seven and going up to the HUGE crowed and not even being scared or frightened at all!
We should ALL be proud of this young lady!
Damn I can’t even memorize songs without a sheet and a 7 year old be doing it better than me
Thank you. It is one of the best renditions I have ever heard.
She is better then the trumpet players at the highschool i go to.
And im not being mean
I'm in the marching band and the trumpet players rely way to much on the 1st chair trumpet player.
Sameeee
Yea I'm in 8th grade and the other trumpets rely on me to play when their supposed to and count rests, the other day I missed school because I was sick and when I got back I was told that the band teacher said "just because he (me) isn't here, doesn't mean you can't play good"
Bro it was like in my 8th grade band. All the trumpets except like 3 people relied on me. Now were in high school and most of them don't do that now but a few still do
Edit: I just realized I already commented on this lol
She is in my orchestra now like 6 years later and I was so surprised when I saw this on my recommended
Is she actually a prodigy yet?
yeetus_deletus 3 I mean she’s good
Luke Strovel hahahah ahahah. Classic parents who wrote the title up aye. Puff their little one up and up 🤢
Oʀʀɪɴ Bᴇsᴛᴇʀ yeah maybe not a prodigy but she’s still good to this day
1:57 immaculate omg I’m impressed with how well she did that great job
She hit that F sharp louder than I can hit a C, impressive
She’s definitely skilled, and has a lot of courage to play alone in front of a crowd, but she has to work on her breathing. Very good though! 🌸
why is she called a prodigy for making a middle C not a double or triple C why does every one calls kids 10 years or younger prodigy a prodigy is some one who is as good as Louis Armstrong or someone else that's very young, like 7-15 years old this makes me mad. Don't get me wrong she's good for her age but not a prodigy she could easily become one by practicing at least one hour a day regularly
Bolt the hedgy
WOOT! PREACH IT..
say it louder for the people in the back
3 hours a day for 10 years and you can call yourself an expert.
I you do what I do during that one hour? Im sure that can make you a prodigy.
lol....
dude your just salty prob because she's better than you pal. You're just mad bro.
1 year playing. Holy smokes, that was fantastic. Gets nice tone throughout the range, very solid attacks, no real split attacks in there anywhere. Nice and open, super-clean. I'm blown away. Fantastic!!!
She is really good for her age, but I don't know if she is a prodigy..
HORN ANGLE 😭😭
Conner Hutto just llz stop she just a kid
Conner Hutto angle?
Conner Hutto *TRUMPET*
EXXOTIC PANDA bruh he (*cough* I’m not assuming genders *scratched “He” out*) *THEY* Meant shes awesome u dirty bird🖕🏽😁😬🤨😑😑
Shes better than you with your trumpet in a right angle
She looks pissed off
south park figure review lol. i'm in marching band, and mostly everybody looks pissed off when we're marching it's only because we're focused and make sure we're playing the right notes, while moving
south park figure review lol
That articulation is so good! Love it.
she can get her notes to NOT BE FLAT IF SHE DIDNT PUFF HER CHEEEEEEEKS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Lacey Renee puffing cheeks don’t affect it that much look at trombone shorty it don’t affect him (sorry I’m a trombone idk if it affects trumpets)
I was beating up a toilet paper roll while listening to this. Beautiful
Huh lmao
A lot of these comments are so stupid, with people being like “That’s okay I guess... For her age...” like seriously that is not cool she is an amazing player especially as someone who’s only been playing for one year and is at the age of seven, not just because she’s been playing for a year and is seven
Ok but they are saying that she is a prodigy and she is nowhere near being a prodigy. That's why people are saying she's good for her age
As a trumpet player, this is amazing and I approve her. Good job!
最後のハイトーンも最高だけど、最後の笑顔、更に最高!!
Not quite a prodigy, but still VERY impressive for her age!!
Kudos to this kid, she isnt a prodigy but she's better than a few of the trumpet players in my 6-8th grade band
Cameron Lee Music i know, but some people in my band arent that good.. no offense to them tho😂
Cameron Lee Music like this one kid can barely hit a g
Just seeing her face at the end of how proud she is and of other people saying good job! ❤ So adorable and love her! Made me cry.
She’s good for her age but a little flat at the beginning
She's a kid .... don't criticize her............
@@Moronvideos1940 So you shouldn't criticise anyone just because they're young? They'll never get better without advice and constructive criticism.
It was sharp not flat. Gotta fix your ears
I’m a kid and I can play jingle bells on trumpet
@@jessicataber5821 Ok?
My sister won the national trumpet competition and played on from the top when she was 10. That’s a prodigy
Isn’t this that girl who was on agt and was scream singing
Thats what i was thinking too

So true

Shes better than all the trumpets in my band class and we are in highschool!!! 🙊👍❤😂
Not to be rude, but your trumpets must be ass. This is a song most people can play year 1.
i’ve never understood trumpets, 3 buttons, multiple notes...? this is why i’m in orchestra
Violin life
You roll your lips in and raise your tongue to increase the speed of the air which makes your lips vibrate faster. Faster vibrations, higher pitches. Therefore, you can play multiple pitches without pressing down different buttons. All brass instruments work this way.
big mood
It’s something called a harmonic series you can press one valve and get a series of notes just by adjusting your embouchure
Cause you can tighten your embrochure (position of lips on the mouthpeice) to make a higher note
This little girl is a natural born trumpet player, I am 63 years old and I was eight years old when I started playing trumpet. I played in middle school high school, college at WVU, and was two times nominated to the McDonald all American high school band, keep it up little lady you’re a natural, don’t give it up stick with it!❤😁
