The scene where Shaun is just in his own world as everything unravels around him...stroke of brilliance.
Agreed
He’s just shambling through an average London morning. 😄
My adult kids and I, as well as my Mother, still to this day say “bye, bye, byebyebye” when we end a phone call.
Funny
Funny
"[about Ed] He's not my boyfriend!"
"[handing beer to Shaun] It might be a bit warm, the cooler's off."
"Thanks, babe. [winks at Ed]"
Fun Fact: George A. Romero, creator of the movies to which this movie pays homage and lampoons, was so impressed with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's work that he asked them to cameo in Land Of The Dead (2005) as zombies.
Multiverse Sequel Fact: Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright considered a sequel that would replace zombies with another monster, but decided against it, as they were pleased with this movie as a stand-alone product, and thought too many characters died to continue the story. The proposed title idea "From Dusk Till Shaun" did have an afterlife as a mocked up poster that can be seen in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018).
Background Noise Fact: Many of the zombie extras are fans of Spaced (1999), which also starred Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and was also directed by Edgar Wright. They were recruited through the Spaced Out fan website. All of the newsreaders and television presenters are real people portraying themselves.
good stuff thanks
This movie's a classic. Staple of horror/comedy.
To me, Shaun of the Dead did the best job in the trilogy of balancing emotion and comedy.
I loved it
This is such a great film. I think my favorite scene has to be the pub room fight between Liz, Shaun, and Ed against the pub owner in The Winchester as "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen is playing. It is such a great scene and it shows how a zombie horror film can be campy and scary at the same time. I love the witty writing and how they are able to poke fun at a post zombie apocalypse world in England. Edgar Wright is a fantastic writer and director.
primary school = elementary school
This movie references the 1978 Zombie Horror movie "DAWN of the Dead" in which the protagonists hide in a shopping mall similar to what you suggested.
The third movie in this 'trilogy' 'The World's End' has by far the most interesting premise of all three which I will not spoil here.
People on patreon are called Patrons.
Have a nice day.
Got it thanks
“We’re coming to get you Barbara!”
This was a nod to the original zombie film, Night of the Living Dead.
So many little things like this in the film.
Also, i know this is totally off topic, but I wanted to recommend , (in addition to Now and Then) also recommend a movie called I Am Sam. If you haven’t seen this movie and are a fan of the Beatles, this is an excellent movie!
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Now you have to watch "Paul". Simon Pegg & Nick Frost star as two Brits come to visit Area 51 in America, having rented a motorhome to tour the US.
Shaun works at Foree Electric which is a reference to Ken Foree who played Peter in the original Dawn of the Dead.
15:38 "I disagree about being on the ground level."
I do too. In this scenario the zombies are slow. As long as you had alternative exit routes and non-inept watchmen being on a higher level would be a wise option.
The old man getting beaten to the rhythm of the song is the funniest shit ever
I LOVE that scene. just amazing
When I first saw this I thought it was so boring, but I stuck with it and loved it. Love all three in the trilogy.
The World's End is also very much worth watching. It's the least funny out of the three, but the most emotional. Just a great film.
I'm sure I'll watch it
I've never tried to rank 'which of the 3' is the funniest, but i guess you're right >.
@@jroldo8353 The World's End is my favorite in the series but it is honestly the least funny nonetheless
The area around my mom's house would be ideal in the event of zombies. Rural, sparsely populated, lots of forest for good natural cover and a fuel source as needed.
There's tons of fruit orchards in the area, and lots of old houses with old farming equipment. It's out in the country so just about every house probably has a few few guns and ammo.
Lots of good room to farm, hunt, and even find some stray livestock to take in and have lots of room for them to graze.
Glad you enjoyed this one. I have to say I'm really enjoying your channel so far.
Love the reactions, I highly recommend tucker and dale vs. evil, it’s another horror comedy that’s pretty much a satire on the old slasher horror movies, and if you liked this I’m sure you’d like tucker and dale as well
I also highly recommend 100 bloody acres. It's an Aussie horror comedy and is very good but not enough people know it even exists.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Oh Lord yes! James would love Tucker and Dale vs Evil!
Tucker and Dale vs Evil is absolutely hilarious, that and Shaun of the Dead are two of my all time faves
Tucker and Dale is great, but it's best experienced when you've seen the movies it's referencing.
I think you'll love The World's End. Recapturing youth through a pub crawl. I think it's better than both. Also George Romero, who created the modern zombie culture has one recurring theme: people are their own worst enemies. Panic, greed, power and so on will always subvert cooperation and heroism. The zombies aren't the true enemy.
I'll have to finish the trilogy off
I’m jealous of you not knowing any of these movies. I wish I could walk into a world where there is so much great entertainment to check out and everyone just tells me what i should avoid and what to watch.
I’m excited to be watch you in the ride!
I enjoyed this reaction. It's nice to see a few British films thrown into the mix. And I'm glad you got a bit more enjoyment out of this one. :)
It's called the "Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy" because each film takes on different genres. The "Conetto" element is just a random jokey thing to loosely connect the films.
The three films are somewhat unofficial spin-off's from a British sitcom called "Spaced" which was also directed by Edgar Wright (in the same cinematic style with multiple movie references) and co-written by and starring Simon Pegg. It also co-starred Nick Frost and featured numerous other actors who were recast in the trilogy of films.
One episode of "Spaced" featured a zombie and referenced the playstation game "Resident Evil 2" and the movie "Dawn of the Dead", thus inspiring Simon and Edgar to write and film "Shaun of the Dead" instead of making season 3 of "Spaced".
That's cool thanks
Thanks so much for watching the first two films of the Cornetto Trilogy. A cornetto is eaten at some point in each movie. I have a soft spot for them personally because I was lucky enough to go to a Corentto Trilogy movie marathon at Cinemark when At Worlds End released. I highly recommend completing the Trilogy but either way I throughly enjoy your videos and will keep watching regardless! 😃
I didn't know anything about this when I was in a Italy last year. Otherwise I would have gotten one.
If you're from the UK, going to the pub makes perfect sense.
Got it
Not part of the trilogy but I always loved "Paul" with the same actors
added
Night of the Living Dead is public domain, and the colorized version is very watchable. It would make a great reaction video because you could show the whole thing!
Also, you should watch it before watching Shaun of the Dead again.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned the movie yet but the movie Paul (2011) has both Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the main characters. I'd say its definitely worth watching at some point.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Great video as always!
Another great zombie movie is Train to Busan, which might make you rethink how easily you’d survive a zombie apocalypse
Added
Tucker and Dale vs evil is the best comedy horror movie IMO!!
Best Zombie Comedy Horror film ever made!
I laughed
Yes!! Have a feeling the cornetto series will grow on you like fine wine ;).
Fingers crossed!
Love the Channel!
Enjoyed the video.
Yay I love this movie, has one of my favorite scenes in it and can't wait to see you watch it! Keep up the great work
What scene?
Hope you enjoyed it
@@AwesomeUSMovies absolutely did!! 😊
@@coryH420 when him and ed are on the couch and the one armed zombie comes in.. their reaction cracks me up just thinking about it, I cackled when I saw it in the video lol glad it made the edit
@@leloyoung1190 okay yeah I agree it's pretty funny mine is probably when they're dancing drunk to the hip hop music it reminds me of a night with me and my buddy.
2:55 it’s a cricket paddle. Cricket is basically the ancestor of Baseball.
Yep that's it
Paddle's a new one to me 😃 , always been bat in every use I've seen/heard/used.
Suppose is a country thing, with the shape.
@@RatelRegalement bat is the correct term. It was more of a case of my English being weird annd I didn't bother to look it up correctly inthe middle of the night. xD
1611 cricket
1851 baseball
It’s a cricket bat NOT a paddle.
Awesome Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍👍😎 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Thanks
@@AwesomeUSMovies You Welcome!
Loved this movie, great reaction video 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
I swear this is my new favorite channel lol
Oh thank you so much. That's awesome
Watched thos film around the same time as Team America. That was a great double feature.
loved it!
STAN is my favorite with these two.
Really Stan??
Such a fresh take on the genre.
I only have 3 channels. Netflix, Amazon Prime & "Awesome US Movies"😀
I love it!!!
Hi James, I don’t know your movie picking system, there’s a film that I love and I think might bust your funny bone too. It’s called,
‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’
It’s almost too funny
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
@@AwesomeUSMovies please bump it up the list. I rewatched it again. It’s so funny
Watch the trailer 🤠
It had the most realistic ending to a zombie film, though: the military took care of it in about a day.
People are too obsessed with headshots, and think the only way to kill them is to get in close with a melee weapon or get a perfect headshot.
I think they'd figure out pretty quickly how to lure them into big, open areas and blow them to smithereens. A cruise missile isn't gonna blow up everything EXCEPT their brains...
Shawn of the dead came out in 2004. Zombies originally weren't fast. They didn't have to be. I'm surprised you said you like this one. I wasn't sure based on your reaction. So it was nice to hear. I'm not sure if you'll like the third one. I love it but we'll see if maybe you do.xx
yeah I did like that one. it was funny.
Glad you enjoyed the movie! The "Don't Stop Me Now" scene is definitely the best!
Love that scene
@@AwesomeUSMovies Also the end in the garden with Ed, the Queen song is You're My Best Friend
Nick Frost and Simon Pegg is an iconic duo.
5:34 Primary school is our equivalent to elementary basically (from 5 till 11 years of age).
Cool thanks
A man of his word! thank you good sir.. Shaun of the Dead is a lot funnier then Hot Fuzz in my opinion.. I'm glad you enjoyed this one more
Very much enjoyed it
Not into the blood and gore movies, but this one had enough humor to get me through. Once in a lifetime for me is good enough for me. lol
I love Zombie movies. You should watch Workd War Z. :) That’s an amazing zombie film. Your reactions are so fun
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Primary school is what your elementary school is called in the U.K. and in Ireland. We have primary school to about age 12, then secondary school (your high school) to 17 or 18, and after that college/university. Another difference in the U.K. and Ireland is that we don't refer to college/university as 'school' like Americans do. If you say school in the U.K. or Ireland, people assume you are talking about school up to the age of 18. So if you're an American in your 20s and you say "I'm majoring in History at school", someone from the U.K. or Ireland might think 'School? In your 20s? Wow he must be slow..."
Cool thanks
I like this kind of humor! I did like Hot Fuzz a lot!✌🏻☀️look forward to the 3rd one!
I can’t ever hear this Queen song without thinking of this scene.
They go great together
You just made my jaw drop in utter astonishment!
6 or 7 out of 10? For Hot Fuzz?? 😮😯😲😳🤯
It's an easy 10 for me!
A 10??? come on, of all the movies you've seen in your entire life. This is the best?
@@AwesomeUSMovies No, not THE best. Out of Africa and The Quick and the Dead are also 10s for me.😊
Such a great horror comedy.
Another good one that also stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is the movie Paul.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
another class reaction
Thanks
The Caped Crusader couldn't help them this time.
I enjoy your reactions!
Thank you so much
Gotta finish the “trilogy” now.
If you like foreign movies, but don't have a passport, take a look at "Fargo" (1996). The Coen Brothers make the U.S. Midwest as mysterious as any "Francois La Chance." Then, there's the first Coen Brothers movie I saw, "Raising Arizona" (1987). Going overseas again, "Cinema Paradiso" (1988) is a must for of anyone who likes movies or "Bacurau" (2019), with Yankee carpetbaggers hunting locals for fun.
This in only the 2nd "foreign" film on this channel. Lots of US stuff to watch.
Wow I'm really into horror movies adding this to my list 😅
I hope you will watch George Romero’s zombie movies which inspired this and countless other films. He really defined the modern zombie as we know it starting with his 1968 film Night of the Living Dead and continuing with Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.
Added to list thanks
I'd seen this first, so seeing Peter Serafinowicz show up in the second John Wick (the Sommelier / Armourer) was quite a surprise xD
I bet
@@AwesomeUSMovies He's also the voice of Darth Maul in "Phantom Menace".
The movie is one awesome, huge parody of „Dawn of the Dead“ (where they retreated to a shopping mall rather than a pub). Loving the British humor. xD
Added
Eh I wouldn’t personally recommend it, but feel free. :P Just wanted to point out which movie they were mocking mostly.
I love this movie 😂
Paul 2011 is an American movie with the same two leads. It's a pretty good stoner road-trip type movie. Might be worth a look.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
I enjoy funny scary movies, this, and Zombieland (2009), and Warm Bodies (2013) are other delightful zombie movies.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
I just watched this one recently
Glad you liked this 😁😁
Me too
This movie is a love letter to zombie apocalypse movie. Hot Fuzz is a love letter to American cop buddy action movies. This one's funnier, imo. But if you're well familiar with American cop buddy action movie tropes, you'll get more often jokes and references in Hot Fuzz. Since you haven't been emerged in movie culture, I can see why you were ambivalent.
I think I'd do well in a zombie apocalypse. At least... better than my husband; he's worse than useless in an emergency. Sorry hon lol
I really enjoyed your reaction.
Thanks for watching
Commenting for the contest :)
Not part of the set, but starring Pegg and Frost and i think more up your alley is "Paul"
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Another movie starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost that you should see is Paul. It's not part of the Cornetto movies but I think you would enjoy it.
Added
You've watched Shaun of the dead and Hot fuzz, now you need to finish the Cornetto trilogy by watching the worlds end, it's my favorite of the 3 films
I do need to get to that one
@@AwesomeUSMovies if it helps, Amazon prime video has it for free, just rewatched it the other day
Yes The World's End is a touching and hilarious end to the Cornetto Trilogy. Definitely a must watch.
Lots to watch
There's kind of an unofficial sequel to the Cornetto Trilogy, different director, different supporting cast, probably a different studio, definitely a different country, the US, but it has Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in a buddy comedy, so it has some of the same feel, and it came out right after the Trilogy, sort of along similar timing. Anyway, Paul is a good movie, a send up of Ufology and Sci-fi/fantasy/comic book/gaming convention culture, in a buddy travel comedy.
I need to watch the 3rd now
I need to watch the 3rd now
Please, oh please do the movie "Paul" too :-) It's with these two guys and it takes place in America :-)
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
I love this movie
I very much enjoyed it
I recommend Juan de los Muertos, is a Cuban-Spaniard film that I guess is a parody/re-imagine of this one. A very interesting type of comedy.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
@@AwesomeUSMovies thanks for replying! Must say, is a raunchy comedy, just so you know haha
Hija James :)
If You like Zombie Movies You should (also ) watch Warm Bodies from 2013 because its ....a twist from the Usual Zombie Movies I highly recommend that one
You should also watch the ....Original Trliogy from George A Romero (Night of the Living Dead (in B&W) , Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead) and if you can't get enough of them there is a not so well known Remake of Night of the Living Dead by Tom Savini (He's the Special Effect Guy for the Trilogy) from 1990 .I like the Remake even more than the Original (which is Great nonetheless) .Night of the Living Dead(the Original and the Remake too) and Dawn of the Dead should Go to your Bucket List , Day of the Dead and the other ones not so much ,
Oh and the 3rd Part of the Cornetto Trilogy is The World's End .I'm looking forward to Your Reaction on that one
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Could you take down a zombie with a vinyl disc? Which records?
oh, good questions... pretty much anything country probably.
Great 🙂
I hated The World's End, but I was 30 when it came out so I think the subject matter just hit too close to home.
It's like, I had outgrown partying all night with friends and drinking my body weight in beer. But nor did I want to become some workaholic drone who only ever talks about what lawn care or what route he took driving somewhere.
I'm from the midwest, I have SEEN this transformation where people who were once fun and interesting people to be around turn into clones of their parents.
And if you did ANYTHING other than this, you were not considered a real adult.
And that still hasn't been resolved.
Actually, this movie handled that theme much better: Shaun matured by the end AND still made having fun a priority.
Someone probably answered but primary school is K-6. As in 5 years old until 12
Cool thanks
Baby Driver from the same director is great and its a US movie. Another movie from same director Scott Pilgrim Vs the World is a favorite of mine but mainly for people who grew up on 80's and 90's video games and comics.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
I think farmer types will ALWAYS do well in a zombie apocalypse. Access to food and resources, shotguns, heavy machinery to deal with hordes and also sparsely populated areas. Your biggest threat would be other random survivors but they could also be your greatest resource if you could afford to support them.
100% correct. that's we have land mines.
You should check out Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse from 2015!! I like that one,.. Or Warm Boddies from 2013, that one's good too.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Watch this movie enough times you will begin to recognize the community residents from the first day as zombies later.
Funny
honestly covid has made this movie seem more realistic than ever
This movie was frustrating for me, but it wasn't a bad movie though. The roommate/best friend just got on my nerves, lol.
There are more movies that have Simon Pegg and Nick Frost teaming up together. You should watch Paul next. That one is a US movie. They play a couple of friends that are touring the US in an RV visiting famous UFO landmarks, when they meet an Alien named Paul and give him a ride.
Added
The movie Inheritance ( 2020 ) starring Simon peg was considered a flop but I thought it was great. Maybe 2020 just ruined it's chances
A woman's well off father dies but leaves her only a key . It's to an old bunker in the woods behind the house . When she goes in Simon peg is chained to a wall .
Only serious role ive seen him play and I thought he did great .
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Sweet
Thanks
Primary school is ages 5-11 ish
Thanks
FYI, if you like Pegg and Frost but you also want to stick with "Awesome US Movies", there _is_ also 2012's Paul.
