It does represent a lot of old women I know in the UK. I was visiting in 2019 during the election campaign and went to someone's 80th b'day party. They were all moaning about public services, closing libraries, NHS, potholes etc. etc. I asked how they were going to vote, they all said "Conservative". I said, "Why would you vote for them if you're so unhappy about your public services and they've been in for nearly 10 years." Their eyes glazed over and they went back to their cake. But they all came across as purposefully ignorant in regard to how this country has been governed, not just in the last 14 years, but previous to that, which is a great shame, and not something, I’m sure, they would have wanted. There are plenty of outlets where anyone, with a mind too, can check out the pro’s and con’s of what is on offer which can be constructively used to make a truly informed decision about not only the future of the county, but their own future too.

People come to the UK because English is the most common lingua Franca so many already speak English. Francophone refugees stay in France.

@@juliangauld7331 According to the UK's Home Office, France receives a much larger number of asylum seekers than Britain - around 113,000 in the year ending March 2022, compared to some 67,000 in the UK Those who arrive in France are to be found scattered across many different parts of the country, with many of them choosing to remain. I can’t find the 2023 figure unfortunately.
