I think it is important to be clear that Elon Musk's version of free speech is not at all the same thing as its original meaning, for example, in the first amendment to the US constitution. It might seem academic, but there is a huge difference between the two. The first amendment version, which I applaud, was the idea that individuals should have the right to speak out against politicians and government without the threat of prosecution or being killed, as happens for example, in Russia. This encourages reasonable debate - a principle of the enlightenment. Elon Musk's version of free speech is that individuals should have the right to offend each other and say whatever they think, whether true or false. This discourages reasonable debate because if lies shouted on a medium like X have the same value as the truth, reaching agreement about what is actually true is much harder. Musk is against enlightenment, as he has demonstrated by backing uber-lier Donald Trump. It's time that the left and those keen to preserve what is left of truthful debate stopped being so tolerant of intolerance (see Karl Popper's paradox). We need to fight back against the forces that are trying to reverse enlightened debate and pretend that truth doesn't exist, like Trump, Musk and their minions like Farage, and call these people out.
@@timthetiny7538 The first amendment protects the freedom of speech from government restrictions based on the content, ideas, or subject matter of the speech. It does not prohibit all limits on free speech, including by private entities including individuals and corporations. Look it up.
