I know who is grinding your chain lol. He is a modest gentleman to say the least.

never know whats in a tree. once after a tree removal i was cutting the stump down and right in the middle of a elm that was probly 4 foot on the stump was an old fence post. i hit it right on the tip too and it kicked back so hard the 660 with a 36 inch bar i completely burried shot out the cut like a rocket ship and almost took me with it. probly was one of the sketchiest moments ive had in my 8 years working in tree service. im always ready for kickback and can predict it but not that time lol

Woo hoo!!! The nail didn’t slow that down much!!! That chain seemed fast!!

The chain held up better than you thought; I believe it hit that nail twice! You can watch a portion of the nail fall out of the cookie and see it again in the next cut. Nice cutting chain!!

I still run round filed/ground. It is easier to touch up on the fly.

Looking at your cookie piece and hearing your description of how the cutting changed with only a slight vibration- I’m betting it a lead bullet not a nail.
    On comparison videos-
A freshly sharpen round filed chain and a freshly sharpened square filed (presumed both are filed accurately) will have little time difference.
The comparison needs to be done after both chains have cut a full tank of gas- each cutting the same diameter and clean wood. That’s difficult to do. The square file will out perform round filed hands down. It’s the durability of the square along with (as you mentioned) the smoothness of the cut that makes it worth while.
I’ve been square grinding for 35 years. SDM-4 Silvey
I run a CTL logging system in the northeast- hardwood and softwood- felling limbing and bucking.
    Square ground is the best.

I’m having trouble with 325. I just can’t get it to eat like I want it to.

After watching bucking billy hand file a with a hex file. I picked up one and after tuning up my chain on my stihl 290 farm boss, it eats like crazy. It’s close to a square grind but I don’t have a grinder. Hand filed square chain if my new favorite. It’s almost like a hybrid cross between round file and square ground

I seen the black and knew it had metal in the log. Pine hides em better so I don’t know till it’s too late with them

I know you don't mean it that way, but it seems you finally got a square that really cuts, and that's when you decide to quit the comparisons with the round. I don't care either way what's faster but why not compare to the round against this chain at least.
Sorry about your tough luck, and I like the videos either way, so thanks for the content.

I hold a lot of respect for all persons involved. I don’t want to unintentionally do anything that may hinder their ability to earn revenue or cause unnecessary drama. I know most people will not see it that way but there are many who will see it that way.
This is the same reason that I don’t compare saws built by different people. I only feature the saws individually. I never compare them.
