@@MyFishingObsession101 we got to fish with the Aussie fly fisher crew up at the cape lodge in Weipa! So much fun we are going back for two weeks in 2026!
What fun! Just watched it with Bumble. She was impressed by the trevs. I was taken by the triggers. I think I'd probably dedicate most of my time to them, given the choice!
No, we changed guides each day. You would probably be able to request the same guide if you wanted too, but I found they all had there different preferences for working areas and I found that variety good.
You definitely could do it without guides but having a boat driver who knows where to go I think is a big benefit as there is such a maze of flats. I sight fish a LOT but the guides definitely saw fish before me.
@@MyFishingObsession101thx for the reply. The fact is that we are looking for a place to go flats fishing in february / march. We are with a small group of experienced fly fishermen and usually we do guided trips in Belize, Cuba, Australia and such. Now we would like to try a diy trip so we don't have to spend a ton of money for a change. Diy in Cuba is difficult. We were thinking about Bahamas or maybe Christmas island. So far Christmas island looks a lot better. The only problem is getting there all the way from the Netherlands. But thx for the reply and tight lines😎 👍
what a fun looking trip!
So much so that I booked for 2 weeks next year!
That sounds like us with Australia 😂
Where do you come to over here? I’m based in Townsville.

Triggers were definitely more of a challenge!! Lift the rod to cast at 60ft and they would spook!
Awesome vid, beautiful place, what lodge did you stay at? Fishing right out the backyard, way cool!
Awesome place mate. I stayed at The Villiages Lodge. Have a chat to Andrew Vockler at in2fly.
Did you get keep same guide all trip. I’m going in October. Staying at the Villages.

@@MyFishingObsession101 Thanks for the input, the video was great!
Looks like you don't really need a guide over there. Or are the guides mandatory in that lodge ?
