Super helpful video. I especially like how you repeated three times, these are the three things you will do. You made it very clear what the role does and an expectation of what tasks a person will face being in the role. Cheers!

This video was very helpful! I just accepted a position as a product specialist in tech and learned a lot from your content. Looking forward to more specialist/manager videos. Will the product specialist position be a good stepping stone to becoming a product manager? If so, any tips?
Makes us so happy to hear you found the video helpful, Edwin! Woohoo 🙌🏽 congrats on your new role, we are wishing you all the best, you are going to do great. Absolutely, the PS role is a good stepping stone to becoming a PM. We know several coworkers who were product specialists and are now working as product managers, including myself. In terms of tips, as a PM you are solving problems every day and need to be very structured in how you think and communicate, we encourage to meet and work as closely as possible with the product managers at your new company and ask if you can shadow them, attend their meetings, share that you want to become a PM one day with them and your manager, and volunteer to take on projects that will allow you to improve processes at the company you are working on, or ones where you can be part of developing a new feature or tool so that you can see the product development process firsthand. Most importantly, have fun in your new role, learn a ton, ask questions, stay curious. 😀🎉 We are rooting for you Edwin, we hope this advice is helpful (we will make more videos on this topic) and let us know if you have any additional questions. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for this super useful video. I was recently asked a question during my product solutions interview at google and wanted to get your thoughts on it. Here’s the question - ‘what metrics would I look at if advertisers complaints went up to see what’s going on ?’ Was wondering what your take on it might be as someone who’s an experienced product specialist. Thanks!:)

I'm on the verge of becoming this with my current role assisting with the onboarding of clients like this at Instagram and Facebook. I just don't know how to do use a database, can you do a tutorial on it?
Good question Sonam! Yes, product specialist is oftentimes part of the customer support team, or works closely with the support team to better understand trends on product issues and bugs, or contact center volumes to help the product team address pain points customers may be facing.
Hi, this video is very helpful! but what is the difference between product specialists with customer success roles in SaaS companies? Since product specialist job includes acting as the product expert externally and internally and also training customer-facing colleagues.
From my experience, there is usually some overlap in SaaS companies. SaaS CS roles, especially at smaller companies which do not have PS roles and rely on the CS teams for this data. This can create gaps in organizations where the CS teammates aren't completely focused on documenting the details, producing recommendations, or gathering the data and leads to an unhappy customer base because the product quirks/bugs aren't being improved. No data = Not prioritized.
Good question! Content strategists tend to work closer with marketing and design teams than product specialists. However, there is an overlap with the product specialist role in the sense that as a Content Specialist you will spend the majority of the time researching trends on content, such as print and digital media, and develop the strategy for the specific content of a business, product, or platform. Product Specialists tend to work closely with engineers and product managers, and instead of focusing on content, the role tends to focus more on the performance of a product or feature. Hope this helps! Feel free to check out our videos for practical advice to help you in your interview prep. You got this, we wish you all the best and keep us posted!

Hi Dante! This is my first time here. I am an online freelancer and I tried coding but failed. I am looking for other tech jobs that doesn't involve coding. Do you think cloud computing is good for freelancers? If so, what particular path in cloud computing would be best for freelancers like me? Thank you if you can respond!
