    I watched the video and read through some comments and thought it might be helpful to share a few things to better understand UCC. Unlike most spray "coatings," UCC is in fact a true blue real deal cross-linking and fully curing ceramic coating. How? A VERY unique and advanced chemistry that places the catalyst inside a special emulsion that requires the physical wiping action in order to be activated. While most sprayable waxes and sealants don't really require a specific approach to get a similar end result, UCC does have a few nuances to it.
    For starters, the best way to apply it is by spraying the product directly onto the paint (not into a towel or an applicator), and then using a microfiber towel to work it into the paint (key being working it INTO the paint, not just super softly spreading it around) so that the emulsion breaks and the catalyst is released to start the curing process. This is what keeps it from curing when exposed to air inside of the bottle. (To my knowledge, there is no other product on the market that achieves this with this type of emulsion). Secondly, in order to take out the stress of "wipe-off window" issues, a slowing agent is present that keeps the product from immediately starting to cure. This means you can miss a spot and wipe it off a day and sometimes more later no problem.
    The trade-off is that it does need a full week for curing before hitting it with any sort of chemicals. Furthermore, if it is particularly cold (ie sub 70 degrees) the curing can be further slowed. Parking it in direct sun (even if the temps are below 70) should still help create warmth on the surface and help evaporate the slowing agent so that the coating can cross-link and cure. As many have found out, the early tests of this product were done in a particularly cold stretch in the US where the temp was not only below 70, it was below 60 for a couple of weeks on end. Basically a worst case scenario for curing.
    People ask for true innovation and transparency and authenticity in advertising, and that's what you get with UCC. On the flip-side, you have trade offs because it does require a little bit more effort than a more basic "spray coating" that offers inferior hydrophobics, slickness and/or gloss/darkness for the paint. Not every product needs to be for every person - this is just another option for folks who want a real coating without spending tons of money and time prepping and applying it.
    Hopefully that helps - let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them. (PS, use the @ tagging feature so I get a notification).

      Thanks Markus! I will make sure to adjust my application and not use the applicator. I will 100% admit that I used farrr to much product when I applied it. I’m used to the applicator soaking up the excess, and combined with overlapping the application I can work the product down to a point where it’s good for wipe off. I’ll adopt your method when I reapply and make sure I’m thorough in application (would you say a short nap microfibre is the better towel for this product?).
      I did have my temps in range for application, I always heat the garage to at least room temp range when applying products, so I keep that as it was. Would directing the hot air from the heater at the panel help in this regard or is it more of a UV exposure that helps?
      Again, thanks for watching and commenting, looking forward to the reapplication.

      My experience has been spot on with this. When I applied it correctly the slickness and beading rivals some pro ceramic coatings some of the other spray coatings are on par with regular spray wax with better durability its not fair in my opinion to compare the two application wise I think you should really compare Meguiars existing spray wax like the hybrid or ultimate.. cheaper and easy to apply.

    • @MarkusKleis
      @MarkusKleis 7 месяцев назад +7

      @@sheepstardetail MY pleasure :) Short to medium nap should work fine - I use towels around 350GSM. The main thing is to spray straight onto the paint - believe it or not we found measurable differences in performance doing rounds of testing between spraying into the towel vs directly onto the paint. I know - weird - and also counter to how I typically recommend spray waxes or sealants, too!
      The second thing is to simply keep wiping it into the section until it basically goes clear. You will notice it seems to more or less just smear around for the first 15-20 seconds (give or take), and then all of the sudden it starts to wipe pretty darn clean (about 80-90%). At that point I either flip to a clean dry side of the towel, or get a second towel and then do a final round of dry buffing and you should be set.
      As for using hot air, IR or sunlight - anything that helps get the surface temp to around 70 degrees f or above will work. Parking it out in the sun should work fine unless it is super cold and windy, for example.
      Hope that helps!

      @@MarkusKleis thanks for the tips! I’ll heat the garage then direct hot air at the panel after buffing. I’ll keep an eye on the residue and flip once I see it clear up. Applying tonight, and filming the process so people can see the difference.
