- The weekend 29/11 - 2/12 2007 the largest lan-party in the world took place at Dreamhack in Jönköping. At the same time the world's fastest internet connection was established with 40 gigabit per second performance.
web.dreamhack.s...
downloading 10gb of files in a matter of minutes i wish i have this fast internet
I love how 2011 DHW smashed its own record with 120Gbps internet connection.
I just imagined having all this internet for my self.. aaaaand i need to change my pants
So awesome that i live in Norway, Dreamhack is the world biggest lan, and the gathering in Noreway is the worlds second biggest lan.
@Hardc0reHumm3l
That's the whole point. The metaphore here is a raceway as opposed to a city street as opposed to Dreamhack's internet system as opposed to your homes. Obviously: there's certain things you can't compare, streets need to be replaced, it's illegal to race on the street as opposed to using your internet at home. But the idea is that people would want to go to a huge festival, hang out with people who share their passions, and can sit around and talk all day: Like a race track
Most people don't go to Dreamhack to play - they go to either download or meet up.
I am so sorry to hear that.
at the gathering in norway, there is shows, stands, wreshling contestes, and mutch more. if ya are going to scandinavia to join a LAN, the gathering is best:P
"The weekend 29/11 - 2/12 2007"
Video descriptions are cool :)
He had a concert there once.
And he's been there other times aswell.
He even got some footage from DreamHack in his "DotA" video.
@AudunBarsk
Do you believe in antivirus? Im not saying that it dont do its work, but actually when people buy one they are buying which fools the user best. Many big antivirus wont detect some viruses.
I live in sweden and the most common connection that ppl have is 24/1 mbps or 24/8 mbps thrue cable or adsl. However, here i live (in this city) is it able to get 100/10 mbps or 100/100 mbps thrue fiber.
thinking of going to dreamhack sometime. maybe next winter, or this summer (but probably feels more "cozy" when its cold n dark =P)
It's nice to live in Sweden, I'm happy with my 115mbit connection. I feel bad for US and other countries where they dont focus on building the infrastructure of the future.
Is it true that you can only have like 5-10mbit in most households in the US and other european country? Or is it even lower then that?
Actually, a bit is 1/8 byte. So 40 Gbit = 5 GB/s. But the fastest hard drives support a maximum transfer speed of 300 Mbit/s = 37,5 MB/s.
except it's against the party rules, and the net is monitored all the time.
So...are they using speeds comparable to Verizon's OC192 ???
this were like 2 years ago, we got more now..
@SimonAlling But our english language is pretty good for not being a english speaking country :o?
Of course there isn't. It's a ROUTER. It provides 40Gbps bandwidth split between every user at Dreamhack. For example, 2500 simualtaneous clients would each get around 2MB/sec.
Google search for: 40gigabit/sec in KBps
and you'll see. Divide that by amount of users for KBps.
@SimonAlling swedish accent in English is beast! love it, you should hear us french canadians
@EXetoC Actually it does matter, with a 1mb connection you have about 200 ms in wow, as I said I have about 21 ms, think of interrupting a lock casting fear or something similar, the fear cast is like 1 sec, 200 ms makes it 20% harder to interrupt... so ye it kind of does matter, besides the faster your connection is the more stable it is, no lagspikes etc.
@awesomeiguy You dont thnk they have torrent's running in the background:)?
@hjaldemort ok... are u going to DH this year? :P
I can't even imagine the cables that place uses, good lord.
it is idd the fastest broadband connection in the world into one private company. 40 gig in and out. and ofc it gets way slower when devided. btw all the switches wich you connect your computer in is 10-100. so never gets superhigh for anyone.
undrar hur snabbt det blir per person?
fan va man borde ladda ner/upp om man e föst där :D vill dit
What should they play instead? It's a social game just like CS and so on..
I bet at those download speeds the internet is waiting on your hard drive.
@FPSMartin wrong. sweden has the fastest and cheapest internet. 100mb internet for $20usd a month.
In Latvia 200Mbit/sec connection costs you like 50$ a month. Look it up, it's true, then proceed to moving here.
They are trying out 250 Giga now in sweden. Also the people in the citys now can get 1 gigabite. So Sweden has come very far.
"It's very very fast, so I can play very fast. It's good."
we are actually using laserteknik
i live 1 mile from there :D
This doesnt beat Sigbritt Löthberg's connection she is 75+ years old and she got a 40Gb/s connection before and also at dreamhack they are several thousend people who have to share it she got 40 Gb/s for herself. (She also has the world record)
I could like download everything on the Internet with this speed !!
cool..
How much is the price?!
by day by hour?!
Enjoy cost nothing..!!
Let me have my moment of internet glory, bro.
If I go to a Dreamhack I would cut the internet wires LOL
@lucamasira this was in 2007, their internet is still world's fastest
@Hardc0reHumm3l
And there's also a difference between just being on Vent and playing games together, rather than actually hanging out in person. A massive difference. And if you can't see that, then there's no hope.
I don't know what you're talking about with WoW but it doesn't make any sense.
This is actually TeliaSonera International Carrier's Advert.
I max d/l at 1MBPS.
Very high for one central london user.
Ah I didn't realize the price differs for different seasons :) Winter is actually 790sek according to their website, but you were closer than me :)
can someone tell me why we don't have this in internet companies
2mb means you need to convert it to bits... :D ISPs use bytes to make it look larger for consumers...
25 people had to watch this video on a dial-up connection.
in mexico there was an event like this it only reached 20 gbps
@SimonAlling
Im moving to Sweden. You guys speak good English, awesome mountains for snowboarding, dreamhack, +swedish fish.
Why does Northern Europe kick America's ass? :(
"Dreamhack don't know 'bout our internetz" - NASA
Mind setting this up in my garage...?
@Jonnegbg någon som är bildad?
någonsin sett "Simpsons"? Mr.Burns säger ofta "splendid Smiters"
@Shitcrosss Telia can afford to sponsor Dreamhack with 1Tbit internet connection if they want to. But they dont need to. Its just overkill.
hehe was this from DHS (DreamHack Summer) or DHW (DreamHack Winter)
@CrawlingCoconut ouch yeah i got 12mbps and its terrible with 3 others and a tv on the network. Im definitely glad that we dont have 256k dial-up though! Im surprised that yall have such a low bandwidth over there, well nvm yall are not connected directly so that must explain the speed cause your not land lined with the servers your probably viewing and/or downloading from.
Jesus Christ I would love to attend.
Imagine seamless video streaming,online gaming and downloads.
I run at about 400MBPS on a 1GB LAN but this is nothing compared to this.
28mbit per person
@SuperMageo yeah steelseries bought out icemat so they're steelseries now i think
Why are we not funding this?
I said, look at his laughter
Actually the most common broadband is about 100mbit up and 10mbit down. Only limited to 10 up due to ass company BBB, otherwise if you are connected to your towns network you will be able to get synthetic 100mbit easily.
@chord95
TG11 (Norway) had 100Gbit, Dreamhack 11 has 20Gbit
Why do you need internet, it's a LAN party.
And at Dreamhack Winter 2011 we had 120 gbps in downloadspeed while the uploadingspeed were at 360 tbps (terabit per second) kinda crazy.. Cost something around 46 million SEK's (Swedish crowns)
(._.)
and that was only in 2007! imagin wat its gonna b like now?!!!!
@JonteTheMan1
If they are 10k ppl it's about 4,1 megabit for each one
Is 0.24 mbps good speed? I live in Burma and I got only 0.24 mbps down and 0.11 mbps up.
And Dreamhack winter 2011 they are going on _120 Gigabyte_ instead of 40,
yo man i wanna join this event man just love computer events and related things
@marcuslind90 most are 5mbit but you live in big cities there anywhere from 25 to 80 mbit
Lol it's fine, I remember when I had dial-up. *chill*
@MalismDK 40 not 14. Look at the description.
we DO have the tech, i read an article where a woman had a bandwidth of a couple gigs/second. her sons made her own internet cable. The injustice is that she only uses it to read online news articles only, a 60 or 70 year old isnt going to be playin HALO or sumtin
Well that will take some time.. I got a buddy that is connected to a 1000Mbit line.
i dont think 1080 was even avaible on youtube back in 2007
not even 480p even altho im not certain of that
40 gigabit yesssssssss yesssssssss yesssssssss.
it depends on the server though.
So does everyone else internet ;)
You're not the only one.
i pay nearly 50 a month for a 768 line in west kentucky. tell me im not getting robbed.
@Cinj216 The ppl that plays wow at Dreamhack is called P12:or , the real gamers play real games
90 ms? what are you thinking with?
You are unlucky if you get 15ms to germany from dreamhack.
at&t is prob the best way to go for gaming or anything else for that matter. they offter the cheapest, and if you want even more quality they offer up to T3.
that internet connection is $4,600 per month
that'd be the funnest thing to go to
actually netindex isn't the only website that puts out average speeds and yours are definitely not average speed they're the highest speeds.
wow, i have a 10GBit/sec connection and it feels so smooth when gaming online. i couldn't even imagine...
Go to Dreamhack, torrent for an hour, don't have to torrent for a year.
so if what ur saying is correct then they are going in a rate of 40960mbps
"We are using a very advanced lazer Teknik"
@LynxAdvert 40 gigabit per second performance.you failed wow download in 2.5 sec xD
"oerughh its wonderful, aourhghr best thing ive ever playedhd with, argugh"
in 2018 they had 1.2 terabits.
a 75 years old swedish women has a 40gbps internet connection for herself and all she does is read newspapers.....it's like 5/6 gigabytes per seconds download speed, she can download a full HD movie in less than a second!!!
Australia is getting 100 gigabits persecond soon
Plays everything, even old flipper games:P
All the gamers who were interviewed are all like, fuck off, trying to play.
"the greatest i have ever played with" HAHAHAHAHA lol fan va lökigt.
yer u could but depens on the upload of the movie coz the download dont realy mater if the upload speed of the movie is slow like if the movie was uploaded at 1mbps and ur download is 99999999999999gbps it dont mater ur going 2 go at 1mbps
can afford that internet but not an HD camera?
