    My truck does this with a new air filter. Doesn't matter what brand. Oem, fram, k&n. The code stops coming up when your after is dirty. The only thing going on is that ram engineers can't get it right. It stopped for a year and then I put a new air filter in and it throws codes again every time I'm at low load. Freeze frame shows 30% throttle every time. The maf sees toouch air compared to the boost it sees. If you restrict the airflow your codes go away and don't come back. That glue isn't changing anything. Get the cheapest, lowest flowing air filter you can and your problem will go away. Then don't change the air filter. This POS Cummins hates maintenance. Change the oil and leave it alone.

      I can’t disagree. The tuning of this motor is not great . I suspect the maf placement is the issue .

      I also just put the Banks Monster intake on and also getting low boost code. I thought I would be helping the truck and now I get P0299. Should have left her stock.

    My truck just threw this code and I’m trying to figure out if it is safe
    To drive until I can get it in. Shop is booked for 3 weeks. I have had no loss of power and hasn’t gone in to limp mode at all.

    The air filter you used as the replacement is also not correct for the truck. Should be mopar 53034051AB or Fleetguard AF27684. Any filter, aftermarket or OEM, with glue strips can generate the P0299 code. Take a look at STAR case # S2018000007 REV. B

    This exact same thing happened to me after replacing the air filter with a popular auto parts store brand. My truck would go into limp mode and would have no power and I had a big 5th wheel on the truck at the time it started acting up. Long story short I exchanged it for the Wix filter and solved the problem.

    Don’t know much about vehicles. Had my 2020 HPFP replaced due to recall couple weeks ago. Went on a camping trip over the weekend and everything was fine. Driving home from work check engine light went on. This p0299 code came on. I vacuumed the air box but didn’t clear the code. Going to order a new one. Looking for some help on other things I can possible check??

    I ran a new K&N filter for 800 miles and got the P0299 code. I replaced it with an OEM Mopar air filter and the check engine light went away. Anyone else have a problem with K&N's?

    Figured out all I needed to do was take out mass airflow sensor, spray with appropriate cleaner, clear the code & no issues since!

    I have a 2020 Ram 2500 getting the P0299 fault. I'm assuming it has to do with the air filter. The engine light came right after the Cp4 fuel pump was replaced. I never had an air filter problem before that. Dealer told me I had an aftermarket air filter. I figured he must be right since I bought the truck used. Turned out it was a Mopar 53034051AB, probably original since there is only 16k miles on it. I replaced it anyway with a Mopar but it had the glue strips and again the dealer said that was a problem. They just replaced it with a 68517554AA filter but the engine light is back. Any ideas? A couple guys on a Ram forum say I need the AB Mopar filter. Dealer insists the AA is the right one.

      I LOOKED INTO PART NUMBERS AND 68517554AA IS USED ON 2023 RAM 2500 AND IT MAY WORK BETTER . I CALLED A DEALER AND HE SAID THEY USE 53034051AB . I WOULD SAY ITS A SOFTWARE ISSUE COMBINED WITH A AIR FILTER DESIGN . THEY ARE CHANGING SOFTWARE LAST I HEARD . EMAIL ME AT OCDAUTOMASTER@GMAIL.COM

    Interesting. Any idea what filters are causing this? I have a 2021 Ram 2500 w/ 23k miles. Just did my first air filter replacement. I went with a Wix. Drove no issues then I towed my trailer roughly 9k pounds. I drove about 30 miles and after making a left turn (not driving hard). CEL came on. Pulled the code when I got home and it’s the P0299. Cleared the code and went for test drive. So far, so good. Went into high boost and nothing. Thoughts?

    • @ocdauto8794
      @ocdauto8794  Год назад +1

      Software update to come is my thought . Many p0299 codes on a 3 year or newer truck are fixed with software modifications that a delaer can update via there cloud based scan tool called Witech .
