  • Happy spring equinox! Today's video is the third seasonal compilation from the year I spent documenting my slow and mindful nature walks. Watch as winter morphs into spring, the wild ponies shed their winter coats, the little birds return, and the world springs into life with blossom, flowers and sap green new growth.
Embracing nature walks is a slow, simple and mindful habit shift that anyone can make and I really do think it's one of those little changes that makes a world of difference to both your mental and physical health.
Putting your phone down and lacing up your shoes to go for a regular walk in a local park or wild space close to your home will help you slow down and notice as the seasons slowly change. It's a way to make time stop, if only briefly, and to take time out of a busy lifestyle so that you can relax. Listen to the birds sing, notice the way the wind feels on your face, and watch as the light changes throughout the seasons as the year moves around. Spring is a wonderful time of year to start this slow and mindful practice, and I hope this video inspires you to build a nature walk habit of your own.
This video is based on my microseasons project, which ran from May 2022 to May 2023. Inspired by the ancient Japanese tradition of dividing the year into 72 microseasons, each focused on something that's happening in the natural world, I documented the seasons as they came and went around me in Birmingham. Birmingham is a post-industrial city in the English Midlands, so my microseasons feature urban scenes like our iconic canals and brickwork factories, but also the parks and green spaces on the edge of the city, including Sutton Park in the north and the Lickey Hills to the south.
    The autumn compilation:
    • Quiet Autumn Nature Wa...
    The winter compilation:
    • Calm Winter Nature Wal...
    The full microseasons playlist:
    • Documenting the Season...
If you enjoyed this video, come and take a look at my other peaceful, seasonal, 'slow living' videos. Here on Eighteen and Cloudy I make nature vlogs and videos about the passing seasons, veganism, sustainability, heritage crafts, and my organic vegetable garden. They're all peaceful and relaxing, and I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy making them!

Thank you! I'm stubborn with seeing the series through to the end and share them knowing full well they never do as well as my other videos! It's lovely to hear you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making the original series and each of the seasonal compilations. Me too, I can't wait for it to be warm enough to wear shorts and dresses again. I feel like I've lived in the same outfit all winter!

@@EighteenandCloudy 😂😂I find it such a faff with scarf, hat, big coat, wheelchair blanket... Before you can go out half the day has gone! I am a hot weather girl, I have to agree with my family who think me moving to England was an ill match 😂😂😂But to be fair I have come to love it here, apart from the rain that is. Let's hope it's sunny and warmish soon xx

@@elodieleafhaha you're right there, it really is a faff having to prepare for all kinds of weather... Umbrella and sunglasses, extra layer just in case, and definitely something waterproof even if the forecast says 0% chance of rain! Fingers crossed the weather allows for some fuss free time outdoors soon!
