It is absolutely guaranteed that in the case you described , ie, if activists and common people were encountered and killed, there would be a huge push back from the entirety of society because the majority of people would be against the killing of "mostly" innocent people. That is also why this type of justice is only useful against massive organized crime syndicates, which was proved by the Mumbai underworld extinction. It won't help to solve petty and sporadic crime, nor should it be because then the consequences will definitely outweigh the benefits.

Problem with the justice system is that it doesn’t differentiate between criminal and hardened criminal until first conviction. So in cases like Atiq Ahmed that first conviction is so hard to achieve.

When even judges are scared to hear the case, you know it's time to go extra judicial. Look at Mumbai, everything went back to normal after the threat was over, and police only encounters when there is public approval for it, so I'm not worried about long term damage. Until judicial reforms

This is not just common in India. Like Ripudaman Singh Malik, who plotted Air India 182 bombing was killed in Canada. He was let go by Canadian courts due to lack of evidence and murder/threats given to witnesses. He was shot last year in Canada, even large section of the white Canadians were applauding the shooter. I never visited UP since 2013, I was in class 8 , lost father in 2004 who was serving Indian army due to some accident . In 2013, we shifted to Pune due to terror by his men even after filing FIR and giving notices to District Magistrate we didn't get any justice. My mother told me that we are moving for better future but we moved within a single night. One of Atiq's men came on 6th October and gave 3 tickets of Pune and asked us to leave home as soon as possible otherwise other men of his side will come and kill us next morning even asked us not to complaint anywhere otherwise we will be get kidnapped. That was the most horrified night for us. Currently I can proudly say that my eleder brother is serving army in 16th LIGHT CAVALRY regiment as Caption now. He was in IMA 2016-2020. I'm also preparing for CDS. I'm just giving my perspective why I liked his killing not justifying those 3 nonsense kids who killed him just for fame. Hope you all will understand us. JAI HIND

I agree that this type of instant killing may be sometimes harmful (especially when the accused is actually innocent). It's like taking judiciary in your hand & not actually improving the real judicial system of INDIA. Hi everybody I am from UP. In my opinion there are two problems -first is the awareness and education among people regarding their rights and second is the slowness of judicial system. As it is mentioned in the video that it will take 324 years to solve the pending cases and there is a lot of vacancy for the lawyers, but my point is why are we not able to fill those vacancies if we are having a large and young population. Why our educational institutes not producing good and honest lawyers and judges, so that they can solve the cases in less time? In this scenario, if a person with over 100 cases and that too of heinous crimes is killed by some people, then isn't it okay? And if you look at the death of Atiq, then it is a complete failure from the police point of view. So the problem is holistic and not just one. These are my personal opinions. Point to be noted is that extra judicial encounter system is executed only on very high profile cases where the criminals are much more powerful than the justice system itself. We know how our judicial system works and it would take them more than a century to convict a criminal. When 11 judges refused to hear Atiq's case from fear of Atiq Ahmed, the court and judicial system got shut down from that day. That's why Mumbai police did so many encounters and now Mumbai is free of crime. Now in this Yogi government, if up police is given freedom of encounters then you'll see how up changes. Yogiji is now doing that. When justice and court fails to give justice to the innocents then encounter and killing of these wanted criminals is the last thing to give justice to the innocents.

You have all facts that how encounters are not good for long run but unfortunately no facts on what are the impacts on that family who have suffered from this. It is very easy to say that mai bhi badla le sakta tha but cant feel the pain of that family. I never visited UP since 2013, I was in class 8 , lost father in 2004 who was serving Indian army due to some accident . In 2013, we shifted to Pune due to terror by his men even after filing FIR and giving notices to District Magistrate we didn't get any justice. My mother told me that we are moving for better future but we moved within a single night. One of Atiq's men came on 6th October and gave 3 tickets of Pune and asked us to leave home as soon as possible otherwise other men of his side will come and kill us next morning even asked us not to complaint anywhere otherwise we will be get kidnapped. That was the most horrified night for us. Currently I can proudly say that my eleder brother is serving army in 16th LIGHT CAVALRY regiment as Caption now. He was in IMA 2016-2020. I'm also preparing for CDS. I'm just giving my perspective why I liked his killing not justifying those 3 nonsense kids who killed him just for fame. Hope you all will understand us.

I agree that this type of instant killing may be sometimes harmful (especially when the accused is actually innocent). It's like taking judiciary in your hand & not actually improving the real judicial system of INDIA.
But on the other hand, it's a different scenario in case of these Bahubalis' like atiq ahmed who are clearly guilty & must be sentenced to death for their disgusting crimes.

I am from UP. In my opinion there are two problems -first is the awareness and education among people regarding their rights and second is the slowness of judicial system. As it is mentioned in the video that it will take 324 years to solve the pending cases and there is a lot of vacancy for the lawyers, but my point is why are we not able to fill those vacancies if we are having a large and young population. Why our educational institutes not producing good and honest lawyers and judges, so that they can solve the cases in less time?
In this scenario, if a person with over 100 cases and that too of heinous crimes is killed by some people, then isn't it okay?
And if you look at the death of Atiq, then it is a complete failure from the police point of view. So the problem is holistic and not just one.
These are my personal opinions. I apologize if anybody is hurt.

Point to be noted is that extra judicial encounter system is executed only on very high profile cases where the criminals are much more powerful than the justice system itself. We know how our judicial system works and it would take them more than a century to convict a criminal. One or two odd cases should not be depicted as actual way of how justice system works in our nation. Yeh dar barkaraar rehna chahiye!!

The legal system itself has hundreds of loopholes. And these criminals and politicians use it intelligently. So i think sometimes instead of using the justice system to punish these criminals, tough actions are needed. And in the case of Atiq Ahmed, they say we should have used the justice system but would it be justice to the people of the family who had died, Harassed and what not?
