I am so glad you did this as I have been wanting to get a gel plate but they are so expensive! Now I don't need one 😀 Thanks heaps Nina 💮🌼🦋
Glad this was helpful Sophie. Monoprinting is a lot of fun 💕
Wonderful Nina. We really don’t need to buy every product out there, like I’m always inclined to do. 👏🏼❤️
Thanks Dawn. I can honestly say I had just as much fun Monoprinting this was as I do with my Gel Plate 💕
Jumbo storage bag with a towel wrapped rigid surface (cardboard etc.) makes a great diy printing surface. The towel gives it some cushion and the cardboard makes it easy to move. Great for printing larger papers or fabric. Aloha :)
Fabulous way to mono print without a geli plate. I love your cards you created Nina! Thank you for sharing this technique. Xx
Thanks so much Rosie, glad you enjoyed it 💕
This is exactly what I was hoping to find! Wonderful!!! Off to do some print-making 🙂 I've added your video to my ART playlist so I can come back to it again and again!
Thanks Mary, glad this has given you some ideas. Happy Creating 💕
Hello Nina, Lovely cards. Happy to see you used some of the butterflies I sent you. Have a lovely day!
Thanks for sending them to me Laura. They look so pretty on the cards 🦋🦋🦋
Great idea using plexiglass! Prints looked good!
Wonderful! :)
You opened the door for me-who was pouting because I can’t afford a gelli plate right now and really want to do this. Many Thanks!
Oh that’s lovely to hear. I can honestly say I had just as much fun printing without a commercial gel plate. It’s always fun improvising. Happy Creating 💕
Awesome! Thanks so much Nina!! Keep the videos rolling 😁🙏
I love these prints and the cards are stunning. I especially like the butterfly cards. Thanks for sharing nina your art is amazing xx
Thanks Lesley. Monoprinting is such fun, even without a commercial plate 💕
Good morning nina, a funny thing happened just now. I had put my mobile down, to get me a cup of coffee and my own " louis" was standing on the table, following your video, so funny., so two subscribers in one( ha ha). Monoprinting is great fun, surprising and the beginning of new projecrs. Loved yours and the cards looked great. Hope you will have a good week and stay safe, love lena xxxx
They look amazing. I like the feather . The butterflys look very good on the prints.
Thanks Jane, the feather is my favourite too 💕
I absolutely love how you mounted the prints!
Thank you so much ❤️
Those parts of the feather vane are called barbs. Your mono prints are wonderful, love the dark feather on the turquoise. Very interesting how the pressure on stencils make the paint form a pattern that doesn’t always show up until you pull the print after you remove the paint the first time. Great results, and I can see that I’m going to wind up with quite a collection of prints, which will be great for the stash.
Thanks Ellie, I couldn’t for the life of me think what they were called!
Wow what a good idea, and those cards you made, are absolutely stunning 😍💜🧚♀️
Thank you. You’ll have to try it as it was such a lot of fun 💕
Amazing printings. The cards ideas are very impressive. Regards from Sydney. Australia.
Thank you so much Paulisa 💕
The cards are wonderful!… mmmmm...you have to move fast she says 🙈😂 Lol x
My goodness Nina some of the results you got are gorgeous and better than I have ever done on my Gel plate. I must admit I have never got on with the thing and it languishes at the back of a cupboard somewhere but I admire your expertise xx
Thanks so much Rita. The Gel plate does take a bit of getting used to, and the hardest thing is figuring out how much paint to use. Persevere though as they are a lot of fun . I hope you’ll give this method a try 💕🦋
Oh my goodness, how cool! I sure appreciate seeing this technique! I love these ideas for texture making.
I've been here✔....the marathon 💛🐝⚠
Thank you... you make painting more accessible.
Printing, not painting.
I knew I didn't have to go buy a gel plate ☺ Thanks to Kylie for share leading me here and to her video also. I think I will play a bit this afternoon ☺♥
I love the results I got without a plate. Hope you had a fun session 💕
Looks like you had lots of fun making your prints Nina and it goes to show we don't 'need' the expensive stuff! Love the results you got and the cards at the finish are beautiful.
Thanks Jackie I did and it was just as much fun as using a commercial Gel Plate 💕
Wonderful ideas - that’s for sharing!
So many lovely prints…
I had forgotten how fun monoprinting is; thank you for this video and reinspiring me, Nina. I'll be looking for more and more of your videos.
Thank you so much, and I hope you find more fun ideas 💕
Stunning with so many possibilities. 😊 thank you!
Thanks Josie 💕
I love it with or without a gel plate, loved the feather that came out so lovely and the leaves too... Hours of fun 😊😊💖🍁🌿
You really can while away the hours Monoprinting and I have a lovely stash of interesting papers to use up now 💕🍂
Lovely cards Nina. I have a gel plate and hardly use it, but I am going to dust it off now and give these backgrounds a go. 😘
Happy Creating 💕
Thanks for sharing this great idea. You are so creative - and such wonderful results
Thanks Larry, glad you enjoyed it 💕
Beautiful cards!
I knew if I held out from buying a gel plate long enough you would show me an idea of how to print without one! And here it is with lovely results and the cages are great. The feather one is my favourite. Thanks for the video Nina, have a good week 💕💫
I can honestly say I had just as much fun Monoprinting this way as with my commercial plate. I hope you’ll give it a try. Happy Creating 💕 xo
Very interesting... thankyou..best wishes for your work.
Regards from India ❤❤❤
THANKS NINA, OFTEN WISHED HAD A JELLY PLATE, BUT NOW BECAUSE OF YOU, I CAN DO THIS BEAUTIFUL.
💜 CAMILLE 🇦🇺
Thanks Camille. It’s just as much fun without a Gel Plate. Enjoy 💕

Thanks Susie, it was a lot of fun 💕 x
I love experimenting, too, to learn what works and what doesn't. You made some beautiful and interesting backgrounds. It was great fun that you used so many different textures. Your cards are gorgeous! I love how you put them together. Thanks for sharing!
Oh what fun! So inspiring 😊
Such a lovely cards Nina!
Thanks Yvonne 💕
A great tutorial Nina .. monoprinting in your hands looks great fun . Love the two cards especially the feather card . Thank you . Have a great week. Kay x
Thanks Kay, it really was a lot of fun. Hope you have a lovely week too 💕
What absolute fun Nina!
Thanks Christina, it really is 💕🦋💕
love the prints Nina...I saw a tutorial (sorry forgotten who)with leaves & feathers veins down, hinged the paper with tape, pulled 1st print, lifted leaves & took 2nd print with same paper & makes a beautiful monoprint because it prints the veins & leaf shape into blank area of 1st print.
Thanks Jenny, I have found it and will give this another try as I love the results I got from the leaves and feather 💕
This is perfect! I was just trying to explain using a Gel Plate with a dear friend in Poland last month. We will be crafting today using FaceTime. I love this because she can now try out without buying an expensive plate. Supplies are not always easy for her to get. The cards are gorgeous!!!! Thank you, than you! Posted and shared with a friend! God bless and stay safe.
I’m glad this was helpful Evelyn. I had just as much fun Monoprinting this was as I do with my Gel Plate. I hope you both have a fun and creative session together. Happy Creating and thanks as always for sharing 💕 x
These are so fun! I was thinking some people might gave ceramic or tile pot mats as well. I love all of these and especially the metallics. Take care and stay crafty Nina!
A ceramic tile is a great idea Laura. Thanks for suggesting it 💕
VERY inspirational !!!!!!!!!
YEAH! Thank you!
Another good thing to use is eyelash wool. I bought some but found it really difficult to knit with, so I've repurposed it and use it in Gelli printing.
Brilliant idea, I have some too 💕
That’s amazing. I don’t have a jelli plate but I always enjoy watching what can be done with it so this is a wonderful alternative. Thanks so much for showing us these options! 🥰🤗
Thanks Kathryn, I hope you’ll give it a try 💕🦋💕
Thank you so much 😊 Nina. I really really love 💕 those prints, they made fantastic cards. I always go to watch Kylie after you. I really really love 💕 this Sunday morning treat!!!!! Now two fold. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Thanks so much Mags. Glad you are enjoying Kylie’s ideas as well. Take care 💕 xxx
Thank you. Just what I needed. These worked very well indeed.🌸🌸🌸
Thanks so much Annie 💕
This is an awesome idea tfs Nina...Kia Kaha...
You got some great prints and the card are excellent. Another great video.
Thanks so much Martin. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Happy Creating 💕
The cards you made are stunning! Another great technique.
Beautiful!!
I enjoyed that very much
Your cards turned out fantastic. Fun prints, now I want to try this.
Happy Creating 💕
Love the leaf! 🍃
Thank you 💕
Great idea Nina. Love the cards you made. Thanks for sharing 💗
Thanks Steph. It felt good to get in a painty mess 💕
What a great idea, will definitely try this!
Thanks Irene. Happy Creating 💕
I made my own geli plates. ingredients were inexpensive and easy to make. I’ll share the recipe and instructions or find the link, if you’d like. But you have shared an abundance of thing# to use which wonderfully and creatively will be great tools to make monoprints. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for your kind comment. I made a homemade gel plate several years ago and I can honestly say I prefer it to my commercial ones as it’s stickier and I find it easier to pull the prints. The ingredients are quite expensive here in the U.K. though. Today’s method is a very quick and instant way to monoprint with things that everyone will have on hand 💕
Nina Ribena , yes, thanks for sharing that, we don’t have to go out and buy supplies but be creative like you show. Great prints!
I just watched Kylie Coo do this. It looks fun.
Thank you. It is and it’s highly addictive too 💕
loved the feather and the leaves...I use a silicone mat am thinking of trying to make my own gelli plate but haven't plucked up the courage yet. I thought those circular silicone mats you used might have been jam jar openers I have one somewhere!!. Silicone kitchen accessories are great for mark making . Thanks Nina have a great day
Thanks Christie, using a silicone mat is a great idea. The silicone coasters I used could well be jam jar openers. I have both a homemade gel plate and a couple of commercial ones and I actually prefer my homemade one as it is stickier. You should definitely try making your own 💕
I think the silicone mats might be for making impressions in fondant.
This was really interesting! Lovely results!
Thank you 💕
Lovely job! Such a mixture of brilliant ideas to get us motivated! Thanks again nina!
Thank Ann, glad you enjoyed it 💕
What gorgeous results. Thanks so much. .
Thanks Elizabeth, it was fun exploring non traditional, alternative tools 💕
Pretty cool, I’ll have to try this, I’ve not invested in a gel plate yet but have it on my wish list. Thank you❣️
By the way, I enjoyed watching all your different techniques.
Happy Creating 💕
I do have tin foil in my art area and sponges. I try what I can do with that. The video was really inspirational.
I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. Happy Creating 💕
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia Thank you!
Gorgeous cards!
Thanks Emm 💕
Giving this a shot! !! 💖💖💖🌹🤓
Happy Creating 💕
These are gorgeous, will definitely have a go as I don’t have a gelli plate, thank you so much for sharing! Keep safe,Laura xx
Thanks Nina, I love mono printing. I just gave in and bought my gel plate with gift money and I have prints everywhere, thanks for the inspiration on what to do with them and other things to try. Have an awesome week.

Wow Wonderful..
Gorgeous!

Love this Nina! Amazing what you have done with random shapes and tools!
This was great. I can't spend on extra materials, but I can do it with what I have and your ideas. Thank you!
Thanks Liz, I hope you’ll give it a try 💕🦋
What an interesting video, Nina. I absolutely love what you have done and the resulting cards are gorgeous. I'm going to have fun with this technique. Many thanks as ever.
These are fabulous! Love the butterfly ones and the leaves! Definitely going to try this today, hope I have better luck than I did with the wax resist!
Thanks Alicia, it’s such a lot of fun 💕
Great results Nina and I love the cards that you created
Thanks Kylie. I had a blast with this 💕 xo
Thank you! ❤
Gorgeous!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Cindi 💕
Love this idea your experimenting was fun to watch and the cards are beautiful, I am so inspired to give this a go.thank you x
Thank you for sharing
Beautiful 🤩🤩
Thank you so much 💕
Love these, great inspiration for me, as i am budget conscious and need to consider every purchase carefully. TFS, really gorgeous results, love the cards
Excellent
Absolutely stunning results and you've made wonderful cards from them. I bought a gel plate for £24.99 and I've used it twice, I can't seem to get the darn thing to work properly, I've tried different paints and differing amounts of paints, all to no avail, so will definitely have to have a go following your fabulous instructions. Tfs xo
Thanks Elizabeth. I do love my Gel Plate, but I had just as much fun doing Monoprinting this way. I found when my plate was brand new, it was very slippery and the prints didn’t seem to stick to the paper very well, is this what you mean when you say it’s not working properly? 💕 xo
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia Thnx for getting back to me Nina, yes, the paint stayed on the gel plate and not much on the paper, then it dried on the plate, I just got fed up with it lol. xo
Gel Plates do take a bit of getting used to. You will be able to pull off all that dried on paint by applying a thin layer of any light colour paint. Then pop your paper down and make sure you rub it firmly. When you pull the paper off you will have all the dried layers showing through which looks amazing. Kate Crane shows the technique brilliantly in this video here at 4 mins 20 secs ruclips.net/video/rFqYNQyxirg/видео.html
I really enjoyed watching your process and learned a lot from it! Thank You!
Thanks nice to know. Thank you 💕
wow, looks great! thanks for the tutorial, i will be trying this with my grandkids! much love!
-dylan :)
Thanks so much Dylan. I’m sure your grandkids will love this and you’ll be able to keep them entertained for hours. Happy Creating 💕
Fun, as always, Nina. Did I just miss it, or did you not say what kind of paper you used to pull your prints? Is it just regular copier paper? Did you try turning your stencil over and pulling a print from the back? It looked like there must have been a good amount of paint there based on the great print you pulled from the plate. Have a great week!
Thanks Kathy, I just used regular cheap copier paper 💕
Hi, I've only just discovered your site and love these 'jelly' plate ideas. You mentioned happy mail, what is this?
These are absolutely gorgeous Nina , you have a lovely style ,,,. I have a set of three different shapes of gelli plates and had them about 3 or 4 years and haven’t used them yet , it would be lovely to get a few ideas using these ,,,,!!! I know on this prompt not to use gelli plates ,, but just thought I’d ask? If ever you do use them ,,,. Thanks for a great video,,,xxxxx 🌸🌈👏💕😊
Thanks so much for your kind words Annie. You should dig your Gel plates out and give them a try as it’s such a lot of fun. I have a Playlist you can watch here which may give you some more ideas 💕 ruclips.net/p/PLa4DmufZajsZFSeoUKSIUaavJuckQzYEo
Love this it's so pretty 🦋 if I won't to make a bigger page how would I do it.
Thanks Cynthia. To make larger pages you simply need to use a larger surface to pull your print. I hope that helps💕
