What lovely pieces you got from your experiments. Sometimes it’s just good to sit down and play without any expectations of what will happen. Thanks Nina 💕💫
Thank you so much Nina, that’s really really awesome 😎 I really really love 💕 the results you got absolutely fantastic. When I get time between handmade cards I’m going to try this out. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags. We couldn’t do without you that’s for sure
What interesting effects you get with these techniques. The way the colors play together is quite something. And the journal pages that you made are stunning. Thanks for sharing!
Oh these are fabulous, I especially loved the 2nd bombay inks one... Probably the colours but the wiping away of the white made it look awesome.... Now my workshop bench is cleared I'm hoping to do more experimenting as I have the huge bench to work on.... Just gotta rig up my phone for filming now😁😁😁😁 so happy I finished it yesterday... Bit pooped but I can now play once again 😁😁😁😁😜💖
I’m so glad you’ve got your workshop cleared. Well done you ❤️. I need a major clear out of my craft room, but it will put me out of action for a couple of weeks so I keep putting it off. In all honesty I don’t know where to start! I hope you’ll give this a try. I want to do the same technique on the other Tate boards as these make the most fabulous backgrounds for other projects and I want to experiment more with the wiping away technique too. Have a fabulous week 💕💕💕
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia oh no I've only cleared the bench the boxes are all stacked behind me, finishing the revamp is phase 2 and 3 😜😜😂😂😂 I will only be showing my cleared bench to use... You won't see the rest of the room that's a long way off being done. I've got many hobbies all in there that I can't really do the whole workshop yet.... This covid has mucked up so much stuff this year for us.... 😩😩😩 I'm just pleased to be able to use my bench now. Hope you can get your craftroom sorted out... Have a fun week creating xx 💖💖
Haha, thanks Carol, it’s very addictive and I’ve made a few more since playing around with removing the paint and adding more layers. I absolutely love the patterns you get 💕
I especially love the Tate cards. Some look very impressionistic. I remember the first time I ever saw alcohol on watercolor was when you were on vacation in Spain (I think). I just loved those pieces you created! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us. Blessings to you, Nina.
Nina, this was fun to watch and you got some wonderful backgrounds. I know what I will be trying when I get off work this afternoon. Thanks so much, have a great week.
I love this technique! I have done this with alcohol, but never with many layers before. I’ll have to experiment with this. This technique works nicely with Starburst sprays but you can’t layer them because they reactivate with the next layer. I suppose you could use fixative between layers, though. Thanks for inspiring us.
Proof again that life is full of possibilities!!! Love the results and your pages. I wonder now if my Dr. Martin Inks are hydra. My results are never like yours. That will be the first think I check! Thank you for encouraging me to feel free to experiment! TFS. I did. God bless and stay safe.
This is one if my fave techniques to do! I first saw Lorri Marie Jenkins do it and was hooked! It’s so exciting isn’t it? I saw Andy Skinner’s vid too. You got some really good results,Nina. So pretty. Tfs. Hugs, Dee xxx💖💖💖
Thanks Dee, I haven’t seen Lorrie Marie’s video, but I saw Andy Skinners a few years ago and loved it. It want to try it again using my FW acrylic inks as the Bombay inks worked beautifully. Its so addictive! Thanks for watching Dee. Hugs 💕 xxx
I’ve come a little late to the party but these are just gorgeous Nina I really love them. For us U.K. people, Amazon do 100% isopropyl alcohol if anyone wants some xx
Good morning nina, like you I sometimes overthink while I am creating and with techniques like this you just have to wait and see. Well not entirely true, you choose the colours and you are good at this. The nice thing is, that the results are inspiring and ideas come up right away and then your"thinking cap" is in order. Thanks for mentioning that nailpolishremover will also do the job, since I haven no prosomething alcohol......Have a good week nina, love lena xxx
Good morning Lena. I’m find the quicker you work with these kinds of things, the better the results as you don’t overthink it as much. I hope acetone nail polish will work, I have not tried it, but seem to remember someone saying it works. Surgical spirits regular rubbing alcohol will definitely work for this. Have a creative week and take care. Hugs 💕 xxx
Oh boy, this is going to be fun! I have some experience with these techniques but I just love those postcards, just the right type of surface I think. So many options to play with! Love your results!💕🇨🇦
I use 300 lbs watercolour paper Nina and with that the paper stays wet for much longer and you can get a more pleasing result when using watercolour paint and salt.
Love this! I’m going to have a play with this today... in fact... (pause) ... right now... I stopped commenting in order to gather my supplies to check out this fun technique. I remember those art journal layouts and used to try to follow along with you. I loved filling my 8x8 black journal which was my first completed journal. I’m still creating art journal layouts in various sizes but I haven’t gotten into junk journals or other mixed media projects although I am hoping to create a grouping of small 8” canvases for the wall I look at the most. I recently resubscribed to your channel which was how I saw this video. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us and have a great day! 🙂
I love your experiments, I had a go last time you did something like this, but it didn't turn out half as good as yours. You produced some lovely colour combos. Tfs xo
Very exciting prompt this week! Can’t wait to experiment yet again! I will be googling chemical reactions (fumes, effect on paper, etc) if I venture outside what you and Kylie have used in your videos...I have an idea, but want to make sure it’s safe to use with art supplies and whether it affects the paper’s longevity! Thanks again for a new challenge. 💕 PS. I’ve been working on most of the prompts (RRR and dendritic) but have found little time to take pictures...lol...how do you manage to make so many great videos! My hat goes off to you and Kylie for all that you do to make this group such a success! ❤️😀
Through my experiments, I have found that acrylics need to be diluted pretty heavily and the alcohol should be 91% or more, for the best results. Also, the watercolor & salt reaction works best if the watercolor paints are still damp, but not so wet that there are puddles. Larger salt particles like from pink salt, or rock salt have given me some really pretty results. Hope this helps anyone watching after 2 years later! 😉
Hello Nina, I'm writing this before watching your video because I don't want to forget. I realized I haven't been getting videos from you or anyone else that I subscribe to for at least a month, maybe longer. I have no idea why since I have double checked to make sure I am still subscribed and that the bell is set to all. Do you think it is a You Tube problem? Thank you for any help or suggestions you can give me.
Morning Karen. Thanks for your message. RUclips have stopped sending email notifications as they claim that only 1% of people were reading them. This is having a huge effect on viewing numbers. There are a couple of things you can try. Firstly try unsubscribing from my channel and then subscribing again, remembering to click the bell notification. This might reset things. There is also a video here that explains how you can reinstate settings here. I hope this helps and would appreciate you letting me know if it does 💕 ruclips.net/video/HVvX_M56zFo/видео.html

The smell of surgical spirit reminds me of when I got my ears pierced. As Tim Holtz always says when asked if something might work - just try it, it is only paper!
So fun and interesting. I have both alcohol and acetone on hand... have a wonderful week!
So many different results. They all look so great. And so simple.
What a fabulous experiment! Thank you for showcasing some great techniques!
The red toned one you love reminds me of a field of poppies. They are all very lovely.

Very interesting I wonder what happens if you spray alcohol instead of sprinkling by the brush. Thanks for sharing.
I’m not sure, but I will try it the next time I try this technique 💕
For the alcohol inks on water colours on water colour paper it may be best to seal the paper first with gloss medium
when i use plain water on my watercolors i get this result i do get blooms but i love the look
Interesting results with the different paints and layering 😁.Was using rock salt last night on watercolour 😆X

You can use this layer technique with watercolor IF you use Dewent Inktense watercolors. They are permanent once dry. You can buy blocks and pencils.
Beautiful results! Love the pages. Will you do something with them next week?
It only works if you use gesso?
Bellissime, posso sapere quale prodotto c'è nel flaconcino spray?
The spray bottle has plain tap water in it and it is used to thin the paint down. Hope that helps 💕
Will this work on wood
Wood is porous, and so the paint would sink in and not spread. However it may work if you prime the wood with gesso first. Hope this helps
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia Thanks! 😀

As Tim Holtz always says when asked if something might work - just try it, it is only paper!
And for the prices he sells his papers he always gets a dollar sign in his eyes when he tells people, "it's just paper."
You need to use MUCH more water. The acrylics should be almost transparent and wet when sprinkling alcohol
