I built my new PC when 8th gen first came out. A year later and most of the components are half the price 🤦♂️. My i3-8100 is still a 4-core monster though!

2022 dude here: My friend has an HP laptop that uses an i3 8100, and the cpu almost never dips below 50% usage. When he tries to play Minecraft, he gets 30 fps with optifine lowest settings, and when he tries to load a dimension he crashes and has to rejoin a few times for it to load. Maybe it was good back then, but don't get it in 2022 (the laptop is like 300-400 dollars, by the way)
The i3 8100 hovers at 120-140, but in that price range you can sometimes find r5 1600, 1600x, and in rare occasions r5 2600 (also the r7 1700 is 150 on newegg on occasion) or you can get used cpus off craigslist, I scored a great deal on an 1800x with mobo, ram, and watercooler for 370 (goes for 650 plus)
i have i3 8100, but the thing is..... i got GT710 as the GPU 🙏, and i have 4 Gb RAM and a 1Tb HDD, for gaming purposes it can only run minecraft and roblox, and i in productivity side i did a liquid simulation render of 160frames, like 5 sec clip, it took me 13hrs ☠
Good vid, but kinda hard to listen to your voice. The start of every sentence is fine but at the end all you use is vocal fry and it sounds like ned from southpark. Not meant in a mean way. Just observing

@@jaimdiojtar depends on what cpu you have but sounds like the cpu aint underperforming i would get a 144hz screen , but this is the thing those 144 screens cost a ton of money and you wont be able to maintain 144 in most games . but still you could enjoy a better refresh rate if you run games stable at 100fps. its just not that groundbreaking but there is a difference noticeable. personally i would try to wait a bit for technology and prices to catch up.
hey should i upgrade the processor first or upgrade the ram for dual channel ? my system use this cpu and gtx 1060 with 8gb ram have the gaming result not even close with yours

i recently upgraded from 8 to 16gb .. really not much difference except now being able to open chrome browser and play without hurting the game , and some games with really big maps do run better as in less lag but not more frames . performance does not go up with more ram but stability does
2200G is better IMHO. As a CPU, it can clock and tweak to win despite the small IPC difference. It also has a good iGPU and is lower in price and has a bigger upgrade path. And even stock to stock it isnt much slower.
I actually have a GTX 1660 paired with this thing, I don't see anything bad happening, nothing crashes, it sometimes doesn't get you the top tier frame rate you expect but it's still very playable nonetheless.
Thats clearly other parts lagging, I use i3-8100 paired with 1050ti with 8GB Ram, and my PC runs really smooth. Yeah the iGPU UHD630 might fell a bit laggy on browsers or general windows 10 usage but only when compared to a dedicated GPU
Dude some games uses more than 8gb ram and very few games uses nearly 16gb ram. Having 32gb will not give any higher fps. Just good for multi tasking and ram demanding softwares

Dotaro The Great i I was just saying even 16gb is enough for high end build, 8gb ram will still be good for mid range, my point of my first comment was using higher than 16gb ram would saw no advantage in today’s games (you would see same performance in 16 and 32gb ram but dual channel ram is faster than single channel)

I3's are underrated sure they are less powerful than their counterparts l, but they do pack a punch especially i3 6100 and up
Especially if you’re using optimized programs. You can do quite a bit with an 8100.

Sure, if you're using built in graphics, but paired with a gpu I'd imagine this thing still performs (within reason).

Its pretty good, 60C at full load with stock cooler, ambient temp is 32C
