    4 Cores, 8 Threads, Boost up to 4,5 Ghz. This is entry level today. Just imagine - a few years back, exactly this was top of the notch. My i7 7700K is literally the same specs, only that it is 14nm and not 10nm.

  • @downundergarage6968
    @downundergarage6968 Год назад +56

    The reason why you are seeing slightly higher performance on 13100 is that it boosts to 4.5ghz Vs 4.4ghz in the 12300. As stated below it's exactly same CPU as 12th gen, so intel could have called it 12350. But they called it 13100 to capitalise on the launch of proper 13th gen parts. The general public needs to be more educated on this fact.

    • @TileBitan
      @TileBitan Год назад +12

      the fact of the matter is that intel delivered on this gen an excellent product lineup for most people: 13100, 13400, 13500. I find it less confusing that they use a newer gen, as long as they always state that the product is basically an improved alder lake, which they are doing. People are sleeping on the low end, and AMD hasnt delivered anything near intel's level in decades because their architecture starts scaling well in +6-8 core configurations

  • @TheSpotify95
    @TheSpotify95 Год назад +185

    Nice, that's pretty solid performance there, it's remarkable to see how the i3's have evolved over the years. A few years ago, the i3's with 2 cores and 4 threads would never have performed anywhere near like this level. Even older i7 CPU's with 4 cores and 8 threads were nowhere near this level of performance.
    I look forward to your 13400F video in the future, as I remember that you praised the 12th gen i3's and i5's regarding their performance. I would use one of these CPU's myself if budget was a limiting factor (but I'm going to use the i9-13900K when I build a PC).

I canceled the install and tried again after installing a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 and it hovered at 53C, never got about 57C, and of course never throttled. The stock cooler is garbage.

      10100/10100F is still decent but you have to lower the settings on some games to maintain 60 FPS, Elden Ring in particular seems to be very demanding on the CPU on anything higher than the medium preset for some reason and you definitely won't maintain 60 on Cyberpunk 2077 unless crowd density/slow HDD mode is set to low/on.
      The IPC increase in 12th/13th-gen i3s is pretty insane and IMO will keep running newer games at high settings + 60 FPS for years to come.

    Well I built my 12100F system in 2022 February and kept my GTX 1070 at the time and only managed to upgrade to a second hand 3060 Ti in 2022 September.
    For me this pairing is about right since I play on a 2560x1080 Ultrawide monitor tho only 75 Hz/FPS capped at the refresh rate.
    I don't play competitive games at all and in singleplayer games I just crank the settings up and this way I'm still most of the time GPU limited at 95-99% usage, currently playing Cyberpunk with the Digital Foundry's tweaked settings + RT Reflections/Lights on Ultra with DLSS Quality between 50-60 fps on average which is enough for me in singleplayer games.
    At some point I might upgrade to a 13400F but for now I have no need for it to be honest as it runs everything I'm playing or planning to play/backlog games.

    Given that you can get a Ryzen 4500 with 6 cores and 12 threads for $70 brand new (or 5500 for under $100) it seems like a hard sell to buy 13th gen Intel unless going with DDR5. And then it's unlikely you'd opt for a 13100. We just have a lot of really great performing budget options at the moment. - Might make a good video.
