Thats such a good deal, its sitting at 80 usd right now.... bout to pick it up and add more life to an old X470 build I got with a way to slow 2200g inside and r9 fury.
@@vihangatck I replaced my mums i5 4590 with it and its WAY faster in every way, and more than ample for everything this side of high end gaming. The i5 was still running fine honestly, but I wanted to bring her PC up to date with Windows 11.
If both CPUs are the same price where you live, you'd be crazy to go for the 10100F over the 4500. Not only does the 4500 give you two more cores, it can also use fast RAM on a budget motherboard AND it can be upgraded to a next-generation CPU while using that same motherboard.
The 10100F can be upgraded as for as the 10900K or 11900K, which is still quite good. It's no 5950X or 5800X3D, but the upgrade path isn't dead. Imo the best upgrade for it on a budget motherboard is the 11600K or the 11700(non-k).
Both are great CPUs for the money. I don't have any experience with the 4500 but I set my parents up with a SFF HP desktop with an i3 10100 in it. For their uses it's been fantastic! I was surprised at how capable that CPU is for a 4c/8t unit.
@@FingalPersson I also gamed with the i7 3770 for many years. Replaced it with a R5 3600 about 2 years ago and was very happy with the boost in performance. The i7 still lives on with my old GTX 1060 as a living room emu PC running Recalbox that does everything from the PS2/GameCube era and before no problem.
@@Choralone422 mine had 1070 :P And i had it on a Z77 motherboard from msi. I held on to it until very late 2021, then i upgraded to an i7-10700k which i now have clocked at 5.2Ghz and it does amazingly 13k points at R23. I also early 2022 bought a i9-11900K which is good but i regret not buying a 12900k or 13900k since they just have a TON more of performance, especially at workstation as well as gaming. So my streamer pc as ha total worth of about 4000 USD and my gamer pc is about 10.000,- USD. included in the prices on both streamer pc and gamer pc each are accessories such as keyboard, mouse and 1 monitor (1440p for the streamer and 2160p for the gamer) 165hz and 144hz. one wires headset, one wireless headset, and the streamer pc has a dedicated studio mic. I did play warzone on the Haswell chip, and it's actually a pretty good chip for it's age. But nothing compared to now a days! I did try some 4k video editing on the 3770, it works, but it takes a good while to render with it, so that was the main reason for my upgrade. Now tho that i've build 12 and 13900k for buddies, i do want those too :P but man i am not filthy rich and the pc already cost me hunger and down prioritizing to get it so Maybe in a year or so when im ready to bleed for the upgrade i'll do, but if you look at the prices, a Z790 motherboard has the cost of half a build 10 years ago, then you add the ram, then you almost have a fullbuild 10 years ago... You add the PSU and you are now where you were 10 years ago for a complete build with a 80s card from Nvidia. Haddrives aren't and should never be very expensive. But then you add your AIO and now you are at a price for a top build 10 years ago, with a titan card inside. But we aren't done yet are we..? Cases are found both cheap and expensive, Fans much the same ( oh tho i think non rgb fans have pick up on the price tag ) But we wanna add a GPU right... So lets say you want a 80 or 90 card... Now we are talking 2 builds with 80s gpu's 10 years ago just for 1 component... Well, lets not forget what's running the show, but the prices on a central process unit is now doubled if not more. So it's time we gamers, pc enthusiasts, workstation creators get heard and the prices must fall or we can't enjoy the products people create and so on and so on. You could definitely run games like fortnite on with the 3700 build even with the 1060. you have the 4 or 6gb 1060?
I recently upgraded to 5500 from my trusty 3100. Wanted to go for 5600 but there was a huge price jump. Performance difference between 4500 and 5500 is night and day, despite the miniscule price difference (goes to show they just make up prices here), so I went with 5500, best decision I've made in the last 10 years 😅
I mean for gaming not to much of a loss unless you get a super high end card in which case you definitely have the money and willingness to spend more for a processor
@@freyasatsuki561 Ooh, very nice! Unfortunately 5500 was the most I could afford, and I kinda prefer the lower TDP to save power, since I don't need a lot of power for now
@@nzn46nk SINCE THE 5500 ONLY HAS pciE 3.0, IT'S ACTUALLY A DOWNGRAde from the 3100 with its 3.0... Therefore... whenever you are ready to upgrade your GPU to something more forward looking from whatever you have now... I'd say it would be best to get one that it roughly 5% slower in PCIe 3.0 x16 mode vs PCIe 4.0 x16 mode....... that way you know you have the best GPU you can properly run on your PC, without wasting money on too much performance that PCIe 3.0 can no longer translate to the user.... sry about early caps lock
Pretty nice that you can get a solid 6C/12T gaming CPU for £80. I remember paying £180 for my Ryzen 3600 and this 4500 pretty much matches it in rendering and gaming workloads.
5500 is just £100 and significantly better. Or a 3600 is peanuts used. The 4500 makes sense only in countries with worse PC parts pricing or are mass deploying office PCs with GT730's display cards and are penny pinching.
12400 and 12400f are only 140 and 170 respectively and offer better gaming performance then the i9 from just the last gen,,, 12th gen really was a leap in terms of performance. so unless seriously on a major budget then should be looking at 12th gen... and if you cant stretch to the 12400 look at the 12100 i3,
Great summary. It shows that you don't need a powerful, power hungry GPU for gaming and you still exceed 60 FPS in all games with respectable 0,1% lows over 30 FPS. If only GPUs scaled down as well... I feel as there were no real budget bangers released in last years and the only improvement in that area is RX 6600 price falling down.
@@aleksazunjic9672 Of course, used market is excellent right now, but my complaint is about low end segment of unused, recently released GPUs consisting of poor price/dollar products.
@@erdemeebilgee3584 Here RX 6600 costs 30% more than 1650 super and 20% more than 1660 super while being 46% faster than the latter and 94% faster than the former, according to 1080p ultra data from Techpowerup. I would rather build PC without a case than let that level of performance get lost by case value. 6650 XT currently follows 1:1 price:performance here, so it's a matter of budget in Poland.
@@jamjestkowal Nice but honestly i assume this is going to be a 1000$ build if you are considering smth like the 6600 or 6650xt and honestly just get a used OC2080 like the strix one they will handily outperform both the 6600 and the 6650xt if you are in a country in europe but for me it's new or nothing since there are like no good second hand parts.
It's good to see, that you can get a great gaming CPU for 80€ (intel and amd) Now we have to wait that the prices are also coming down a little bit more with the GPU's . :D
Great to see someone finally see the 4500 in a good light as so many other channels just slated it as a waste of silicon. I was until last month an FX8350 user and finally upgraded to a 12100f, board and ram for £250. I was forced away from the 4500 by those channels and im happy with my choice but good to see the 4500 get some praise. Ive been AMD since the KII 350 socket 7 days (apart from a pre built q6600 dell i got for free) and although i have jumped ship after 20 years im still keeping an eye out for the 7000 3d cpu's. great vid.. keep em coming..
It kinda was a waste of silicon at its launch price, so i don't disagree with channels like GN thrashing it at launch. At 130 bucks it would get beaten by the older 3600 which could often be found for cheaper even new at the time, and it is essentially an artificially cut down version of the 5500. But RGiHD is such a special channel cause he'll look at hardware a couple months after launch still, after the market has adjusted many idiotic initial pricing ideas. I might put a 4500 in my sister's office PC as an upgrade to the 1200 that's currently in there, i bought the 1200 for the same 80 bucks 4 years ago and the progress is absolutely staggering.
Nice, nearly 2 years ago i upgraded my phenom IIx6 for I9100 32gb 1650 nice upgrade but not rlly needed yet since w3 is such trash game... what i enjoy is lower electricity bills
I recently got a new pc after using my brothers old pc for 3-4 years. Its was a budget build but the jump in performance made it feel like a dream Upgraded from an i3 first gen to an i3 10th gen And also upgraded the gpu from a gt 610 to an rtx 3050 It has been running every game without breaking a sweat.
Why do I watch every video you post? It has no relevence, or use to me, but yet I watch. So I guess....keep up the great work and videos! I love the calm manner, and you are full of infomation. I have a Dell G15(I know), but you explain everything so well, you care about the tech, and compare any hardware against another. The tests you do here could really help people, if they want a PC without the four figure price tag! Keep it coming good Sir!
i love my i310105 , plays fine with all my games other than riders republic unfortunatly as its one of my faves to play (got round this but running it at low settings and upping the resolution to make it use the 3060 gpu more ) the i3 was from a ebay mobo deal ,came with a msi mag mortor mobo and 32gb ram at 2333mhz that i upgraded to 3600mhz later on and a 1tb gen 4 mvme for £270
I just ordered a 5700g for my brother in law for Christmas. I have a asrock x570 pg velocita board laying around from when i had my 5950x and im upgrading his system from his 9700k. This will be his Christmas gift. Happy holidays everyone.
Out of the two, I'd pick the AMD CPU. Having 2 more cores and 4 more threads will help it along, and would give more processing power for other tasks, like streaming alongside gaming if desired. Still, both seem like good options.
I was given a lot of desktops from an office for free, most were older sandy bridge PCs, but there were several i3 10100f builds. I’ve been buying up 1050 Tis to pair them with and throwing them up on eBay. I’m running one myself right now with an RX 6400XT and I’m very happy with the results.
6:45 That reminds me that I need to download the free game I got with my new 5600! I'd love to see you tackle a "Cheap" i3 12100 review too vs an AMD comparative build
Also You need to update your BIOS, it makes your mainboard much better performance, and You will get some new driver updates... If you are near Požarevac in Serbia I can make yours PC running better for sure.
I've spoken before how the 4500, at least as part of a bundle, is actually cheaper than certain bundles for the 10th gen i5s and even i3s where I live, which makes it the superior option unless you specifically want Intel or can find the 10100/10100F bundles that are cheaper. Still, I have to give my appreciation for the 10100F. It's been the champion of new (or new-ish) budget gaming builds for a reason.
@@anshgupta1759 I think RAM is the main priority here. You can always lower the detail quality, but 8 gigs of ram is already becoming a minimum, rather than an optimal choice, sometimes even meaning that you should close all the other apps but game. Also ram is cheaper compared to upgrading GPU, and you should definitely wait for the 7600xt release, to get yourself 6600xt for dirt cheap :)
@@anshgupta1759 Put 2 x 8GB RAM in to dual channel, 3200 CL16 is flash enough. After that then yes your GPU is your key bottleneck, your computer can partner with stronger GPUs well enough. You still have a decent 1080P60 machine in AAAs though so you're not in the low range, your computer would be pucker with a RX5700XT or an RTX2060/S/2070 by any standards.
I got a 10105f, an open box z590 mobo, a nice case, and a 550 watt PSU from Microcenter for under $300. That combined with some spare DDR4 and a cheap RX 560 from eBay, and I was able to build a really nice gaming PC for my son. It isn't mind blowing, but it plays any game you throw at it at 60fps or higher, as long as you use reasonable settings. I was very pleased with the purchase.
i got the I3 10100F just because of what you said in the video it traded blows with gaming vs the ryzen 5 4500 i got no complaints about the I3 10100F its been very solid for gaming.
I bought an Acer office PC with 10100 in 2020 for $360 and it's some of the best money I have ever spent. If you keep the system lean of parasites like extra drives, you can shoehorn a 1660 Super in on the stock 240W PSU with a molex GPU power adapter. Alpine Freezer 11lp is the overkill and silent cooler.
I think an RTX 2060 or GTX 1660Ti would be a great and low cost dGPU for either of these. The RTX 2060 can take advantage of DLSS. The R5 4500 has a superior IMC (integrated memory controller) in it so 3200MT/s CL16 ram would be very stable and very affordable.
Could you possibly add Death Stranding back to the benchmarks? If you have played more than the opening and the early part of the game, the hub areas are kinda demanding when you reach them and the game is a really good looking too, and of course, showing us your doggo more would be also a very welcome thing too.
What has come to my attention is that the Ryzen 5 4500 tested here was always being less utilized, by roughly 20%. Which means what the GPU was the systems bottle neck and that both processors could handle more, but especially the R5 in this comparison. Yet what i see is still a testament on how well the 10th Gen i3 holds up paired with a mighty RTX3060. If ones inention was to pair it with said card, both CPUs will do just fine.
In my country 5 4500 cost around 93$, 2 year ago i bought i3 10100f for 31$ from outlet + asus h410m 38$ from outlet + 8gb ddr4 2666 dual 22$, so this three things cost cheaper than a 5 4500 :D
Recently went with a 2nd hand (CEX) R5 2600 with a new AM4 board. Was very tempted by an i3 but the AM4 platform gives me greater scope to upgrade my CPU when the time comes
You know everyone is always bashing the cheap intel cooler but I was looking at the temps and it doing a pretty good job cooling the cpu in all these games
People hate it because it's included in the box of Core i5 which doesn't make sense since the CPU itself has higher TDP, thus higher temperature. It's not always about Clock speed, it's about Voltage × Amp = Watt + Heat.
I've got a 2600x as a hand me down from my dad. So that's all I can afford. Hopefully for Christmas I can buy a better GPU than a 750ti and maybe scrounge enough together for a new cpu
Used market it is, or try getting 6600m from aliexpress if it is viable in your country. That thing is a beast, also uses low power and can do whatever 6600 can.
Mate, put every penny into your GPU your CPU is fine. Your CPU is strong enough run high end cards from the 20 series and upper mid tier 30 series cards.
GPU is always more important than CPU, especially when your CPU is not that bad at all. Change your GPU first and change CPU next time or until you have issues with it later
@@fedepede04 I was looking at when the base chip was first available for sale. Chiplet Zen 2 (e.g. 3600, 3950X) is based on Matisse dies from 2019 whereas monolithic Zen 2 (e.g. 4500, 4600U) is based on the Renoir die from 2020. But if we look at the core architecture, then 10th gen cores are almost identical to Skylake cores from 2015, just a couple of vulnerability patches. So in that sense the 4500 is 4 years newer. It's remarkable that the i3 can even compete.
To say the i3 is only few fps behind and over 20w power different when in use i would much rather have the i3 much more power efficient which is weird to say cos its usually amd that are more power efficient
Currently on offer on AliExpress you have budget gaming PCs with 4500 or 5500 ($115 and $130 respectively ) , RX 580 (price dropped to $75) , cheap DDR4 RAM , A320 MB and Chinese brand SSD . This will run all games released for PS4 at 1080p high (or even ultra) and could potentially run PS5 games at 1080p low-med . i3-10100f could be found for as low as $70 with cheap h410 and h510 boards for $65.
I got it for second build, and I am so glad for all performances I get for only 250€ for CPU, RAM and GPU... Already had M.2 Samsung 980 pro 1gb ssd, and went from 16 to 24GB of RAM with cheap NV GF 1060 GPU... with a new tower with 6 RGB Fans, now I have a very good Gaming PC with only 500W Antec GREEN Pow Supply... Running alll I want to run, on at High or Medium settings
I paid 65$ on a used R5 3600 and paired with a MSI A520M and 2x8GB 3200Mhz XPG memory, it cost me around 180$ in the end, i already had psu, gpu, ssd and a case, so it was pretty much cheap for me, and im certain that the R5 3600 is better than the 4500 in most cases
Both aren't tapping out the 3060ti , both CPUs are deep into hyperthreading as the other poster said 5600 will also will get you gen 4 pcie also. The 5700x also would be a good buy for more production and future gaming but at this point a low end 12th gen might be more interesting. Personally I'd wait for the cheap boards on the 7000 series to net the CPU swap in 3+ years which will be nice for something like a 6060/7060 and gen 4 SSDs should still be fine then . So that's a PC that could last you 6-8 years with 2 easy upgrades. That feels worth the bit extra outlay. For me a zen 2 in 2020 onward feels like a stop gap especially due to the 5600 existing or a used 5600x
Great video, I'd choose the Ryzen over the intel option. Faster ram on budget boards with far better upgrade CPU options (5600 will run fine on A320). With intel your stuck with 2666mhz ram on comparable budget h410 and 10400/10500 is about as high as you can go, anything higher will be severely handicapped.
At this exact pricepoint both CPUs are good budget options if one wants to buy new. Funny how all it takes is a good price drop to make something far more viable.
Great budget cpu review. I think for a little more money, as you recommended the i5-10400F and the Ryzen 5500 or 5600 are better overall options. My only gripe with the 5500 and 5600 is that the b550 are a bit more expensive and the majority of b450 motherboards would need a bios update to take the 5500 or 5600.
I would get the 10105 over the F, the iGPU helps with a lot of other tasks. When its retired you can turn it into a low power server/NAS. Ryzen is less versitile.
To me, gaming performance is not all I care about. I'm generally happy giving up some performance if it mean things like code compiling and transcoding video is faster. That's why I went with my Ryzen 7 3700x over the intel I was looking at at the time. Sure the Intel would have gained me ~5% in most games on average, but it would have cost me over 25% in most thread heavy tasks. So gaming performance is not all that matters to me, especially as either chip I was looking at was going to be overkill for any game at the time, and likely for many years to come.
i built myself a pc last 1 year ago, using an i3 10105f. The only viable and "cheap" option. There were no ryzen available. When i need a little push, i will study my options. Either getting an 11th gen i7 or building myself an entirely new pc.
A bit strange you picked the 10100f and not the 10105f other than that good video. I went with the 10105f this summer because at the time it was 50 Euros cheaper than the ryzen 5 4500.
AM4 Ryzen have proven good value I built a R5 3600 system when signed off sick from RTA, light gaming hoping to do photo editing perhaps some budget home film manipulation. It was good but went back to work so no time, got a good deal on a R9 5900 for photo system so paired R5 with a £25MB old Ram and revived media pc/hub which its great at! I bet R5 4500 would make a great light weight media centre with some gaming, if in a itx case possible to take on holiday with you if going by car/caravan.
10100F is not called "the golden chip" for nothing. it punches waaaaaaaaay above its weight on release - even now. and you only need a cheap 2666mhz DDR4 kit. very cheap to build. great entry point for budding PC gamers. its equivalent to a i7 7700 in gaming performance. it trades punches with a r5 2600 in games. i had one for 2 years. i can confidently recommend it,
Weird markets for sure. I live in Mexico and had a significant bottleneck with an 3070 and an i5 9400f. It was cheaper to buy a Ryzen 7 5700x, with a cooler, mobo and RAM than buying an i7 o i9 9th gen to upgrade. 😅
Yep, that 5700X, i just got it last week for US $205 (tax already included) to paired with my AsRock B450 Pro4 replacing my trusty R5 2600. The difference is quite apparent between the two in games and video rendering
I actually use a 4500 with a gtx 1650 and can only say that while there are probs better setups for this I'm happy with it. Can play all games that I want to play on Xbox game pass and even Eldenring (on a bit lower settings though) in 1080P. And the best thing about this setup is the TDP for the chip and the card are 65 W for the 4500 and 75 W for the 1650 (without 3 pin version) so the total combined tdp is only 140 W. Though this can also be achieved with something like an 5600x.
With the 4500, and a cheap 2 slot board, you might actually be able to benefit from really fast RAM, like 4400+ fast. Yes the 4500 is Zen2, but its Zen2 based on an APU with its GPU disabled, this critically means that its IO is not only monolothic, but more importantly 7nm, the 7nm and 6nm IO dies can generally hit anywhere between 2100-2500, meaning your RAM can run at 4200-5000 while still maintaining that oh so important 1:1 clock ratio. The down side of this is that you need 2 slot boards to go over 4200, as i've tested the best 5700G i have on even high end OC 4 slot boards, and even though 2 sticks of 5000 work just fine in a high end ITX build, those same 2 sticks can only hit 4200 in a 4 slot "OC" board
I hate to keep adding notes here, but if you dont have fast RAM a 3600 would be better than a 4500, this is because the 4500 has 1/2 the cache of the 3600 this means the 4500 needs much faster RAM to make up for the lower cache, because a smaller cache, means more RAM usage requiring lower RAM latency to keep up. This is why the 5800X3D works so well with slow RAM it hits that slow RAM far less frequently, and the stuff that does hit the RAM is often not as latency sensitive.
Ryzen is definitely a better choice. But please, don't take too cheap motherboards if you want to upgrade in future easily. I can recommend MSI B450 A-Pro Max/B550 A-Pro motherboard as a great and balanced choice. I use B450 A -Pro (not a Max version) in couple with a Ryzen 5 1600 old revision 14nm for like 3 years now, and this motherboard can handle any CPU in AM4 platform, because VRM don't heat too much even with heavily overclocked Ryzen 1600 that consumes about 110-120W of power at full load.
I swapped out my old R7 1700 for a 5500 a few months ago for £111. It's quite surprising at the improvement for such a budget chip. My frame timings are a lot better with this little 6 core and the copper slug Wraith Spire I used on the 1700 cools it pretty well too.
Note: Either lower the graphics quality ot get a more powerful gpu (this might not always be possible) so both cpus are sat at ~100% utilisation when benchmarking to make it more fair. other than that great video as always
Can you get the 5500 too? at least on latvian retailers, it is about 20eur more than the 4500, the 4500 is 82eur, 5500 is 104eur and the legendary 3600 somehow is 99eur. These prices are insane, the used 3600s are going more than new
The 5500 is stronger in gaming than a 3700X, that's why I bought one to replace my old OG Zen 8 core a few months ago. If you've got a PCIe 4 PCB and GPU and NVMe then the 3600 may be a good choice but as my board is 3.0 (B450) along with the rest of my machine the 5500 made more sense, especially as when I bought it was £111 and it's cheaper now.
@@LatvianVideo Yeah, I've got mine with a 2060Super and the GPU is the main restricting factor. I replaced an R7 1700 and it's a better gaming chip, not just higher FPS but better frame timings and fewer stutters.
There's also the rarer Ryzen 5 Pro 4400GE, which is basically a 4500 with IGP. You can currently buy one for $120 shipped on eBay, making it a better alternative to both of these, since an IGP is always handy to have.
Was about to comment about the rare ones like 4600g /4650g. For penny pinchers, this is the cpu to get as it's igp is decent enough. Down side is it is pcie3 only but what the heck.
Where i live: i3-10100f + mobo = 120 dlls. r5 4500 is 120 dlls alone. And the cheapest b550 board avaliable is 90 dlls. The cheapest a520 is 75 dlls. I been building cheap 10100f rigs lately for my friends who seriously needed to update their 4th gen i5, or celeron rigs. They need better video cards (gtx 1050, r9 260, gtx 10603gb) but since they mostly playing e-sport kind of games atm, they are fine.
I got myself another 5800X3D and got the same free game as well 💪✊👍🥰. Got it on a get great pre Black Friday deal! Most AMD CPUs of the 6-core variety will play most tiles reasonably well, especially the 3000,4000 and 5000 series 💪✊
Shame that the r5 4500 is crippled right out of the box and will be a tad bit disappointing for a relatively new 6 core 12 thread part. Would recommend an older Ryzen 5 3600 on ebay even if they're the same price (relatively) right now.
I run an I3 10105F (the refresh version of the 10100) with a 2070 and have had no complaints at all - highly recommend getting the 10105 over the 10100 if possible for that little bit of a boost in clock speed, especially for just a little more money. Would imagine the 10105 would also perform better than the 5 4500
@@boodrift just checked, on the UK these are within £5 - £10 of each other. Not an amount worth splitting hairs over when you do get that higher clock speed from the 10105f
Using a B560 board would results in using higher speed memory as for the H410 with the i3 automatically makes any memory run at 2666MHz and also using a B560 board you could also upgrade up to a i7 11700 while in the H410 you're limited to the i7 10700 instead.
Yeah, but thing called budget exists. Especially when you dont spend too much time gaming, and just want a PC that can play games 1080p with not so much lag\stutter.
@@IIHydraII 5600 is the best option because you can pump that into really cheap used basic boards with no loss of memory performance. AM4 is still the way to go for true budget builds.
Recently bulit my first PC with the R5 4500. Paired it with a cheapo A520 motherboard (yeah ik, should've buy a cheap B450 around the same-ish price, but the cheap B450s are out of stock here, and i don't have much budget left), and took a risk on a mined RX 6600 (and it was worth it), and i'd say it's a well put build. Great 1080p gaming setup (for about $400 ish)
Considering the AM4 platform doesnt have too much of an upgrade roadmap in the future, how about a benchmark of some of the best bang-for-buck CPUs of the platform? Maybe we can get some info about how newer Zen cores can benefit from new chipsets or faster RAM
As if there is an upgrade path going forward for LGA 1200, they just released the second generation on LGA 1700, and are already planning a new socket.
Sadly the i3 12100f is the same price as this Ryzen 5 4500 making it quite a pointless buy for someone in my country even with its 6 cores and 12 threads.
I'll agree that the 4500 should've launched at $105 at the absolute most, but nowadays, Id honestly put the 4500 up as a serious choice for a budget CPU Pair that with a 3060 or a 6650 and you got a pretty solid 1080p 60 fps on high machine
I have a 4500 paired with rx7600 gpu...but I want to upgrade to 7800xt, do you think there will be issues?, probably a bottleneck at 1080p, but what about 1440p max settings and 4k?...

Could you please compare Ryzen 5 4500's performance with Ryzen 5 1600/1600 AF if possible? Because there are many of us who are still using Ryzen 5 1600 and since R5 4500's price has slashed down so much it looks interesting to get it as an upgrade especially if you're on a super tight budget. And it's really difficult to find any information online where you can accurately see the comparison between the two.
@@JamesToward Actually I also changed my processor but not to 5500, I switched from 1600 to 4500 since it was on a sale for just $70-75 after credit card discount and I can say for sure the performance bump from 1600 to 4500 is quite noticeable. So I'd say it wasn't a bad deal. It may not be as powerful as Ryzen 5 3600, 5500 and 5600 but seeing 30-45fps boost in a game like Apex Legends was more than enough for someone like me.
I was reading the other day there is a way to convert your RX460 to a bona fide RX560, have you or others tried this little gem if it works? Apparently its a flashbios mod pretty much, wondering how a 8gb 460 would flash into a unique 8gb 560 as the 560 was a 4gb jobby.

Cases are found both cheap and expensive, Fans much the same ( oh tho i think non rgb fans have pick up on the price tag )
But we wanna add a GPU right...

GPU is always more important than CPU, especially when your CPU is not that bad at all. Change your GPU first and change CPU next time or until you have issues with it later
The 4500 is technically two years newer but not really, the version with the iGPU (4600G) was available for OEMs around the same time as the i3-10100.
100% agree, newer release date, but older cpu architecture, it is zen 2 from 2019, Intel 10gen is from 2020.
@@Rachit0904 that's sounds right, did not lookup the zen 2 mobile chips. I just took it as granted that it was 2019 like the Matisse.
I got this chip for my first build a couple months ago !
I HATE doing mobo bios updates ,, that is why I often use the r5 3600 ,,, most boards are already set for that cpu and at US$ 90 it is decent value
A combo a320+4500 is going for $140 in my country
Seems like a good deal but I'd love it once $99 sticker in every retail is the norm for that pair
Either getting an 11th gen i7 or building myself an entirely new pc.
great job my bro.. may nex time i will go for ryzen 5 4600g,,,, the value as so interesting to me now... only $115 new package on december 2022
i3 12100F cost around $100 in India
And i5 12400f is around $156
So I'd say getting these 2 are literally the best Option
10100F is not called "the golden chip" for nothing. it punches waaaaaaaaay above its weight on release - even now. and you only need a cheap 2666mhz DDR4 kit. very cheap to build. great entry point for budding PC gamers. its equivalent to a i7 7700 in gaming performance. it trades punches with a r5 2600 in games. i had one for 2 years. i can confidently recommend it,
Yeah it’s a little beast
I think now it's not worth it, better go for a 4500 or better, a used 3600. But it served well for the past years.
Well 10105F is 'the platinum chip' then! About 5% faster with the right memory (2666 mhz is good)
Weird markets for sure. I live in Mexico and had a significant bottleneck with an 3070 and an i5 9400f. It was cheaper to buy a Ryzen 7 5700x, with a cooler, mobo and RAM than buying an i7 o i9 9th gen to upgrade. 😅
Looks like Mexicans love Intel too much
Yep, that 5700X, i just got it last week for US $205 (tax already included) to paired with my AsRock B450 Pro4 replacing my trusty R5 2600. The difference is quite apparent between the two in games and video rendering
a comparison budget gamers actually needed
The recommend of rtx 3050 seem to be a bit bad, this card is horrible at the prices you can get one at least in uk.
True, in every single country 6600xt must be the choice. 3050 is just a meh.
I use i5 12 gen 12400f with gtx 1650 and yea I never had any issues with it. It can run everything
You get a good motherboard because of the upgrade potential. You can find good deals too if you watch, I picked up a pair of Z490 boards for $100 each
With the 4500, and a cheap 2 slot board, you might actually be able to benefit from really fast RAM, like 4400+ fast.
With the 5700G and samsung B dye RAM i was able to hit 4933C17-17-17-28 on a cheap 2 slot ITX build 74GB/s at 49.1NS of latency according to Aida64
I upgraded to 5500, had a look at 4500 but couldn't resist the single core performance of 5500.
Yeah you made a great choice :)
Yeah same, got it for $94
I swapped out my old R7 1700 for a 5500 a few months ago for £111. It's quite surprising at the improvement for such a budget chip. My frame timings are a lot better with this little 6 core and the copper slug Wraith Spire I used on the 1700 cools it pretty well too.
Note:
Either lower the graphics quality ot get a more powerful gpu (this might not always be possible) so both cpus are sat at ~100% utilisation when benchmarking to make it more fair.
other than that great video as always
Can you get the 5500 too? at least on latvian retailers, it is about 20eur more than the 4500,
the 4500 is 82eur,
5500 is 104eur and the legendary 3600 somehow is 99eur.
@@darthwiizius If its stronger than a 3700x, my 970 will be at 100% usage like everywhere. Currently I have an overclocked 1200
@@LatvianVideo
Yeah, I've got mine with a 2060Super and the GPU is the main restricting factor.
$120 ,,, that would get a 5600g

I been building cheap 10100f rigs lately for my friends who seriously needed to update their 4th gen i5, or celeron rigs. They need better video cards (gtx 1050, r9 260, gtx 10603gb) but since they mostly playing e-sport kind of games atm, they are fine.

I got myself another 5800X3D and got the same free game as well 💪✊👍🥰. Got it on a get great pre Black Friday deal! Most AMD CPUs of the 6-core variety will play most tiles reasonably well, especially the 3000,4000 and 5000 series 💪✊
Thx for this video very much
I'm working on getting my first proper pc, I'm going with the i3 since it'll be enough for me and I can always upgrade later either way
Shame that the r5 4500 is crippled right out of the box and will be a tad bit disappointing for a relatively new 6 core 12 thread part.
Would imagine the 10105 would also perform better than the 5 4500
You’re bottlenecking that 2070
Oh
10105f and 10100f have pretty much the same performance, i'd say just get whatever's cheaper if you're considering them
@Taylor Willis I'm aware - I'll be upgrading to an i7 when I have enough money :)
12100f ~ £100 ish, used 5600(X) -£120 both much better options imo.
Yeah, but thing called budget exists. Especially when you dont spend too much time gaming, and just want a PC that can play games 1080p with not so much lag\stutter.
@@assetaden6662 these are still both within the budget range though.

5600 is the best option because you can pump that into really cheap used basic boards with no loss of memory performance.
I mean you could just get a 5800X3D when it becomes cheap and get a CPU that can compete with things like a 13900K in games.
Sadly the i3 12100f is the same price as this Ryzen 5 4500 making it quite a pointless buy for someone in my country even with its 6 cores and 12 threads.
Nice comparison. Would you consider visiting the og RX460 2GB in 2022? Or maybe 2023? 😅
I'll agree that the 4500 should've launched at $105 at the absolute most, but nowadays, Id honestly put the 4500 up as a serious choice for a budget CPU
Pair that with a 3060 or a 6650 and you got a pretty solid 1080p 60 fps on high machine
I have a 4500 paired with rx7600 gpu...but I want to upgrade to 7800xt, do you think there will be issues?, probably a bottleneck at 1080p, but what about 1440p max settings and 4k?...
@@RX7800XTBenchmarks PC builds doesn't mention any bottlenecks on its calculator, but this is also the same site that changed it's mind on the 4500 and 6650 XT from a great combination at 1080p to a bottlenecking nightmare
My best advice would be to find some videos on RUclips, or consult Zach from Zach's Tech Turf (as he has a website with a consult option) to get proper insight
getting the ryzen for a budget concious person is better in my opinion because in 1 or 2 years the 5000 series price will fall as they age and the upgrade will feel nicer then
