    Why does this poor woman keep getting injured?

  • @benjaminsmith1329

    An addition to the Arms part of the FAST test, if a person can't raise both arms it could be very distressing for them, something to consider is to ask them to squeeze both of your hands and if you notice a difference between the hands you'll know but they won't - it's another way to discover arm weakness without causing undue stress.

    When you think of all the meaningless sometimes damaging and toxic bs we get bombarded with every day on the Internet.
    Wouldn't it be just great to see less of that and more of this. Here's hoping🤞

    May I know what should I do for victim after FAST Test? For example, should I lay the victim down and place his legs at the higher place?

    • @thesonicgamergal2548
      @thesonicgamergal2548 2 года назад

      No you reassure the person until the ambulance arrives, let the victim of the stroke know you’re not going anywhere and you’re staying with them to reassure them. Hence why the fast test for stroke has saved many people’s lives because of the act of kindness of those who found the person having a stroke.

    I too suffered a Mini stroke at home in early March of this year and my dad knew what to do. Plus I had my small dogs sleeping next to me. They both barked at my unit door to notify my dad that I was in trouble. The Ambulance service took me to Hospital for a assessment for a stroke. The next few hours the stroke team made me to have a shower before I went into surgery. The doctors who took care of me, they took out the blood clot out & inserted a stent in my right side of my brain via my wrist. After a few hours in recovery then I was transferred to a Rehab Centre for the next few months. I had to relearn how to walk again by using their equipment like the treadmill and the robotic arm. After a few months I was discharged from hospital and sent back home to recover properly. Now I'm back home again with my angel dogs ,I cam walk better with alot of practice & determination.

    I have hemiparesis, so naturally I have weakness on one side. I have poor coordination in my left arm, and I have a slight limp (equinus affecting left side. Leg's pretty tight), as well as poor vision in my left eye (I can see out of it, but it's very blurry and gives me a headache, so once when my right eye became irritated, I decided to just keep both my eyes closed rather than get a bad headache). I also have autism (symptoms point more to Asperger's Syndrome, to be specific) and I was born premature. I was told that during infancy, I had a stroke, and I had an event involving respiratory arrest. Throughout my childhood, I've had motor tics on occasion, but they increased in severity and frequency ever since I learned that my father passed away. I used to have pulmonary issues; I frequently became ill with respiratory-tract infections, and I used to need a nebulizer daily. Thankfully, this has improved, although being around smoke and fumes makes it hard for me to breathe.
    I think I might be a hypochondriac, but is it possible that I might have a form of cerebral palsy?

    • @otomodachifan
      @otomodachifan 9 лет назад +2

      In fact, I didn't have CVA during infancy. But I still have weakness

    • @avalasialove

      Panos WakeUp Well, it's not always as obvious as this. Sometimes the symptoms of a stroke are kind of vague. The FAST test can help determine if the person needs medical help.

    • @mjamjom4698
      @mjamjom4698 8 лет назад +3

      +Trevor Lowe No, no and no! The extra blood towards brain could kill the patient! ALWAYS lift the upper half of the body, let the patient sit on a sofa o lean him to the walle! If the person is unconscious(!!!) do the recovery position, but never let the patient lay flat on the floor as long as he's conscious! The shock position with legs up will kill him in any way! But in case of unconsiousness the patient's survival is the first priority, so you'll need to forget about raising the torso and put him into recovery position!

  • @ThatSkeptic

    Here in the US, any adult who is competent can refuse care. So if I went ahead and did what they told me not to, I can get in trouble for that. If I were giving care and the refused the other part(assuming they were competent) I can get in trouble. To add a disclaimer, I do not represent nor do I work for the American Red Cross. We have "Good Samaritan" law that vary state by state. From watching the British Red Cross(great job by the way with the videos) the idea of treatment is the same.
