As a teen in the 90s, I almost exclusively listened to Christian music (dc talk, Newsboys, Silage, Audio Adrenaline, etc), and my mom always referred to it as my "drug music" lol

As a kid growing up in the 90s, DC Talk and Petra were the first bands I got into. Then I added Newsboys, Skillet and a bunch of others. I actually saw the Newsboys last week in Denver. It was cool because you had Peter Furler and Phil Joel back. Plus Kevin Max made an appearance. So we had the full Newsboys lineup from Step up to the Microphone and two thirds of DC Talk!
Yeah if you could do this with the Newsboys that would be cool!

My opinion is the "Jesus Freak" cd is one of the greatest contemporary Christian music CDs. many great songs on that one CD. Tied for first with "conversations" by Sara Groves.

Concerning the Jesus Freak video, Kevin Max shared this in his Facebook group page "it was the video director Simon Maxwells idea... he was the force behind NIN videos.... crazy but cool guy.... I think his point was showing the tension between humanity gone awry & Jesus redemption."

Enjoyed your reaction vid and commentary. I've been listening to the Jesus Freak album since about '96. To me this album is a work of art. Musical genius at work. So as I was listening to my own copy of the album, I sought out a reaction vid and really enjoyed yours

Jesus is Still All Right is the original song which you reviewed; Jesus is Just All Right is there remake about 10 years later. Make note of the difference in the wording. It's subtle, but but the one word change makes all the difference. I, handedly, prefer the original over the remake.

Great vid! The 90s was the beginning and the end of mass market evangelical appeal to teens.

Corny is one of the endearing qualities of 90s CCM. Embrace it! You should react to Consume Me next. It's amazing considering the current climate.

I agree! I don’t think it’s as corny of the silly things they have in music now. But I agree that it should be embraced. DC Talks music is foundation forming music.

I honestly think Christian music today has nothing on the late 80s to early 2000s Christian music. The music (to me at least) held the most confronting message and emphasized on the message of Jesus. Now it’s all happy and repetitive overplayed music on the Christian radio. Newsboys’ “breakfast in hell” 😂 man was that confrontational!
Audio Adrenaline’s underdog album, can’t go wrong. All DC Talk music is gold.

    • @mrs.i9176
      @mrs.i9176 4 года назад

Can’t say I agree with your comments on the videos though. If they re-released some of DC Talks music now, I think it would be a big hit. Maybe update some of the music videos, but don’t change anything else.
But thanks for the opinions. 👍🏽😁👍🏽

The America intro was ALWAYS there brah, I watched it WAY too many times when it came out... lots of crazy imagery.
Loved these guys, knew EVERY lyric on EVERY album...still do.
The sad thing if you haven't heard is that the 'Christian' music ind. is no different than the secular. They are ALL coming from the same place and being equipped with demonic entities and lyrics that 'Christian's will sing and cast spells on themselves...Bc they cannot cast a spell on us...without OUR consent....'witch language's they use Lyrics to have Christians cast spells on themselves.
It's hard to hear, i personally Love music, BUT we're called and commanded to be discerning AND NOT deceived by 'Angels of light.'
Cool vid, I do enjoy this stuff though...just carefully now a days....and would encourage you to delve deeper and ALWAYS asking The Lord to lead you into all Truth. "The Holy Spirit leads us into ALL Truth."
    Blessings in Christ Jesus!

He's still a theist. He just reject evangelical Christianity. He's more "spiritual" than religious. But yes, still sad. I pray he finds answers and clarity to return.
